Clockworkmod flashable with rom manager - T-Mobile LG G2x

I didn't see this posted but I just successfully installed clockwork with rom manager. It now shows the g2x.

I'm gonna check that out right now. Thanks for the heads up
Sent from my LG-P999

Just checked and installed cwm recovery. Good looking out.

Awesome find!...I can confirm that this works as I'm backing up my rom this very minute. Custom roms are coming very soon...
For those who are new to rom manager...
Install rom manager from the market. Choose flash clockwork recovery and choose lg g2x. That's it and your done! To get into recovery just choose boot into recovery from rom manager.

Installed just fine here. But I can't do a nandroid an error pops up say E:/ can't mount. Will this be made to read internal storage later on?

Do you have a sd card installed?

GEEEEKED
I get mine in a few days CWM going on my bros phone though in like 3 seconds. AWESOME. Thanks to all the devs on the G2X!

I can confirm too.
Flashed it, then tried booting with the reboot app instead of through rom manager, booted to 3.0.2.4 instead of 3.0.2.7, once I rebooted through rom manager it wrote the recovery and then booted to 3.0.2.7
So after pressing flash, boot to recovery on the first attempt through rom manager.

Anyone know if this does the update.zip fakeflash of does it do a perm recovery replacement like Chris's nvflash cwm?

The ones usually provided with other phones are usually crap anyway. I usually7 buy other headphones (provided are never good) and the sSD is usually a lower class, at least in my other phones. I usually have a decent one from previous phones anyway, or will buy if I feel they are needed. Not like they are expensive.
But what does this comment have to do with flashing recovery anyway.
Anyway, getting ready to add this. Always been an Amon_RA fan, but not sure if I will see that here.

I doing think we will ever see an amon_ra recovery here on out. If I can recall he's done with recovery's. Any way I've gotten use to with clock work with my vibrant and my mt4g

That's why the backup didn't work. It tried to find your sd card and when it didn't see it aborted the nandroid. Once you put it in it'll backup fine.

Amon_Ra only does recoveries for phones that he has. Unfortunately he doe not have the g2x so unlikely we will see one from him.

Left Vibrant, New to G2X

He all! I just my G2X today and was wondering. Is it worth rooting yet with no cusom roms available? And if so, can someone point me in the right direction to accomplish this?
I came from the Vibrant and dont know where to start.
Any help, input and direction is greatly appreciated.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Welcome to the club I was also a Vibrant owner before this.. So here is some quick info that may help save you some time searching.
If you plan on keeping the phone I would root it to get rid of unwanted apps but that is each users own opinion. If you do want to root it I would read this thread to make it easy. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039985
Also if you want to add ClockworkMod Recovery all you need to do is get the newest version of rom manager off the market and select flash ClockworkMod Recovery and the G2X will be the third device down.
After that set back and wait for the custom roms to show up and you will be ready to have all kinds of fun
Hope that helps *some*

So that means that we can create a Nandroid Backup? or the mounted internal memory as sd card will be a problem?
I knew to just wait and it would be a easier way to get clockwork recovery on my g2x using one click root v1.7 because the latest version 1.8 didn't work.plus I heard cyanogen mod 7 is only a couple weeks away

Well I just double checked and it still does not detect internal sd card.. Wanted to post this as soon as double checked as I was using my external. let me look through it more and I will keep you updated
Thanks for the friendly welcome and replies. Im gonna check out that link.
edit:
i downloaded all requested files. when i plug in my phone it starts to read it correctly but then i get a window saying it did not install properly. i clicked root anyway and it wont get past "waiting for phone". did i do something wrong?

What is all this?!?! HELP PLEASE

Hi,
This is my first ever Samsung phone, and let me just say. It very different from HTC.
-infact this isnt even my phone, its my mom's. And its laggy like crazy.
Could you guys explain some things to me,
- voodoo
- "red" cwm
- modems (im guessing radios)
- ODIN
Or even better if you guys can just walk me through on how to flash this one certain rom link
I know i sound like a noob, and i agree that i am in terms of Samsung phones.
THe phone is already rooted, and its running Stock + Root
So could you guys please help me, T_Mobile wont, but i know the helpful XDA community will.
Thanks Sooo Much in Advance!!!

Follow the link above to get cwm final. Make sure you push the files to the correct spot as mentioned in the post. After that just download icbinb and flash through cwm. Before your flash make sure your mounts are like so
Unmount cache
Mount data
Mount sdcard
Unmount system
This is how the mounts should look before you flash and before rebooting after the flash. Hope this helps ya and good luck

With cwm final (orange cwm) there is no voodoo. But once you install the Bali kernel cwm will turn red and give you another option which is voodoo. Know to dissable voodoo you just need to navigate to voodoo once in cwm(red) and make sure it is dissabled. Youll see what everyone is talking about once you get a rom with Bali kernel or just flash Bali kernel with any froyo ROM.

I appreciate all your help.
Ive tried this multiple times with multiple sd cards. Not making a difference. I will look into to this issue still.
Till then im just stuck on stock........
I dont really like Samsung anymore. This was soo much easier on HTC phones, no ODIN, no Voodoo, none of that stuff.......
im going to odin one more time, see if that helps
EDIT: Seems like it worked didnt give me any issues this time!!!!!
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH.
im going to hunt down all of your posts and "Thank" them all
But first let me let it reboot
Glad you got it. And just to give you the heads up it is rumored that kd1 has a bad system partition and has caused issues with other user myself included. I personally cant say that it is or if its just ghost in the machines but somtimes it ok and somtimes not. So I would recommend grabing the kc1 stock for Odin if you havent already.
Also if you plan on sticking with the sgs4g I would recommend checking out the sgs4g Bible in the developers section of our forum. I appreciate the thanks and happy modding

Recommended ROMs

I know there are a few of these threads in other device forums but I am posing this question to G2x owners only. What is the best ROM in your opinion for use on the G2x? I just rooted mine and have ClockworkMod 5.0.2.0 running with ROM Manager in place. Now it is time to play. A little background, I am a Red Hat instructor so any ROMs a linux nerd might find useful that play nice on the G2x hardware would be awesome.
I've used weapon g2x for a while and it was pretty good. Switched to cyanogenmod 7.2 and it's also pretty good. I've heard phoenixblood is also amazing.
I recommend you just jump in and try them.

Mileage varies with different people so the best way to pick a ROM is to try them yourself. Make sure you use Titanuim Backup to help keep your apps and data through the changes.
cm nightlies is what I use
i like the bionix theme

I never knew why people use RM. Just boot into CWM. RM can **** up at times. I've even seen it brick some people's phones. Also, the G2x uses a modded CWM. So using RM wouldn't be a good idea either way.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I flashed my first ROM with ROM manager, and of course something went wrong, and the G2x wouldn't boot up. At the time, I thought I messed it all up and bricked my phone.
CWM is just a safer option. Even if the flash goes bad, you can still boot into CWM and do a nandroid restore, then it's like nothing happened in the first place. Plus after you've done it once, it's actually a really simple process to do, but now you have an added safety net.
Yupp use cwm much more stable and easier? I used rm and it soft bricked my phone. Managed to fix it tho with nvgflash

The recovery partition on Tegra 2 devices works very differently from the recovery partition on almost all other devices. Rom Manager works around this by simply installing it's own version of CWM on a portion of your system partition (I'm fairly certain that is where it places it, but I could be wrong). The Tegra architecture protects certain partitions from being written to while in anything other than recovery or NVFLASH. This prevents certain blobs from being flashed properly with RM. Also, some options can wipe the partition the RM flashed 'CWM' is on, completely removing your non NVFLASHED recovery. While it is extremely rare that this CWM could do permanent damage to the device, it's just generally safer and more consistent to use the 'real' CWM that you flash to the device with NVFLASH, as it is on the proper partition and separate from any partition that a ROM might attempt to format.
Makes sense. Goodbye Rom Manager. Thanks guys.

Here's a preview build now that my source tree is mostly sorted out: http://www.mediafire.com/?1nhagihfoqqpkf3
To flash, you must first flash this recovery: http://www.mediafire.com/?2000k5y512spft4
Then boot into recovery, wipe data/cache, go to mounts and storage and format system, then flash the rom. Gapps are here: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip . You'll probably have to mount system manually under mounts and storage before flashing gapps.
I've only tested this using gingerbread bootloaders, no idea if it works using froyo bootloaders. If you don't want to deal with the caveats of gb bootloaders, then well, fix it yourself.
what works:
radio (calls/sms/data)
touchscreen
audio
wifi
sensors
hw acceleration
software and hardware video decoding
data usage monitor (for wifi at least)
what doesn't work:
camera/camcorder
bluetooth
anything else is either broken or completely untested.

How long did it take you all to get off of the initial Samsung logo at start up to the cm9 boot animation after flashing? It has been roughly 10 minutes so far and it hasn't moved. My recovery is all screwed up with funny colors, but it's nice to know that others have encountered the weird recovery as well... was on Devestion before following the steps for flashing cm9.

Just want to say in my years of modding Android I have been using clockwork recovery exclusively. It was the only thing available really. It worked great. I was used to the interface and I was just plain comfortable with it. Good ol trusty CWM!
So now this team win recovery becomes available and I'm like do I really need this? What's the point? Cwm works and I love it. No need to change. I can still backup, restore, flash all roms and mods with no issue. Anyway it seemed like the twrp was gaining some traction. So I figured id give it a shot.
Wow. So glad I did. I mean it seriously loads up so nicely. The interface is a lot more intuitive. It has all the same capability as cwm and then some. Its amazing. Somehow the backups and restores only take about a minute each! How do they do that?!?! Cwm takes about 15 minutes to backup or restore! And you can flash multiple zips at one time! Again that is another amazing feature.
The point of this post is just to let those of you on cwm know what you are missing. Seriously you gotta try TWRP recovery. You just download the zip from the thread in development and flash in cwm. After one reboot...boom...game changer ...you'll see

Really it is a flashable zip, I thought you had to install with adb/fastboot?
EDIT: Just seen the update, it's been a while since I've looked into another recovery, will give it a try!

Are you using the compression with your backups? It seems so far a step up from cwm IMHO.
So reading this brings up the question (from me):
I'm currently on CWM with the latest Cleanrom dev edition. How would I go about safely changing recoveries on over to TWRP?

Just go to development and download the flashable zip and flash in cwm and reboot.

Wow. That seems dangerously easy haha.
For some reason I was thinking that would botch something and brick me.

Here's link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703626
Or you can do the tdlr way and just install goo manager from the market. It installs TWRP the sane way from manager installs CWM

If I AM using the compression option, I'm doing it unknowingly. All I do is just press backup and don't select any other options. And it flies. I mean seriously on cwm when it was time backup I was like damn no phone for a while just put it down and walk away for a bit...but now it literally takes less than 2 minutes. I'm like what? Did it really backup EVERYTHING?!?!?...
...and it did...backup...everything
Like I said.. gamechanger

How much did they pay you to make this thread OP?
I'll give it a try
Do we have to create new backups with TWRP or will the CWM ones work?

How big are your backup, I had to check the compression option, which takes it a little longer, but this is by far IMHO the best recovery I've seen in years.
I'm from the EVO LTE side of things and CWM isn't available yet, so we're forced to use TWRP, boy let me tell you'll never go back to CWM once you use TWRP. Flashes and back-ups are done in what seems like 1 minute. The touch interface is great. GUYS JUST FLASH IT AND FORGET IT!!!

The 2 backups I have are just under .8 gb for aokp and 1.2 gb for clean rom.
Have actually tried restoring one if those compressed backups? How does that work?
