Updated System Font App - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hi G2x owners,
Could somebody who has installed ClockworkMod Recovery (so you can back out if it does not work) please try this for me and confirm it works on the T-Mobile variant? I see no reason it should not.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=994544
Please post back, thanks.
Edit: Assuming you have the option under Settings | Display | Display font?

Flashed the .zip, I have no option to change font in the display settings. I looked elsewhere for it but couldn't find that option.

Okay... thanks for the feedback, perhaps it's only on the O2x build. It's difficult to know what is in and what is out of the G2x "stock" build.
On the O2x build this app exists to play around with system fonts easily... it just shipped with a whole lot of crap fonts, hence the mod.
So if it's of no use here I will let this thread slip into oblivion...

I think the G2x has a different partition structure.

You're correct but it also apparently just doesn't have this function either.

Files From an Actual Cricket Android Device

Hey all, New to this site as I am trying to learn how to get Androids from other companies working on cricket's network for my customers. (I work for a Cricket Premier dealer) Within a couple weeks cricket will be launching our first Android and I was wondering if any files etc.. from an actual Cricket Android device would be helpful to any of the developers here as I would be more then happy to post them if it would be helpful in getting full functionality out of flashed Androids.
Just let me know which files would be needed
how about the cricket apn from apn backup with of course username 0'[email protected] im using a touch pro with android but can not get wap/mms working.
does it have cricket clicks or whatever its called? (the app store i guess it is) post that. if it has it
yes...the whole rom in general would be great. but if not then cricket clicks, the APN, and the MMS.apk would be great.
Oh god, please don't let this be a troll!
Seconded on the ROM, APN and MMS.apk.
Also, any documentation would be helpful.
Post whatever you have and I'm sure someone will find it useful.
Thanks in advance (so long as you ain't trollin').

[MOD] Disable menu unlock for lockscreen.

This is a mod for the lockscreen so that the capacitive menu button is disabled for unlocking. This has been tested on Vanilla Lockscreens, but should work the same on HTC Lockscreens. This also has been tested on 3.29* based sense roms, unsure if it will work with other bases. If you have other fixes (i.e. reboot button change) you will overwrite that. Please post if you need me to upload a fixed version of that. Thanks goto ViRuS for the idea, and brut.all/jesus freke for apktool.
Instructions:
Download flashable zip.
NANDROID NANDROID NANDROID? did i miss something?
Reboot into recovery.
Flash zip and reboot.
That was easy wasn't it?
No more accidental unlockings!
Cookers/Developers: If this does not work for your rom, PM me and i can make individual flashable updates.
Rom users: reply to the thread with the base rom that it does not work on. I can find the base myself and make a list of updates.
Edit: It will take awhile to reboot, because i added a cache and dalvik-cache wipe to the update script.
Added mediafire mirror.

Just flashed on Fresh 3.3.0.1 and it took a while for the phone to reboot but it's working great. Thanks!
Sir, you are a gentleman and a scholar. This is very, very appreciated.
Would you be willing or be able to get to the bottom of the graphical glitches with the Vanilla lockscreen? I know it's plaguing more than one person, myself included.

Locate the 2.1 fix, and I'll see what i can do.
Here is the page that talks about the fix and has the files, and this is the file itself.
Thank you in advance.
Just found a bug (and a pretty major one). It worked perfectly fine disabling the menu button unlock; however, it also FC'ed the HTC dialer, vanilla clock, and HTC gallery every time I tried to open them. Nandroid was my friend today. Not sure if this will happen with anyone else.

Fresh 3.3.0.1
Everything was working fine until I flashed this zip. Maybe I'm just the only one with a stubborn Evo. lol
i have been looking for this for the past few days. a couple of questions before i flash. does it work on stock rooted deodexed with a removed HtcLockScreen.apk? also what .apk have you edited, i have mods made to my framework-res.apk, wondering if they will be touched. Thanks!
EDIT: After flashing on Rooted Doedexed stock rom, it foze on the 4G boot screen. i did a battery pull and tried again... IT WORKS! THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
so, i'm new to android. does anyone mind giving me step-by-step instructions on how to do this to my fascinate? thanks.
I'm experiencing graphical glitches too on Fresh 3.3.0.1, unless the colors are supposed to be different.

You won't be able to use this hack on the fascinate, you'd have to have one specifically made for your phone i think.

You are correct from what i have seen, also, there is an easier way to do this, also i didn't think the Menu button even did that, sure hasn't anytime i have tried it, or maybe it's because i'm using sense.
I tried to flash this and did not work for me im rooted on evo with no custom rom I just don't like the slider oh and i used unrevoked if that means anything. Im new to this also any suggestions or did I just miss something?
ATM I have two choices: Vanilla Lockscreen with this fix or Reboot Menu. Can you implement your fix with this reboot menu?

I decompiled and compared these two services.jars and could not find common differences to combine and recompile the fixes myself. I don't think you want to give up your secrets and I am not a programmer. Unless you have tips so I can accomplish this myself.

[Q] Edit Build Prop

There are many threads on editing the build prop after flashing but I want to know how to edit before I upload and flash.
I believe all I have to do is...
- Open the Zip with 7zip or Win zip ect.
- Open the build prop with word pad
- Change the items I wish to edit
- Save File
- Transfer rom to the SD and load with CR
Am I wrong here?
Should work. I used that method to edit my default.xml in CoreDroid to change my device name before flashing.
You can also do it straight from your device using the application from the android market; Absolute System

So you're saying you want to edit it in the ROM itself, first?
What would be the functional advantage of doing this? To have a personalized version of the ROM or something?
Unless I'm misunderstanding you, what happens when the ROM itself is updated by the dev? Any changes you made pre-flash to an obsolete ROM would be irrelevant if the updated ROM required a full wipe, or if you change roms, where a full wipe is recommended.
Just trying to determine your logic.
Essentially I want to name my device "Inspire 4G" not "Desire HD".
That has been driving me nuts ever sense I started changing roms on this phone
I also wanted to try changing the hsupa from 6 to 7 and the hsxpa 2 to 3 not sure if that will make a difference to my phone but was going to give it a whirl.
And as far as updates I always do full wipes /install saves the occasional head ache. so editing it before the install works for me

In that case, you have to edit the default.xml in /system/customize/CID, and it does have to be done before flashing. I have a screenshot of my about phone in CoreDroid 6.8 to prove that which I just said.

Editing build.prop on an installed ROM _WILL NOT_ change the device name on the 'about phone' screen, at least not on a Sense ROM. Guaranteed, but you can try if you want.

Minor aside since you brought up AOSP ROMs. Will that work 'on the fly' after the ROM is installed? I only ask because I've found that the default.xml changes have to be made in the zip before flashing, but I know that most of the other changes that I make to the build.prop file take effect after a reboot.

[Q][Request] Stock droid charge boot animation

Mind directing me to where you found the stock boot animation for the charge?
No way to edit .qmg files without qmage software...which is proprietary...which means it's expensive. Samsung mainly uses this devil-spawn file format in their Bada OS.
Edit:I spoke with a couple guys ok the Bada forums (rather I PMed them a few months back) who have edited these files and never received an answer from them. Perhaps you might have better luck...perhaps not.

I did get a reply linking me to a theme developing tool for bada, cant remember the name off hand...it does handle .qmg files however there is no direct front end to manage it and i am far to inept to try and break down and isolate the code needed for this...

I'm not sure if the custom ROMs will support the qmg boot anis. I haven't tried them.
The worst I can see happening is it won't work and you'll end up withe the plain android boot, or it will and it will be "watermarked" with the android. Somewhere in the past there was a post floating around on how to fix the "watermarked" boot but I can't remember where I saw it. Hope this is helpful

My only fear is that I noticed that if one is to revert to stock there are other files to be flashed. Being the language is in Vietnamese if a mistake is made, then hardbrick will ensue.

This rom is super cool. Im running a different one that's in the same section, it seems to have the UI more accurate like the V20. The devs there seem to be hella active. Ive seen updates every few days for both roms. Runs smooth and battery life is much better than stock in my opinion, cant tell if its a placebo though so Id recommend you test yourself.

I saw a post in the Dev section that stated both 20J & 20L are both set to Anti-Rollback version 2. As long as you stay within the same anti-rollback version then you should be able to move back and forth between 20J & 20L. I believe 20E is Anti-Rollback version 1.

Yeah, they are active but it is expected since they have a lot of sales in the Asian market. Can you please get me the link to the V20-like ROM?

Can someone say whether this ROM has init.d support? You can tell because there will be a folder called init.d at /system/etc/init.d. It may or may not be empty. If there is something in there then it's a pretty good indication. I usually drop a file in there that will run on boot and produce a log file in /data. If that log file doesn't appear, then no init.d support is present.

Can't find it using root browser, though it maybe me. Let's wait for another person to confirm.
I'll go ahead and assume the answer is no unless someone confirms otherwise. If I knew how to mod kernels, ramdisks, etc then I would add it myself. There is a universal init.d app that can add artificial support for this in the meantime, so not a huge deal. But kernel/ROM support for it is superior.

I've had it installed for about 2 hours now and all is well.

For Clean install, wipe Dalvik / System / Data / Cache then install

If you replace the build.prop in this rom with a stock one it will get stuck at LG and won't boot any further...at least in my experience. I'm sure it's something easy but who knows
