[Q] new to rooting.....help

Hi all
I've had a dhd now for about a month and have been trying to root with no luck I'm currently running 2.3.3 ginger bread with 2.37 firmware I've tried ginger break and visionary with no luck due to them both having problems with firmware or soft ware if any body can help it would be much appreciated feel free to ask any questions

Hi nick, first, Welcome on XDA Developers.
Nice to know what android version you use but can you tell me which phone?

i saw on another forum that this root works great!

I've tried that one already just says running exploit then I found out it won't work because it won't on anything with firmware higher than 2.36

How to Downgrade ICS to Gingerbread or 2.3.6 on HTC VIVID?

i looked up ways to downgrade 4.0.3 to 2.3.6 or 2.3.4 for the SG2 but i havent been able to find a way to do it with the VIVID/RAIDER/VELOCITY with completely stock update not unlocked. if anyone could tell me it would be much appreciated
P.S a way to root my phone would also be good

i realize this is a bit old of a post, but i was wondering how to downgrade from ICS to gingerbread. Just got this device today and with ics update made my phone very laggy. not sure the issue. I am on a non-rooted device

You may want to factory reset.

Yes you can root and s-off,but you have to do htcdev unlock.

damn the Xperia mini pro root was so easy X_X

This because of hboot 1.27. BUT It's not so difficult as it seems, just read it. It worked for me. Good luck.

Yes. That guide is for the official update, which is what you have. Do exactly as it says and you'll be alright
