What I was looking for in a FAQ/Wiki sections for the Android Platform was more on the lines of the following
Breaking down the structure for a 'build' as in the different components :-
kernels
ROMs
Boot.imgs
etc etc
A brief explanations as to the parts and any interaction/dependencies so that you know you can use x with Y but not Z
I am not bothered about bragging rights that clockdriod is better than magentamod, all I was after was a description so that I could make an educated stab at getting a quality working platform without bricking my device.
As of now I used used visionary to root my machine, then installed clockworkmod, and finished off with LeeDROID 1.2, but for the life of me I do not know if I need to have a different kernel, boot.img secure or unsecure or whatever.
THAT is the kind of info I am trying to put together in my own mind, and at each step understanding the outcome so that I am able to offer solid qualified support for any other newcomer to this fast evolving party, I have been using/involved in the WM platform from V5 onwards, cooking my own ROMS and offering support and assistance to fellow, so I am not a noob (as such) but have been VERY wary of applying settings as 'some' people around here dole out help/support/guidance without considering the ramifications to the poor sucker who does not fully understand what some of the changes actually do.
Please note this is not a gripe, more an observation, and I am working on my own glossary and will upload/add when I am confident the steps are safe (!)

Can any kind soul explain what can be done ONLY with S-OFF? e.g. if i want to apply themes that need to replace framework-res.apk, must i have S-OFF (or this can already be achieved by mounting /system as read-writable)?

Its about Date of ROM update,
and this thread is related to development, so every body will be find custom roms with in, also know that when they update or release their rom,

If you are going to make this thread make it, putting links to the roms, if you finish it, I may even sticky it, but for now it is being moved to general. Thanks

IMO this thread should be in general section. not here.

It is nice to see a thread dedicated to development updates. Androsomace, you must update this thread regularly for this to work and be really helpful, you may want to check the links you posted for images and include them, but you must edit(scale) them first to fit your post.
You can also change the title to "[INDEX] GALAXY Y DEVELOPMENT UPDATES" and please include WIP projects.

there are also dualboot kernel and modified kernel created by irfanbagus.

@kurutsugi : BTW just one request can you give me the list of legitimate ROMS? not the ROMS of wannabee devs, their ROMs are incomplete and undeveloped, its a shame to add them in index since they are not complete and stable..and they are not developing the ROMS, just porting with no fixing

Root didnt work?
Hello,
I attempted to root My European Xoom which is on JB 4.1.2 Folowed the instruction from FAQ How do I root my device.
I followed all the instructions from Manual Root Way, by XxLordxX and everything went fine. Did exactly as said so when I finally reached the point where you download "Root Checker Basic" and it says Sorry! This device does not have proper root access. But there is a superuser app but it doesnt do much. So whats gone wrong guys?
Plus once this problem is fixed do I need to do Step 5: Backup Image to SD card and Step 6: Restoring Image from SD card?
To load a custom rom.

Hi,
Thanks for following my guide! I will try helping you as much as possible! Please, try opening Superuser app and checking if it has the su binary (SU app usually does it automatically). And for step 5 and 6 are not necessary to load a custom ROM .

Thanks Lord, sorry for the late reply Ive been having laptop problems.
Ive opened the superuser app It has 3 tabs on the top Apps, Log, Settings. I go into settings and at the bottom in Superuser information heading, it has Su Binary v3.0.3.1 tap to check for updates. When i click on that it checks for updates and then says checking available version failed.

How to report bugs/Issue?
To report issue, you needs to provide following informations, else it will be ignored. Also if your query is already mentioned on OP/ChangeLogg post, it will be ignored.
1.ROM build number.
2.Dirty/Clean Install. - If you have dirty installed, Then first clean install and report if issue persists.
3.Bug/Issue appears right after installing or later?
4.How to reproduce error.
5.Is there any same reports there on thread on your searching?
6.Is there any mention about same bug on OP or changeLog post?
7.Logs - Attach logs here/Upload to other places where it can be downloaded without registration and doesn't have ad (we recommend dropbox/Gdrive) and post link.

Also I didn't understand what you said about the whole BL files and all that. I already have TWRP, so I can just copy it to the phone and flash right away right?

You are on which base?
If you already on N975FXXU1ASH5 then no need to flash Bootloader and Modem. In that case simply copy file and Flash (recommend clean install, no format data but factory reset option)

Actually its twrp issue and not rom, according twrp developer, it's not possible, may be on Q it may back.

Doc, is this rom compatible with sm-976B variants?
