[Q] April 26 - US Release Date Announced $399 - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/21/asus-eee-pad-transformer-hits-us-on-april-26-for-399/
The 10.1-inch Transformer with its 1280 x 800 IPS panel and 16GB of storage will cost you $399, while the 32GB version will set you back $499. That docking station, which kinda sorta turns it into a laptop? That costs $150. Units are expected to hit retail on Tuesday, April 26th, meaning you have just five days to scrounge together four or five Benjamins -- plus tax, of course

Gtab price drop after 1st qtr 2011?

How low do you think the gtab's price will drop after all the tablets come out? $350 or lower, maybe? I've heard of the Asus Tegra 2 tablet which will have a price point starting at $399.
What do you think?
Who knows...
There are also a whole bunch of tablets in the $500+ range and many that are smaller that cost more then $399.
Netbooks are in the $200 - $300 range and have many more parts, so why are tablets more expensive then netbooks?

I keep wondering about that also.
Some things are a wash (screen, physical conns., etc.) but:
Netbook:
+ keyboard
+ Windows license cost ($35?)
+ Drive or SSD ($50?)
Tablet:
+ touchscreen
Seems like a tablet should cost less than a netbook?
Probably we're paying for lower volumes and covering their tooling costs...

ASUS transformer is scheduled to be released by April (tegra2 + 512M + min-hdmi + IPS screen with $399). To be honest, by that time, viewsonic may release Gtablet 2, Gtablet 1st generation may not be sold anymore, so there may not be a price drop.
Don't worry, the Gtablet is very good, and we just need to find a 10.1 inch IPS replacement screen (with a reasonable price ~$50), then, we are all set.
This is electronic equipment. You have to expect that whatever you pay for it now will not be the price 3 months from now.
We also get to use this for 3 months before everyone else starts pumping out new tablets, it's already better than the Ipad and $100 less than the Ipad.
You might see it disappear off the shelves before you see a major price drop - I would suspect the former. My guess is that it will disappear from the B&M stores in the next 4 to 6 months. I actually don't think it's going to drop under $350 again, it will probably just fade away.
It really depends on whether or not Viewsonic feels that the item is making money, and what its plans are for a GTab successor. I guess CES will tell the tale on the second part.
My guess is they will release JUST ENOUGH updates to get it half way working right and then drop it and announce the successor.
Hopefully our dev community will take us up to honeycomb before dropping it and moving on (would be good enough for me).
Price drop? Doubt it will go below $350 before successor hits.
Maybe something like that mystery 320 w/1GB and an IPS screen w/1280x resolution for the Gtab2??
That'd be cool!

I know my gtab is very good. I never thought the gtab was unfairly priced even at $399. When I saw the asus price this prompted me to think a price drop is looming for the gtab which would indicate that tablet prices would stablize after the 1st qtr. (Which would be great).
I honestly thought the gtab would eventually be the "bargain" tablet of 2011 compared to the newer tablets.
We're still a few months away for honeycomb to come out. I'm going to enjoy the most out of my gtab until then. I'm guessing honeycomb for the gtab will follow soon after... official or unofficial.

Prices around the world

Hopefully others can add to this;
I'm located in Ontario Canada
A 16GB TF101 with a dock costs $499+13% tax here = $564 CDN or $560 US
Tablet alone is $399
I noticed that in the UK, the same unit would be at least $720 US
OUCH
if you decide to add your own details please add taxes and as well maybe convert to US$ so that all of us around the Net can easily compare.
in the netherlands now on sale
i saw a tf101 16 gig without a keyboard here on sale for 513 usd incl sales tax .Normally it goes for 555 usd over the counter.
with keybord ad 97 usd .i bought my 32 gig without a keybord for 606 usd
Most shops in Italy from the beginning offered the TF101 16GB (no dock) at the suggested retail price of 399 euro (vat included); online shops offer(ed) with significant discount as low as 330 euro (vat included).
At the end of may I have bought my TF101 (no dock) for the price of 332.58 euro (20% tax included) which at the current exchange rate (24 Oct) is roughly equivalent to 462 USD.
edit: forgot to mention the storage size
I payed 4 380 SEk for mine with a Dock/keyboard. That comes to app. $665, of that 20% is sales tax, so without tax $535 which isn't all that much of from the US at $499 with Dock. The only way I would make money on it buying from the US is if customs would forget to charge me. That would only happen if the US retailer used a minor shipper (Not FedEx, UPS or similar, since they are diligent about paying customs).
I've bought mine in August (16 Gb + Dock) for 499€ and got a 100€ voucher back (23% tax).
Portugal.
I paid €500 ($692) for a 16GB Transformer (B50) and dock (B60).
Edit: And I'm in Ireland.
I am in South Africa and the price going at the moment is $445.22 excluding 14% tax.
Thanks for all the replies......What started this curiosity on my part was an Australian review on the TF. In that the writer noted a $20AUD price difference between the TF and IPad, which in my opinion is not significant. Here in Canada the Ipad starts at $519 plus 13%taxes, bringing the difference (to the base TF) to around $135 US.
Considering the versatility of the TF over the Ipad and that extra $100+ in your pocket I can see for sure why the TF has been a success, but if they (IPad vs TF) were priced almost identical that would be a tough choice. There's something to be said for the maturity of the Apple ecosystem, and frankly every time i load an app onto the TF from the Marketplace and it fails to preform as expected I scream.
I may not mind hacking, tweaking, testing etc on my device, but the masses out there simply want a device that works.
So would i spend the same money on a TF over an Ipad....yep
What would I suggest for the same money that my Grandmother buy...the Ipad
And the above partly explains why almost 3 out of 4 tablets sold worldwide is an Ipad

[Q] Anyone can buy a notebook in U.S. for me?

I'm interested in a HP ProBook 400 - currently only announced, but coming soon into the U.S. market.
The HP ProBook 400 series and HP 200 series laptops are expected to be available in the U.S. later this month. Pricing for the HP ProBook 400 series starts at $499. Pricing for the HP 200 starts at $249.
Any U.S. citizien willing to buy such a HP ProBook for me in the U.S. and then export it to Germany (my location)? Payment will be done via PayPal.
I ask this because of the U.S. price approximately is 25% less than it will be in Germany, AFAIK.

Price war on Nexus 7 starting

I did a quick search and didn't see a thread on this in this forum, if I'm wrong, or in the wrong place, close it or whatever suits the moderators
Prices are dropping daily on Nexus 7 2013. There is quite the price war going on right now. It started about Tuesday.
32 GB is 239 at BB, Walmart and Amazon. Amazon and Walmart dropped those prices in the past 24hour in response to BB's price
The 16 GB dropped today to $189 from $199 at Walmart. That's a nice price for a 2013 N7 especially with those new meenova devices being available now.
Again apologies if a pricing thread for 2013 has already been started.

Canada: Cash back on OP7 Pros purchased between 10AM ET, May 17  and 12PM ET, June 28

Edit: This may be a Canada only price reduction and cashback situation
SEE: OnePlus cuts cost of OnePlus 7 Pro by $100 in Canada, offers cashback to original purchases
I just received an email that due to a price adjustment OnePlus will be refunding the price difference on OnePlus 7 Pro units purchased between 10AM ET, May 17  and 12PM ET, June 28 is eligible for cashback that covers the price difference. The money is automatically deposited into the account you originally paid and not some write-in or web page, which I appreciate. It looks like all three hardware configurations of the OnePlus 7 Pro are covered.
I must say that that's a class move especially for a second time OnePlus customer like myself (previous OnePlus 5 owner).
Thanks OnePlus!
Hard to believe, is there a link to this announcement?

Wow, that's incredible. I've never seen a phone manufacturer backpedal like that on price. Good on them for admitting to the price markup compared to the US and acting on it.
That's sweet for you all! ?
This is true, I got an email from OnePlus letting me know I'll be getting some money back due to the price change. It's pretty awesome of OnePlus to do this for original purchases!
yay!
I got mine a few hours ago. Guess we will find out if they keep their word. The email does not say how much we will get back though.
I'm in Canada and can confirm that I got an email about the $100 cashback.

All of the 7 Pro models dropped by $100 so you should be getting back that much. The email says cashback for the price difference.
I have now received my refund ($115). I am so impressed by this. They did not have to do anything as, as an early adopter, I always expect to pay a premium. Even some sort of credit towards a future purchase would have been nice, but actual cash back is beyond any expectations.
It certainly has made me more likely to keep supporting OnePlus in the future.
I'm still waiting good to know at least 1 person got something.
Got a refund.
This type of thing helps me to decide to be a loyal customer.
Paid about $1000, the price went down $100 and they gave me a refund did not need to ask it just happened.
Got a refund as well !
Received mine ($124 Nebula Blue) on Jul 15th into my credit card account via PayPal like a few others.
I'll likely recycle the money on a Whitestone Dome tgsp screen protector, DBrand skin and an aluminum bumper protector. Sadly my $20 ebay Front&Back tempered glass protector isn't up to snuff but I suspected that going in, when there wasn't a wide selection of cases.
Got mine today too! $115.50. I may put it into another dash charger for upstairs.
Hey 3DSammy
I want help on MHL hdmi resolution for OP7T which is still on OOS 10.3.6 rooted.
I have a 4k display which limits my HDMI output to 4k 30FPS. I want to make it 2560X1440 which OP7T supports on 60FPS. If any link for this requirement please share with me. I want to forcefully send 2K resolution to my external Disply without having an edid emulator.
