how do you sort your contacts by last names first? - T-Mobile LG G2x

it seems by default G2x sorts my contacts by first names. I prefer the way iphone does that letting me choose how to sort contacts and display them. is there any easy way to change this setting?

I don't own a g2x yet.. but on my vibrant you just need to go to contacts page and press menu button. display options -> sort list by: last name

i think he means for text selection...
1) that feature isn't available for android devices until gingerbread with one caveat... see point 2...
2) this feature is avaiable thru devices with SENSE because sense builds it into the device (even on froyo).
in a nutshell.. the only way to get specific text selection on a 2.2 device is with sense, motoblur or something.. stock 2.2 does not have it built in... only gingerbread has it baked in.
HOWEVER... you CAN select text in the browser by going to menu... more options.. text selection.. then swiping over the text you want and cpying. AND in data fields you can select ALL the text by tapping and holding then choosing copy or cut all text.. but that's it. you'll have to edit the selection once you get it pasted somewhere.

SS Launcher - Pretty neat launcher, different from the usual stuff.

So if your tired of the same old boring launchers, which don't really change much except a few options, here is a launcher that is completely different from all the others: SS Launcher.
Flip through your screens like a magazine, accessing your apps, contacts, bookmarks, and whatever else you would like, since you can customize it to your hearts content.
I had a fun time playing with it.
To be honest, I'm back on the 360 launcher. but I'm keeping this launcher for when I get tired of the same old, same old.
You should really give it a try.
It definitely something different and refreshing:

Tried it. Really original and fine.
I just found a bug, maybe.
On the contacts page, if I go to settings/page settings and I uncheck "show no number", of course a phone number appears above the contact name. BUT, if I want to cancel this option and check now "show no number", the phone number still appears, even after a reset of the launcher, even after uninstall/reinstall! (and no folder on sdcard...)
Strange, no?

You misunderstood it. That option is to show/hide contacts which has no phone number (for example : contact has only address, email... but doesn't have phone number)

Oh right. As you say, I misunderstood the meaning of this option...
Thank you!

Hit the Application button, then Menu. Hit View Type and select Customizable Grid. Then hit Menu again and select Edit. You can now change the dock icons to whatever you want.

Wow nice. Found this topic on accident but I am really glad I did.

CM10 app settings

Hello all,
I recently installed CM10 nightly cm-10-20121012-nightly-evita on my HTC One XL. pretty much everything works great and I am liking the experience. Now I am coming from older cm7 tablet background and very new to HTC One X and CM10 etc. What I find missing is a missing settings button in the applications that I am used to which helps me configure the app. Am I missing something or is there a new way to get things configured ?
An example would be a simple app called basic stock. I add a stock to it and can not add any more stocks because there is no settings button. On my cm7 tablet I am able to do it easily. Similar experience with many other apps.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Deepee
Go to the settings app, when in there look for system and click on it. On the bottom it should say hardware keys, click on that.
At the bottom should be the setting for 3 button menu and I would advise to set another action with the home or apps button to bring up the menu with long press.

i always remap the keys and also enable the 3dot, i think these should be set as the default settings.

[Q] Choose phonebook source?

Hi all. I can't seem to find where to set the default address book to pull up when using the phone app. All I see is all contacts at the top which is definitely not what I want. Thanks!

Go to the people app, on the bottom right tap on the 3 dots and you will see an option to choose which contacts are displayed.
Hope this helps.
