Is there a good and preferably free application to backup an image of my SD that has the CM7 installation. It took a LONG time to create and download applications and books. I prefer not to do it again.
I just tried Acronis backup and it did backup and restore the boot partition. The problem is that there are three others created when you first boot on the Nook and these partitions are not marked active and they are not seen by Acronis or any other by the android applications since there is no other place to put user data that I know of. I assume these are used by the applications on Nook since the internal storage is not being used or at least I cannot find out where things like downloaded applications and books are placed.
Therefore, have I lost all of my data?
Have I lost my CM7 install
Can the now single boot partition that uses the whole card be used to do a new install and will it be used for user data storage after that?

I went out and bought a 16GB class 10 microSD card to put into my HTC Incredible, mostly for the speed increase over the slow 4G card I used to have in this phone.
Realizing I had a lot of space to play with, I started moving apps (that could move) to the SD card.
I am running CM7 nighties, but I believe this question is for anyone using app2sd.
The problem I ran into was my backups are incomplete. In a situation where all the apps are in /data/app, something like nandroid or doing a backup from Rom Manager or directly from Clockworkmod gets everything. So you can literally backup and get back to EXACTLY the same state you were in when you backed up.
However, when you have apps on the sd card, this backup/restore no longer works 100%, since the process does not backup the sd card apps or the settings/pointer to the sd card apps.
It's fairly easy to recreate this problem:
1. install CM7 or any ROM/kernel with app2sd support
2. move some app (doesn't matter which) to the sd card
3. create a backup
Now when you restore this backup, the app you installed in step 2. will be gone. At least when I've done it. I thought what was happening to me was the "auto restore" feature was wiping my settings and reverting to some old backup from my time running the stock sense ROM, but I think in reality what happened was:
- the restore "worked" in the sense that it restored /system, /data, etc
- however, my launcher app (launchpad pro) was on the sd card, so I booted into a half-broken ADW launcher home screen with my old ADW settings I had abandoned a while ago
- apps I had installed to the sd card didn't show up, so I had to reinstall them to the sd card or install to internal memory then move them to the sd card
So my question is - how can I do a proper FULL backup while using app2sd? I want the same behavior where I can simply create a backup and be able to restore it to get back to the identical state I was in when I created the backup. Are there any backup apps out there that know about the app2sd /mnt/asec that can back it up properly so this will work?
If there's no way to do this, I think anyone who is serious about having a good single image snapshot would avoid app2sd like the plague since it makes restoring you phone a WAY more time consuming process (have to re-download/re-install all apps, then move them to the sd card again, etc).

I want to be ready to transfer all data over to the new device, but I have a few specific questions that may be better contained in one thread that folks can reference (without having to hunt around XDA)
Question 1 - Apps on SD Card
Like many 16GB tab users, most of the larger apps are on the external memory. I've not owned a device with a "Move to SDCARD" solution baked in before, so my question is:
Can I pop the sdcard out of one tablet and when inserted into the new device, the apps on external storage will sort themselves out and be loaded when the new device boots?
Question 2 - Apps on Local Storage
I'll need to back these up (naturally), but is there a way in TiBu to specify apps on a particular storage target (for example, internal memory or external memory)?
The way I understand it, I'd need to create a backup profile for Games (on external SD) and Apps (on internal SSD) and manage the backups this way.
My thinking is that I'd need to restore the large data apps in a separate restore so I could specify the storage target.
Is that even possible in TiBu?
Otherwise I would run out of room if I tried to flash an update.zip with all the apps back onto the shield's SSD.
Question 3 - TiBu-created update.zip and Stock Recovery
I've stuck with the factory recovery, however I have Towelrooted and use Flashify to do any OTA updates.
If I created an update.zip in TiBu, would I need to also load a custom recovery (CWM) to flash this back to the device? Or would the custom recovery allow me to flash a zip created by TiBu (I've got a feeling I'm outta luck here).
Summary
If the steps I've proposed here sound really cludgy or onerous to any of you, I'd love to get your thoughts about how to restore data with minimal fuss back to the new tablet. Any power tips are welcome, and may help others in the same situation.

I'd assume that if you're fully stock, a simple factory reset would do the trick after running SuperSU's unroot option. Titanium will backup just fine. I'm assuming your backups are on the microSD. When you restore them, you could make the external storage the default installation location when restoring those apps. But it may not be necessary if those apps were programmed to prefer external memory. Won't be too hard to even manually move them over if you don't happen to have many apps like that.
Hei guys, I own a Chinese handphone. Tweaked it so much, soft bricked it numerous times, but I got the stock rom at my disposal anyway so it doesn't matter much. It's cheap so I can actually do some experiments or tested non Play Store, or even suspicious apps on it.
However, going back and forth to stock then reconfigure everything is rather tedious task to do.
I did installed a CWM recovery and did a full nandroid backup. But it's seem that CWM backup didn't overwrite the old one so when I do a second one it failed, saying I'm out of space? I still got about 2 GB on internal storage, and 8 GB on external storage. It's said my folder (I forgot which, it's /data if I'm not mistaken) don't have space left. This is one funny thing about my phone, it doesn't use the internal storage at all. I cannot move the apps to the internal storage as well, only to the external SD card.
I'm out of space probably also because I move so many app as system. This way when I do a factory reset I got all my updated apps within, without the need to reinstall it.
So, the questions :
Is there any way to make CWM to actually update a backup, instead of creating a new one? Which partition I should wipe from CWM if I want to create an updated backup? It is convenient to do the restore directly from CWM, but I cannot update the backup, with that space problem.
How about creating a full custom ROM flashable image of my phone on which I can save to my PC instead?
How about going on fetching the nandroid backup CWM generated? Is it flashable using SP Tool? But I can't find the files anywhere in my system.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm an idiot. I can actually save the CWM backup into the internal SD. It's visible on any file manager within the folder "clockworkmod".
Sorry I did have experience with CWM, but never use it for backup, only to flash patches.
A few days ago, I upgraded my Redmi Note 4X from the Android 7 based MIUI 11 to custom MIUI 12 firmware, based on Android 9. Since I wanted to keep all my apps, I first rooted my phone and did a backup with Super Backup & Restore. After installing the new ROM (which was already rooted with Magisk) and installing Super Backup again. For some reason, it deleted all the data from its backup folder on my MicroSD Card. Fortunately, I was able to recover just about everything using some data recovery software on my PC.
For some reason, if I restore the apps using Super Backup, they crash when I open them. This is happening to, after flashing the MIUI 11 firmware again. It also is happening on a different phone.
As an alternative, instead of using Super Backup, I've tried copying and pasting the app data for an app (that has already been installed again on my phone) that Super Backup backed up, to apps folder on my phone's internal storage, replacing the current data there, with the data from by backup. However, when I do that, although what ever file manager I use, says it has successfully pasted the data, the app data on the phone does usually not get overwritten. To give two examples. When I try and replace the database used by the Meizu Notes app, with the database from the backup it does not get replaced. I even tried to do the same with AROMA File Manager with TWRP and it made no difference. Not only does the Notes app not show the data from my backup, but if I open the database file in a file manager, it also does not show that data. I find this to be strange, as I get no errors when pasting the data from my MicroSD Card and choosing to overwrite the existing data.
The second example, is this. I tried to use my old Coc Coc Browser's bookmarks file. After doing so, Coc Coc, had no bookmarks. I then manually added a bookmark to Coc Coc, after which, I tried copying the bookmarks file again. Coc Coc now actually had my old bookmarks and not the one bookmark I just added, which is quite strange, as it the file copy hadn't worked the first time.
I am looking for some way to be able to actually restore the app data from my backup. I've already quite a few hours trying to find a solution, with no luck so far. But I figure, that there must be some way to do it. Based on past experiences, I really should have made backups with two different backup apps, as I know that sometimes restoring backups can be problematic. But due to limited free space on my MicroSD Card, I decided not to. I just wish that there was a decent native backup solution for Android, as I always want all of my app data restored when switching ROMs, or phones and not just the apps themselves.
Hi i recently made a backup with wondershare mobile trans and it created a .BAK file of 30gb and it is corrupted i don't know why, I can't read videos and photos (if you know any way to access the data in it even if it is corrupted please tell me), i tried extracting it with winrar but it only extracts 6gb of some photos , the rest is corrupted it can't finish extraction.
I flashed a new rom and orange fox recovery , i have root access , i installed disk digger with full root access but it can't find any photo (not a single one) in my internal storage , is there any way to recover my photos from internal storage ?

I formatted internal storage before flashing the new rom
Steps to recover your deleted data from your rooted Android device-
1. Connect Your Android device.
2. Launch Android Data Recovery software on computer and choose 'Data Recovery'
3. Choose file types to Scan
4. Preview and restore lost data from Android phone.
Stop using your phone to prevent new files from overwriting lost data. Then try to use data recovery software to detect the photos from internal storage. If it can be detected, recovery is simple.

I tend to think it's a lost cause especially if the drive is zeroed out when you flashed.
Don't know but...
This wouldn't surprise me as it's a wise precaution to ensure a clean flash/load.
Even if not overwritten the file structure is lost as that was certainly overwritten when you flashed it. All you will find at best is completely random disjointed files.
The images will have no metadata ie time stamp etc. If you have hundreds, thousands of random images just forgetting about them becomes the less frustrating option many times. There's no way to index them except by memory, one at a time.
