So today I got a new phone, I exchange the other one because it had other issues!
But now my Auto Sync for my Gmail account keeps turning off by itself!
I'm having to go to menu >accounts and having to turn it back on! After a few I go back and its off!
I already did a reset and that didn't work!
Is anyone else having this issue!
I call CS and they told me to exchange it again! So I guess I'll have no choice if I can't find a fix!

Mine did the same thing. Do 2 things:
1) Turn WiFi on and see if it syncs over Wifi
2) Go to network settings and select the option GSM/WCDMA and then click on select network operator. Search for available networks and after the search is over click on "select automatically".
Mine worked after that.

I usually used wifi at home/ company, rarely use 3G, so I used to turn it off by using APNdroid.
Today I needed to search something online so I turned my 3G on by using APNdroid. The 3G icon didn't show up. It didn't work even I switched on the "data roaming" in setting, reboot, switch to airplane mode then switch back.....
Anybody can give me some advice?
I'll second this for the battery savings

With APNDroid in the "on" mode, check your APN settings in Wireless Settings > Moblie Networks > Access Point Names. If there is nothing there, try Menu > Restore Defaults.

I'm going on a cruise soon and want to take my phone. My question is how can I shut off all data but allow text messages to still come in?
How about a tool like smartbar to turn off data and then google voice to send your texts to email

You could use the "toggle mobile data"widget that comes with juice defender. I can still receive regular text messages but no picture messages.

if you have a custom rom with the Extended power Menu option, just bring it up and chose "Data Network Mode" to disable or enable data.
You can also go to settings, Wifi and Network and click on Mobile Network, uncheck "Use Packet Data"

What they said. And then open messages hit options and down at the bottom turn off auto download under multi media messaging. That way it will give you the option to download multi media messages when you chose to do so(after you turn mobile data back on). Otherwise the messages will break and you won't be able to retrieve them at a later date. You will still get standard texts as usual.

I use "SwitchPro Widget" to turn off the radios.
"Quick settings" is another good one works well for me.
There have been many threads on this. The simplest thing to do is put the phone in airplane mode and call AT&T and tell em to suspend your service. They will do it for free.

That is not what he is asking. If you put the phone in airplane mode and have att put an account hold on how would he get sms? I assume what has been posted above would work well for the op.
This is my captivate. There are many like it buy this one is mine.
As long as you don't have data roaming checked (it is unchecked by default), you don't need to do anything.
If you have any 2.2 ROM, you should have an option to disable cell data altogether as well either in settings menu or the power button quick list.
But, as I said above, you shouldn't need to do anything unless you turned on data roaming in settings. I've used my Captivate through couple of Asia countries and didn't have any data roaming charges.
I highly recommend APNDroid. It is the best way that I've found to be able to ensure with certainty that the 3G data radio will not be used.
I bought an unlocked G2x yesterday. I'm not using any of the Cellular related features. How can i turn them off? (Not airplane mode, that also turns off WiFi)
I also put in a random prepaid phone sim to remove the "Insert SIM" notification
I want this phone to look normal. but use only wifi. Because theres wifi everywhere and I can get free wifi calling.
I don't think it will make any difference in battery life weather data is turned off or the SIM is just not present. I think there are ROMs for the G2x that allow data to be toggled but I'm not sure.
If you're talking about T-Mo's wifi calling then you need an active T-Mo SIM to make it work.

You can disable mobile data from
setting > wireless & network setting > mobile network setting > Data enable
As long as you are within wifi range and connected it should by default disable mobile data.
You can try going to dialer, dial *#*#INFO#*#*
Phone Info
(scroll down)
"turn off radio"
YMMV though

This.
This is the only way to achieve what you are asking, toggling mobile data still leaves the cell radio active. I do not know if wifi calling will work with the radio completely off though. Try it out and report back, I'm interested to know.

I just followed that, wifi is still connected.
But this is what i mean
see "Cell Standby" and a completely different section "WiFi"
Airplane mode does turn off your wifi but try turning wifi back on. Works on cm7 at least...

hi im using att titan unlocked, but im having problems with internet,i can see E (edge),im on simple mobile unimited plan and its so easy to set up data for simple mobile because apn is just "simple" and there is no other settings and every time after saving apn when i try to go to internet browser trying to connect to this adress :
http://androidapi.t-mobile.com/apppack/mvno.html
i know this is tmobile adress and i know simple mobile running on tmobile network but this is not the first branded unlocked phone which im using on simple mobile and i know im getting 2g im fine with that, can someone point me what to do?i try also to change some settings in native browser but there is nothing there, also every time i boot the phone it ask for unlocking code which i allready did use.. im fine even with this just need help for internet thanks
First suggestion: run Connection Setup app (from HTC Apps section in the Marketplace). If needed, you can install it using a PC.
Second suggestion: Try connecting over WiFi instead of cellular data; do you see the same weirdness?
Third suggestion: Call your operator (Simple Mobile) and ask them for help.
WiFi works just fine, when I call provider they say same things that I already did it,and about connection set up I don't have that app in HTC titan also I can't find it in market place fuf what next?

It should be in the HTC section of the market. otherwise search for "HTC" in marketplace. It has to be there. I don't know where you are, but here (germany) the apn for t-mobile internet is "internet.t-mobile". Go to T-mobile website there should be a configurator/help where they can send you a configuration sms
yes i solve problem

How did you fix it?
This is how I fixed it
1. Connect to WiFi and make sure you have internet connection
2. Go to market and select HTC app. Sign in or create your window live account, select Connection Setup application and install it
3. Go to settings...cellular...turn data connection off
4. If you have a previous apn settings , go to edit and delete it.
5. Open connection set up application, select manuao set up at the bottom rigth pop out menu. Select carrier window and choose Simple Mobile. Press check mark. Press done when it finish it. Exit to home
6. Power off the phone and reboot.
7. After reboot go to wifi and turn it off
8. Go to settings...cellular...and enable data connection
Enjoy edge data connection
It seems that through flashing CM10 I somehow messed up my data connection, i am not back on a stock image and only receiving 1x speeds even tho i have 4G here at work every single day since i have received my phone.
Anyone think they could help?
Also, my Network is set as "Unknown" I do not have an ERI version, and my PRL is set to 0. I have a MEID and an IMEI tho.
Have you tried using the app "phone info" to change the network you are on LTE/CDMA/evdo or CDMA auto(PRL) , since it sounds like your IMEI is still there

Yes i have, the only way it lets me be on 4G is if i have it set on "LTE only", if its on LTE/CDMA/evdo then it only does the 1x
Have you done the workaround?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29874815&postcount=1
1. Go into system settings->More...-> Mobile Networks -> CDMA Subscription. Change to NV.
2. Hit back button and then click airplane mode button on the menu. Wait for the connection disappear. Then uncheck airplane mode and wait for it to come back and give you an empty triangle for a connection
3. Go back to system settings->More...-> Mobile Networks -> CDMA Subscription. and change to RUIM. Repeat step 2 except you should actually have 3g or 4g now, depending on the build.

Once stock: dial this - *2767*3855#. Back up anything you may want on internal SD prior as it will be wiped.
Should fix your issue, hopefully.
