[Q] Need advice on battery usage application development - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys,
I am a starter with android development. I need to develop a simple battery usage monitor for my ongoing research. (similar to android watchdog, Current Widget, Power tutor, Spare Parts, etc). I also want to add sensor toggler in the program itself. Is there any tutorial that you suggest I can start looking for this..a book or video tutorials that get me going? Is this gonna be hard work?
Thanks,,

[Q] Difficulty level of this Android Program, launched in Galaxy Tab

Hi everyone,
This is my first post in this forum.
I am an ASP.NET developer, normally using Visual Studio and C# for development.
I am trying to develop an Android program, for the first time and spending time for researching from scratch.
I know that the developing language is JAVA, and Eclipse is the tool to develop.
What I am trying to develop is an Android program, used in Galaxy Tab.
The program should open a camera, and the user could take a picture and store it on the harddrive. Also this program should have some buttons, and when clicked the user could see different videos stored in the disk. Opening the camera, clicking the buttons should be touch screen.
Does this program seems to be hard to develop? Any advice is welcome
Thanks in advance!
I suggest starting here http://hackaday.com/2010/07/12/android-development-101-–-a-tutorial-series/ They cover basic concepts as well as some more advanced ones. It'll give you a good way to ease into JAVA and since you already do programming you'll probably be able to skip some of the more obvious steps. As for your specific app it shouldn't be that difficult to develop, I personally only did very little JAVA programming but there are code sources all over and if you need something specific to a device just ask in the appropriate forum.

[Q] Help developing an Android application: strings between activities and widgets

Hey guys.
Hope this is the place to be asking this. Couldn't ask in the Android area.
Any way, basically I'm creating a post it note widget application for my uni project. It's due Thursday and I have just hit a brick wall.
All was going well until I realised I couldn't get the value of a "textView" on my widget to equal the "edtitText" in my main class / activity.
Is there a way to reference between classes especially with a widget?
Please help me, I think I'm about to fail

I was wondering if there is any program that can create and view the mobile augmented reality.
The objective is to do a tattoo with the image of a symbol that would reproduce with the help of an application on my phone, a 3D animated image.
But I do not know how to program in mobile platforms, need some help to create a method that can easy change my animation tattoo..
Maybe later if work, we make one aplication to put in the market and create a new style of tattoo
Can anyone help with this?

Do you have enough money to invest to this project? (you may count the good freelance dev rate is about $60/h, rough estimate is about 3 month = 60*40*4*3)
P.S. Leme answer on my question: of course, you don't. Just like a naive (and stupid) posts on craigslist: "Write a iPhone killer app for me for free, and I'll share my profit with you - up to %40!")
i know that, that´s why i was asking if there is anyone who already trie to do something like this.
I already use this tools, but for a website not for a mobile phone.
we already have this website, telling how to do augmented reality, but not for phone..

You may try ScanSearch http://www.scansearch.com/wp7/ (lookup xda for "lg applications" ). As for me, it's not much useful (truly - completely useless ;-) ). Tried a couple of times in real world situation - for example, I was looking for public restroom in the Boston downtown area - no results at all. I thought, the whole concept of "augmented reality" except very specialized apps such as museum guide etc. is a BS.

[Completed] [Q] Help with Xiaomi Mi Band, bluetooth low energy device

Hello guys,
I have been searching, studying and asking people already about this, but couldn't find help.
I recently bought a Xiaomi Mi Band, for those that does not knows about this great device I will say It's features, It is a wrist band that uses bluetooth LE (Bluetooth Low Energy):
- 3 multicolor LEDs
- Vibration, pedometer and other sensors
- 30 days battery
- IP67 cert
And all this with an official price of $13.
Sadly, this device got a very poor official application for now. It just acts as a pedometer and leaving It full potential away.
I have thought on making an application that makes the wristband to vibrate/turn on leds when a notification comes out for the phone. I have more ideas but this would be already awesome. Unluckily the official app does not offer any kind of SDK or API so I find myself in a dead end.
I have a lot of experience in Java but not in Android's app, my idea is to sniff the packet sent by the official app to make the band vibrate and replicate it in every notification the phone receives, then implement a white/black list so you can choose which ones are allowed to do so or not. Just this would give an amazing life for such a cheap, beautiful and useful-probably device.
Thank you in advance
