Bluetooth Printing - Thunderbolt General

This may sound lame or uneducated, but I need to find out. Is it possible to connect to and print on a printer via a Bluetooth connection without a computer? I know printshare is on the market but I'm not sure about if I need a pc or not. I don't have a computer and haven't needed one with this beast. I am trying to avoid buying a computer.

Did you look at Send 2 Printer. You don't need a PC to print. Limited print drivers but it worked for me on a newer cannon color printer.

[Q] Shutdown computer via ip address

Is there an app that can shutdown a windows computer just using its ip address without the need for installing a client on the computer.

run > shutdown -i
Works with hostname. I haven't tried with IP addresses, but i think that works too.
You'd have to create some kind of server... you have to have something that will accept connections on the server end. Whatever it may be, including SSH, etc.
http://tweetmypc.codeplex.com/
Could do what you want and more but you won't be able to turn off a computer without a way (service or server) that allows it
smb
there'sis somethinglike that ... but it checks for a security hole in "windows vista and 7 ONLY" no XP""" Vista and 7,... ok you can connect to the same network and input the IP and NUKe it.."test for the security hole, if the machine has it, it will shut down.. now aday.. 5 out of 10 machines has that hole open.. so its 50 50 chance but still good to test!
ITS CALLED "SMB CHECK"
That's frightening. If your computers have this vulnerability, they should be patched... not exploited
But anyway... something that actually executes against the credentials of your system is definitely the way to go.
Been playing with ssh so I just connect to a pc from phone and issue command to that an shut any computer on network down. Shame there isn't an app that can do out in a few clicks.

Cool man. I can't imagine it'd be too hard to write one, especially if it's just triggering a bash script with a specified argument (of the host name).
Out of curiosity, are you connecting via VPN? If so, what are you using?
I'm excited for the release of the Cisco Cius and their AnyConnect client, which will hopefully be ripped (or released).
Not using vpn am connected to nw via wireless.
If a talented dev would take up the challenge and code an app for this it would be great, if only I could code

Is there a remote desktop viewer for ubuntu?

I use phonemypc to log into my windows pc but does anyone know of one that will work with ubuntu? Most are just compatible with windows, some with mac. I guess the only way is to set up a vnc server on my ubuntu computer?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Well, you really don't have to "set up" a VNC server in Ubuntu because Ubuntu's remote desktop application is actually VNC, not RDP. Just enable remote desktop in the system settings, set up the appropriate port forward rules on your router and you should be good to go.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Thanks I'll try that, I was hoping for an app that had a nice ui and possibly even sound. I use a vnc app to connect to a linux box I have anyways but its real laggy.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
What do you use? I use Remote VNC Pro and it's the best I've use. Allows for pinch to zoom and panning which makes it really easy to navigate a desktop. Speed will depend more on your phone data connection speed and your home internet's upload speed.
I use android vnc, it works ok and only in landscape. So I guess I would just configure it to connect to my home ip address.

well i tried to set up remote desktop and i'm getting your desktop is not reachable....only on local network. i know this means that i need to forward ports on my router which i did, ports 5900-5999 which i believe should cover all vnc ports. however canyouseeme.com's open port check tool is saying they are closed, so i think my isp is blocking vnc ports or something. any ideas?

As far as I know you need to download an app for your tab to print. I would imagine there is one in the market for cheap or free. You would then share it like you would to Facebook, etc.. And select the app

is it like PrinterShare or Printbot? yes i'm aware there's app for printing, but they used wireless method or cloud method to print (frok what i've tried). what im asking is that using direct usb to the printer to print, because the tab is detecting printer being connected : "printer detect" when i plug usb to the printer but when i try to print from polaris office or gallery using print command, it rejected by : "only samsung printer can be use, you want continue?", then it failed to print (cause im using canon). what i want to ask is there any possibilities to print using other brand by using direct usb and not wireless or cloud method?
thanks.
Not that I know of. Is there no way that you can at least hook it to a computer and just print to it over your home network

yes,..i've tried that, and it works. but still curious about expanding the usefull of usb host that tab has. right now with usb hub, i've manage to use keyboard, mouse and a 250gb external hdd alltogether, so im wondering if a usb printer can be use too, after that maybe hoping that i can use my usb mini projector,...hehehe. thanks for the explanation m8, and sorry for my bad english.

If you want to watch a feed from your phone camera using your PC, IP Webcam is a great app.
If you want to watch a feed from your PC webcam using your phone, I'm not sure. But I'm sure there are some kind of remote desktop apps you can get a hold of. Or download a program which lets you stream your webcam, then connect to that stream using your phone.

I have that one on but it just shows what is being seen from my phone, I want to be able to use my phone to see from my web cam on my PC? I remember I had one that did that but that was last year, I believe something like 'Jumi' or something?
Edit/ I found JumiCam and it works  also followed the steps to allow it to work over 3G/4G networks while away from home through my router modem settings but how do u at ur phone to show 3G or 4G signs in status bar instead of 'h/+h' with Wi-Fi off, this is my dilemma

Unable to transfer music to Nexus 5

So I've googled till my face went blue and for 2 days I have yet to find a free, reliable way to transfer music from my Macbook Air to my Nexus 5.
Google Music: Not supported in my location. I used a VPN to access the page, but even Standard Access asks for $0 purchase from a US credit card to activate the account (it greys out my foreign-issued VISA as "unsupported payment method", even though the card works for everything else on Play Store). If things get really desperate I guess I'll try using a virtual credit card (which requires a small payment), but I want to hold that off for now, since I'm worried Google might have other location-banning tricks up their sleeve, and registering with a fake shipping address might come back and bite me later.
DoubleTwist: Cable sync doesn't work, and I don't want to pay for a wireless solution which will be undoubtedly slow.
Winamp: This ugly piece of crap instantaneously crashes whenever I click the sync button.
AFT: Tired of looking for a sync solution, I gave up and figured I'd just drag and drop. Hits me with "Could not create folder try reconnecting or restarting your device.", which doesn't work either. I read online that changing USB connection mode to PTP instead of MTP solves the issue, but that didn't work either.
Right now, I'm considering FTP'ing into my phone.
I'd really appreciate alternate solutions or recommendations for free FTP apps, preferably with sync feature.
Thank you
Macs are notoriously bad with mtp unfortunately.
Ftp cafe is a good free FTP client for android. Works like any pc client such as filezilla. Can't help with making your mac an ftp server though
Foldersync can also sync via ftp....

Can you transfer via ADB?
Actually if I was in your situation although its a bit crude I'd dump everything onto dropbox and download it onto my phone. My collection is in the range of ~200MB only though. Slow but it works...

Why not use something like an otg usb drive or card reader?
Unless you're trying to pull from iTunes. Does Media Monkey have a Mac version? I've found it to work well in the past (now I just manage all music manually).

I'll presume you're kidding. Older androids with USB mass storage mode used to work straightforward, MTP is buggy on Mac and PTP only works for photos.

OTG sounds good but I see no need to buy an additional storage device when I have enough storage, I'll remember that for later should I run out. Nope, Media Monkey is Windows-only.

So finally what worked easiest for me was ES file explorer, with FileZilla client, 8 GB of songs moved in about 20 mins is great for me, considering the fact that it's wireless.
I guess I'll live without playlists and syncing, thanks for the help guys

Glad it worked out and nice network speeds there. ES file explorer really is a must download for everyone rooted or not. :good:
I could imagine setting up a folder sync with it using Tasker however this I have not tried.
I'm using iSyncr for Mac (paid app) for wireless syncing.
Another alternative I use is AirDroid, which also supports wireless syncing.
