I got this one and it works without problems that i have seen
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211535
but it was on sale for 10 bucks cheaper and i guess the sale has ended. but if your set on a class 10 than sandisk ,patriot and lexar seem to be the most popular. i was looking for adequate and cheap with decent reviews of it actually working so thats why i got that one. im happy with it so far. but for 10 bucks more might not be worth not going for the class 10's.
here is another convo on the subject.

Lexar 32 GB Class 10 all the way. It lives up to a class 10. Don't buy off ebay as they may be fake. It may show 32 GB on the disk and on the computer but it won't save up to 32 gb. It may also be only a class 4 or 2. Get a lexar 32 gb off amazon.

Does class 10 really matter when it comes to a smartphone? I have no experience with the different classes so if people can fill me in. Thanks!!
Just out of curiosity, what do people need 32gb + 8gb internal space for? What do you put on your phone that uses that much space? Music?

Music, movies, documents, pictures, all of the above. The advantage to the modern smartphone is that it eliminates the need to carry multiple devices everywhere. With a phone like this one, it would be a shame to NOT have a couple of your favorite movies on it in good quality, as the screen is excellent and I'm pretty sure that's why there is a mini-HDMI out on this thing.
As for mine, I keep The Hangover and a selection of a couple other movies I could watch 200 times over on my phone. I also have about 4GB of the most recent flavor of musical interest as well, and keep some general information PDFs and some tech files and notes for work and school on my phone. Oh, and I plan on using it as my primary camera at the next few trade shows I go to.

Well I think the Optimus G2x is one of the first phones to record in 1080p. If you are recording at the resolution if can fill up a little 8gb card in no time. I think a 10 min 1080p file is like 2gb.
I bought a sandisk 32gb card from amazon for $60 and having no issues with it.

yeah tahts what i paid 54.99. seems to work fine.
and for the person that asked . yeah music and videos mainly , i also may develop for this device. not sure yet. i really had no life for 9 months doing it for the droid 1 so not sure i want to commit the time again but maybe . and that takes some space messing with things. not sure i need 40 gigs but i did run out of space on the 16 gig card on the droid.

Wow! We now have a Rhodium CDMA thread!!
Just a post to let those who purchase a CDMA/GSM TP2 that I am using a 16Gig RiData Class 6 card purchased from Newegg for $50 about a week and a half ago with no issues.
I do recall a post for GSM versions that Transcend branded memory did not work.
Please post your results for those who are looking to purchase higher capacity memory.

look at rom development
I don't have a 16GB Transcend but I bought an 8GB one off of eBay for pretty cheap and it works well with my Telus TP2.
16gb duracell, working well.
Class 7 ?
Hi,
I just bought an PNY 8G premium micro sd
Read: 15 MB/s
Write: 7 MB/s
Capacity: 8 GB
Trans speed: 15 MB/s
I think it has the best performance you can get at the moment. If i'm wrong please tell me wich one is better in speed and quality (besides its capacity of course).
I have a 16GB kingston bought off E-Bay ... working flawlessly, it's only class 2 I believe, but I notice no lag when loading up or transferring apps.

When comparing prices, please make sure to note the speed class also. This is talked about in another thread somewhere, but basically there are class 2, 4, 6 and coming eventually 10. Class 2 is the slowest, but also the least expensive. The speed is supposedly important when transferring data back and forth from the micro SD card to the PC or phone, accessing data stored on the card from a program running on the phone, and when using programs that are stored on the card. I don't have anything to compare what that means in real life terms, people with Class 2 don't seem to have any complaints, but I'd imagine watching a movie stored on the card would be the true test, and that may be answered in another thread.
I happen to have a Transcend 8gb Class 6, which is working great.
16 GB?
Not to be an @ss, but more importantly, what do you need 16 GB for?
I have a 4 GB with TomTom maps taking up half and I can't imagine filling the rest of it with pictures or video. Just curious what people actually use the capacity on a phone for, other than to say they have it...
I would assume most want it for video and music. Ipods come in MINIMUM 4GB these days.

True, I guess I don't use my phone for entertainment too much, mostly work. So I never think to use it for a music or video player.
Hey guys,
got my new SanDisk 32GB MicroSDHC (Class 2) Card yesterday and it is performing great so far.
But before that, I'd like to warn you that there are tons of fake cards floating around.
I bought a 32GB Card one week ago and it turned out to be fake:
h**p://img517.imageshack.us/img517/6867/unbenannt3kj.jpg
I've tested to write the full capacity to the card but apparently this card only holds up to 1,9GB.
DON'T BUY FROM EBAY OR OTHER "SMALL BUSINESS SHOPS" You'll most likely get a fake card.
Really pissed after this experience I decided to buy from a reliable computer shop and spend more money and received my 32GB Card yesterday, and what can I say? It's better than I expected for a Class 2 card.
Check out the results here:
h**p://img155.imageshack.us/img155/4060/s32gbsdhc.jpg
As you can see, this card is genuine and you can write up to ~30GB to it.
The write speed with 5,21mb/s is pretty good for a Class 2 Card. Also the read speed is quite decent with 14 mb/s
This is more than sufficient for HD video recording and all the other things you'd wanna do with your Galaxy S.
I didn't expierence any lags with my phone using this card. Switching between photos, music etc.... all goes very smoothly.
Here's also a HDTune (3.50) shot for you guys interested in the read iops:
h**p://img85.imageshack.us/img85/1818/s32gbsdhc2.jpg
Verdict: All things considered, I think this card performs fairly well without slowing down my Galaxy S. Watching tons videos/photos, listening to a huge music library and not having to worry about storage is really great.
The only downside of this card is the price (I've paid 108€) but considering the fact that the iPhone with 32GB is bloody expensive and with this card you would have up to 40GB of storage on your Galaxy S, this card is really a bargain and I fully recommend it.
That's great! I'm also considering to buy one the 16gb class4 version, but it seems difficult to find in Europe.

some space will be taken by the file allocation table when the card is formatted as with all drives from harddrive to memory cards.
also the 32gb is somewhat less than 32gb in true storage size

I've bought it in Germany (ARLT Computer).
talking about memory and disk stuff,
32GB=32.000.000.000 bytes
wich is, 30517,58 MB or 29,80 GB
this is for the simple fact
a 8GB hard disk contains 8.000.000.000 bytes
a 8GB ram stick contains 8*1024*1024*1024=8589934592 bytes
That's a lot of cash considering a non-fake Toshiba Class 2 16gb is currently selling for £17.99 delivered in the UK?
€108 equates to about £90!
32GB cards are currently considerably more expensive than 2 x 16GB cards.
Where's the deal on that 16GB in the UK btw...?
So you can use micro SD HC cards with the galaxy s? I was told that you had to use an adapter because the device only has a micro SD slot? Sorry if this is a silly question, i haven't really dealt with external flash storage that much apart from my old sony ericsson walkman phone which used stick pro duo or something like that.

Yea, it doesn't lag; at least there is nothing what I would describe as "laggy".
It does take some time to load 100s of photos on the gallery app, but I think this is quite normal.
At least if I view a hires picture, it opens up near instantly. Switching between pics and focusing also happens very quickly.
I'm happy with it so far. Having used this card for more than two months I don't have any complaints at all and I fully recommend it.
How is 720p hd recording with the card? Try it and see if the recorded video is stuttering. Ty.

Great!!! Gonna buy today! wee.. I hope my Media Scanner service won't choke up when I load all my media...!
Have you tried to play 720p MKVs from the memory card, how was it?
Just purchased 32GB Sandisk micro SD. To my knowledge Sandisk has only one 32GB micro SD card and it's a class 2. I have had same, but in 8GB capacity. From time to time I copy/backup folders to external SD: Navionics, Epocrates, and TitaniumBackup...up to 460MB. On 8GB it would take a minute or two each, but with new 32GB it takes forever. Both class 2; same manufacturer, but smaller one much faster. Any suggestions?
Infusion of Android
Class it up! Try a class 4 or 6.
nvm: I read later that you mentioned you get a faster speed on a Class 2 8gig than on a Class 2 32 gig. I just need coffee. Ignore my comment
I have a Sandisk 32gb Class 2... and it's slooooow. So I tried a 32GB Class 4, and it's still equally slow. I'm beginning to think it's the device, not the memory card. I'm getting annoyed with how much just having a memory card in the slot slows down the phone. I may just tolerate the internal 16gb and stop using an "external SD" because it's gotten super annoying waiting for it to scan all the time.
I have an adata class 4 32gb and its pretty good copying to and from. I got it from a quality retailer. If you didnt get it from a quality retailer, TEST it with h2testw app on the pc and make sure its real. It will take a long time to test it. Writing will go quick and you wont see any errors, but reading and verifying the writen data will take a lot longer and thats where the errors will show if its truly not a legitimate card.
I got a couple of fakes off ebay that i got refunded for, but these people sell thousands of these things on there and alot of people get fooled because they seem to work fine, UNTIL down the road when you cant read the data and lose a ton of stuff.
If you test it and get no errors on the reading side, you got a slow card and thats all there is to it. Its not the phone becuase it works fine with cards for most everyone. Not many complaints showing up

Correction. It's a Class 4 that I bought from Staples.
Sandisk technical chat was a joke and commented:"Well there is no guaranteed read and write speed. Still you can try formatting it with a tool called HP Tool"
My response:"Your comment could be construed as a copout. I believe everyone should have the guarantee that when same manufacturer produces a product and one is classed to have double the transfer capability ...... it should perform as such"
Sandisk chat :"I understand but we do not have any read and write speed on micro SDHC card"

Kudos to you for challenging them... Unfortunately the world is becoming more and more of a marketing-reality. Something can be marketed as anything. AT&T decided they'd rather call their 3G a "4G network" rather than update to 4G... Sandisk decided to call their Class 4 a "Class 4" without any sort of technical evidence of it complying with the standard... and who's going to stand up to them, just like who's going to stand up to AT&T? Very sad state we've gotten to.

Does PNY make Class 10 16 or 32gb cards? In searching on Amazon 32gb Micro SD Class 10, I'm seeing Lexar, and Patriot. The Patriot gets mediocre reviews saying that it dies frequently, and is incompatible with many devices. I'm thinking of buying the Lexar, but I still haven't seen anyone post any better read\write speeds, so I'm wondering if the Samsung can even read\write faster than class 4.

i never have problems because i watch the reviews to see whats real and what isn't and if price isn't the issue and its over a certain amount i just use Prime and get it the next day.
Certain amount i mean by like if its more than 50+ ill just pay the 4$ to get it next day.
And you can on any amount as long as prime is available but i'm not paying 4$ for overnight shipping on something like a micro sd card or something stupid though. that i can wait plus if you have prime you get free 2 day shipping
Everything PNY I've ever bought has burned up or just stopped working within a few months. I wouldn't recommend them.

I just got my 32gb Class 10 Wintec card from Newegg that was on sale for $24. I couldn't run any throughput tests and it but I did compare the boot up time against the stock 16gb card that came with the phone. The old card took around 1 min 30 secs to complete the scan while the new card took 1 min 10 secs.

Bought the same card about a month ago at CompUSA for 5 bucks more. No complaints from me, great card.

Mine is class 10 speeds and the 32gb version is as well for a cheaper price and max I get is 15MB/s write the highest and read I haven't tested it yet.
I think its foolish to pay 40$ for a PNY when the transcend is just as good if not better for less money

True, I'm all for the best deal possible (though post some benchmarks of a h2testw assessment)

PNY is a great company, I can't speak for their memory directly but I have purchased a PNY graphics card (which has memory onboard ) and it hasn't died and has been in service for many months, if not a year, now.

Benchmark! (h2testw) , it's a really easy utility to verify both speed and capacity on an your sd card
I've had six two piece sets of 1gb ram strips burn out in several different computers all within 1-3 months (I didn't buy them all, they kept replacing them) and had the fan go out on two graphics cards in less than a week each.
To each their own but personally my opinion is their customer service is great, their hardware quality is ****.

Buy.com has 32GB MicroSD cards on sale for $19-$30 depending on the brand. I bought mine on sale at RadioShack for $29.95, but I didn't know about this deal. I have the SanDisk. I'm not sure if the cheaper Toshiba cards are compatible with the Epic.
Edit: Apparently, I can't link to the site. Anti-spam rules. No big. Google knows all.

Capacity Formatted in all is 14.8GB so 15GB so close enough for me.
And for 19.99$; That's a 16GB Class 10 and hits those speeds i'm thinking its pretty good if you ask me.

Indeed, awesome!
Ok been a while since I needed one, since my HTC is now gone :crying: I assume class 10 is still what is best? What else should I be watching out for before I buy the wrong thing LOL. Seems like Lexar and Samsuck are he favorites. I plan on using it a lot for pictures and videos on vacation this year and I usually keep music and audiobooks on the phone some movies for the kids when traveling too.
Look at an sandisk brand
I got this one and it's been working great.

Samsung does not have the 128GB Pro out yet so I got the EVO.
Also what is better about the SDXC or SDHC? Does it matter? If its a class 10 card?
Depends on what the transfer rate is pretty much
So SDXC vs SDHC we should just check the transfer rates?
Sdhc n sdxc are just different storage capacity. I think after 32gb it goes to sdxc. Write speed is what determines if a card us good or not. Sandisks 30mbps cards are faster than some other brands 45mbps cards

Wow you guys are really liking the San Disks. All the other threads had everyone saying they have went to hell on their cards. So I had kinda written them off. I mean I know Kingston cards aren't good I had many of those die back in the days when I needed them before LOL. What would be the min speed on transfer for storing video on one? Like vacation movies etc.
60mb/s should be enough for anything you throw at it
None of the ones I have looked at are 60MB a second. They run from 30 to 48, where could I get a 60mb per second card?

Hi,
If it is not too much trouble, can you run the A1 SD Benchmark on Android and post a screenshot? I am debating between getting the Samsung and the Lexar 128GB microSD card.

The Lexar 633x is rated for up to 95MBPS

LOL is it really mandatory to have that speed of card to record HD video? I know I need a big card but can the Note 4 even use the speed of that card?
Lexar
From my experience, Lexar is good, but not their Micro SD cards. I went with the Samsung EVO 128GB card and I have had zero issues with It. As far as SanDisk goes, I have a 32GB SDHC and a 64 GB SDXC. The SDXC card gets noticeably hot when reading/writing lots of data. On my Samsung SDXC, I xfr'd the same file and it took about 10 seconds less (out of 45 seconds, big difference) and didn't get nearly as hot. As far as class goes, A class 10 is good for archival usage but if you plan of recording anything more than 1080p/30, I would use a UHS-1 or 3 card. UHS has a higher minimum transfer rate than C10 does. I have recorded 4K video on my Note 4 directly to the Sammy SDXC for almost a full uninterrupted 45 minutes and had absolutely no problem. Immediately following that, I recorded 1080p/60 and still had no problems. My Logic was, Samsung phone, Samsung card, less chance for something to go wrong.
I purchased this on black friday for $99.99 and been using ever since its great!!

On your phone recording 4k it writes 6.25 or so mb/s so even getting a 30 mb/s card you'll be fine
