Also how do I fix the tinny audio and enable sideloading after root

This is the most recent hack kit. Pretty easy, just follow the directions in the "effin manual" and you'll be fine (download and unzip the hack kit, the manual is inside). I have used both versions, and that one is greatly simplified.

It definitely does not break anything. However, I can say I'm still getting the same miserably capped speeds in my area as I was factory unrooted. I'm going to have to play with the build.prop settings but I'm a bit nervous.. "if it isn't broke...".
Average 1.65/down - no more than 0.23/up

I was wanting to know the opinions of you guys about z4Root and the possibility of being able to root the Inspire this way. If you look at the OP for z4Root it lists the Desire HD as a device that isn't capable of permanent root. As most of you know, the Inspire is essentially the Desire HD. I don't know if it would be worth rooting the phone every time I shut down the phone.

Are there any downfalls from using the kit? Will I lose anything? I know sound didn't work but isn't that fixed now?

Hey ,
Does the temp root work, when using z4root?
So I've been searching and will continue searching, but I'm just interested in debranding my inspire not really into rooting so if somebody could point me in the right direction or something that would be great. Thanks.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
The only way to even debrand it would be after rooting it.

Not true. What you need to do a make a gold card and then you can flash an unbranded Desire HD ROM. The problem is that kernel and radio in that ROM will not work correctly with the Inspire and you will end up with no sound.

well you have 2 choices for rooting choose 1 & read up on them don't just jump right in & start rooting or you might regret it if something goes wrong ya digg
1.HTC Inspire/DHD Hack Kit V10
2.HTC Inspire 4G Simple One Click
I did my homework and read up on both threads posted above (nearly took an entire month to catch up those massive threads).
I went with the simple one click. The entire rooting process was pretty straight forward, as long as you can follow instructions.
I did not encounter a single issue.
Not to sound like to big a **** but if you can't use search or even just do plain old research you probably should have someone root your device for you. It is a very easy device to root, it just takes a few more steps than most. Look into the hack kit.
Hack Kit is by far the best! ALso join the IRC chan for additional help on the fly

actually, they are really reallly watered down. Just take your time and read the directions as your doing it.
Maybe to educated users. I didn't get a number back when I entered rev Cid. What should I see? I had to learn how use the command prompt before I started. Should I plug in the USB before or after I boot the phone? Format the SD in or out of the phone? Those are the details that I'm talking about.

I agree 100%. If you can follow directions you can root via Bubby's root setup. I did it this weekend without any issues at all.

Since you're already rooted and still on the stocker, flash this. It's the update that you're being prompted to dl but rooted....
Mods:
System image repacked with OTA patches, ROOT & Superuser & Busybox
Boot Image Kernel rebuild with OTA config, TUN and CIFS and EXT4 support added.
Hboot removed so any ENG Hboots are not overwritten.
Stock recovery removed because - well who wants stock recovery?

From the thread's first post.
I think this is the "sideloading" update rolled out in a few places yesterday, which is different from the update added to the ATTN1 ROM. Of course, enabling sideloading is easy, but I'm curious what might be in this update. My phone shows none available right now.
Edit: never mind. I just looked at the details of the screen capture. This is the regular OTA update from AT&T.
So do I need to update or what and if I do I do not won't to loose my hboot

Hey all,
I just bought an Inspire today and am very satisfied with it so far, but I would love to know if there is any way to root the stock 2.3.3 Rom that came with the phone. I didn't update it myself, it came pre-loaded with Gingerbread. I would like to root because I want to be able to get a Rom running that has Sense 3.0. Sorry if this question has already been asked, but I couldn't seem to find anything while sifting through plenty of threads...lol. Thanks again guys!

The instructions are there, just read and follow them you will be fine. Most questions are answerEd in the thread. Its pretty simple even though it seems overwelming.
I was really skerd when I started, but after doing it was I realized I stressed over nothing.
Good luck with it and enjoy.
