I just ordered the g2x and I was wondering if anyone has the scoop an an ETA for gingerbread, or if it's going to be possible to upgrade to gingerbread without rooting. Thanks!

My wife got stuck with the crappy motorola cliq. All it is is a problem. Does anyone know how to root it and fix all of it's problems? I assume it will be in the form of a rom.
Also I've heard something about a 2.1 official update, anyone know about that?

Your best bet is to check out the forum here
http://modmymobile.com/forums/399-motorola-cliq/
and
HandlerExploit's site here
that will get you started. Your best bet, if your wife likes the keyboard, but doesn't care for blur, find her a mytouch slide. The cliq was a phone that could have been so much more, but fell far short.
ive got a cliq and this is how i got 2.1 on my phone.
Follow the instructions in this video to get 2.1 on unrooted cliq: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAzbtlIh5iU&feature=related
and if you want to root it follow this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npkpx56SHdo&feature=related
Thanks alot I'll have to check out those videos, they don't wanna work on my phone.

My wife just got a Citrus (CDMA) and I was able to root it, but she wants Froyo. It shipped with Eclair and I knew finding a Froyo upgrade would be a tall order, but, has anyone seen or heard about a Froyo ROM for the Citrus (aka Ciena)? I figure if I am going to get any answers, it will be here. Thanks to any and all that can provide some insight.
I was wondering if Froyo was released yet for Samsung Captivate? I know there are posts asking this already but has there been any recent update in the past few days?
Thanks!
Don't hold your breath.
The way I understand it, Samsung wants AT&T to pay for the upgrade to Froyo in the U.S. Soooooooo, it may be awhile. I suggest Root and Rom.
I currently have the Samsung Captivate right now (i'm with Rogers in Canada BTW) and not happy that the android updates to gingerbread are slow as heck or may not even get it at all.
I was thinking of getting the Nexus S (buying it outright) because I know i will get gingerbread and all its update OTA (no flipping Kies).
Here's my questions...
How long will Google giving this phone updates? will we get Ice cream or stuck with Gingerbread.
How's the battery.
I know I won't be able to use my SD micro card but i'm willing to sacrifice it to get no touchwiz on the phone and future updates.
Thanks in advanced.
I would advise you to root your captivate rather than switch honestly, to save money.
Once you root, you have access to custom roms that don't have touch wiz like CM7 which is AOSP 2.3.5 gingerbread modified and available for over 50 devices.

Just got my new HTC Evo 3D this week. Had a HTC Evo 4thruG before. Had it replaced insurance after my phone had some issues and was quite pleased to get the new 3D for the $100 deductible. Guess nobody has the old EVO's anymore.
I am quite familiar with customs roms and rooting. Did it quite a bit on my old phone. But with Ice Cream sandwich coming to the EVO 3D, I am wondering should I even bother rooting or just wait for ICS? Supposed to come to the EVO 3D Q1 2012 I think.
Wondering if it's worth it? Thoughts?
Help and advice is appriciated
