Am I supposed to be able to use these as a mic in a call as well? Is there a setting to turn that on? Just plugging them in yields no voice on the other side.
Also can't figure out what the button does.
Help?

im not sure about the mic part but i use it in calls and works perfectly ppl hear me loud and clear ionno if its the phone mic or not...but the button on other hand is basically play/pause button when playing music well atleast it is on cyanogenmod
Can you try putting your phone in your pockets and try it again. I think it picks up the voice from the phone's mic.

If you look at the backside of the button piece on the headphones, there is a small hole and that is a microphone. If its not working correctly you might want to consider bringing it back to where you bought it and seeing about exchanging at the very least the headphones.

Never really paid attention until I noticed that I couldn't really hear you tube videos and music! Which was fine before, it was loud enough! So it was then I realized sound was only coming out one side so dunno!
I'm getting a replacement either way and I'll compare the two!
...
it's been confirmed numerous times that one is a mic and the other is a speaker.

i use a program like total recorder to boost the volume of my ringtones, then copy them back to my sdcard. there are a couple of free apps online that do the same.

Wow! Can't believe they sent you a replacement for a problem that doesn't exist.

WOW .... that is lame as hell .... and this is an LG product??? No wonder my d2 sounded better and was louder
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
How is that lame? You would prefer two speakers and no mic? Then it wouldn't be a phone, would it?
2 speakers and a Mic would be nice. Other than the noticeably low volume I love this phone.

volume+ seems to let you do some audio tweaking i had the same problem where my audio was all the way up and wasnt very loud i downloaded and installed Volume+ i think it is on the market not sure but this allowed me to run my volume at 1/2 up and its loud as heck
it sets speaker, headset and as well as bluetooth volume levels
This doesn't allow me to boost past factory settings

Are both speakers at the bottom of the g2x supposed to have music coming out of them? On mine it only comes out of the right one.

One is a microphone and one is a speaker.
Pro Tip: If you hold the phone upside down then the speaker will be at the top. This provides a more uplifting sound and also boosts the high notes somewhat.
It does take a little getting used to the inverted image on the screen but eventually the brain adjusts... then it just looks like everyone else's phone is upside down.

One mic and one speaker. Here is the illustration from the owner's manual.
A simple search would have found you the answer as this has been discussed many times already.

And leaving this thread with one question that has already been answered alone would have made good sense.
A reply that is both condescending and late serves no purpose.

Calm down bro! the guy did not respond to that post which I replied to days ago until after I made this thread. I honestly don't care about thread count so stop saying that I am boosting it.
all the veterans are always so fiesty. You are mixed with the masses now, it's gonna happen, just get used to it. I did. Dont let the new account fool you, I lost access to my old email and had to make a new one... time for change!
On to the actual topic. I am curious about this as well... I plan on taking the phone apart soon so it would be nice to know what to expect...
It's the mic for the camcorder.

Im sure you are wrong about it being a Mic for the camcorder, it is most likely for noise cancellation

Well, if I'm wrong, why does the recorded audio sound exactly the same if I completely cover the mic on the bottom edge of the phone (the one used for voice calls)?
Edit: I'm sure it's used for noise cancellation too, if that even works - but generally, it doesn't, cause every time I use the phone in a noisy area, the person on the other end can hear everything.

what your saying all the noise cancellation is true however I thought that I remember that if I covered up the mic on the bottom that it did make the video sound quiet, maybe I'm actually wrong

Yesterday I was talking to my friend on loud speaker and noticed sound only coming out of the right speaker. I checked music after the call and noticed the same. Is it possible there is only one speaker and the left side is the mic? Or perhaps my phone isn't functioning properly? I'm on Weapon G2x 3.0 with ICS Theme.
