Problem=HTC Legend rooted+Medscape - General Questions and Answers

Just bought a used HTC Legend with Android 2.2 but recently noticed that the phone appears to have been rooted by the previous owner.
I found this while installing the Medscape app: the app doesn't download the clinical reference giving an error that I've come to discover is related with the fact that the app doesn't work in rooted phones or with adblock programs.
At the same time I found out that I had this "SuperUser Permission" app installed on my HTC that I can't seem to uninstall.
Given the fact that I'm a medical student, Medscape is really really important to me so I would please ask you to help me solve this problem. I'm not familiar with the procedures to "unroot" the phone so the best option would be to solve the problem using the quickest and most simple method...if it's necessary to unroot I will need your help!
Thanks in advance

Bump.............

Just un-install adfree, and you should be alright. Don't worry about the "root" or "unroot" - it's not necessary for Medscape to work - adfree is the culprit here.
Have fun with your your new phone.

optimus t android questions

I just signed up with tmobile and got a Optimus t for free. My last phone was a blackjack 2 so this is a big upgrade for me. I've been reading all the android hacking threads. There was a couple things I couldn't quite figure out.
1. I'll install z4root and root the device. Do I need any other software to remove the pre installed junk from t mobile?
2. I may want to add some roms or change the kernel. What program do I use for backing up my device?
Thanks
new 2 android
welcome to android you will notice a big difference in software and customizability. but i digress . to awnser your question once rootrd you can remove all those pesky junk apps as i think of them such as kindle and blockbuster my solution was root uninstaller but first you will need superuser permissions one suggestion is to get rom mannager from the market and once installed in the rom manager app run whats called fix permissions should just be just a click away the phone will run script for about five minutes while it frees up the permissions by granting all apps super user permissions then once that has happined you can go into the root uninstaller aplication and get rid of that stock junk (note this is without running custom rom seeing as i encountered the same problem due to i recently got the cliq2 and so far cannot run custom rom as of yet to my knowllege)

Am I root?? And much much more.

So long story short I've noticed a lot of weird things on my phone here lately. Please keep in mind I found a hidden launch app on my phone that mimicked my current launcher. I removed this and just took it as my girlfriend wanted to spy on me. I factory reset and went on my way. Well now it's..... Crazy. I know I'm infected with stage fright. I can't root but some apps tell me I'm rooted. I am trying to flash a kernel but I have exhausted myself trying to gain root to do so. So what is going on here? How do I did myself of this? I am linking a bunch of screens I took. Any and all help is appreciated.
I can't post links since I'm under ten posts. I will pm whoever replies with the link to my shared drive folder containing the screens.
Additionally.
I have recently found that when I check busy box and root status through the busy box installer by jrummy it says I am rooted with busy box installed. I have done neither since I have done a system restore on my phone. Super user access is denied and I have only been able to gain root through king root and then it goes away in 5 minutes or so. What's crazy is that it doesn't show the super user icon when it is rooted. The phone is rooted for a second but all apps still say not rooted. I know a stock kernal with a fresh android installation would fix this but I'm making no progress.

[Completed] How to block apps which install themselves over and over again ?

Hi,
Phone : ZOPO ZP999 - rooted
The latest month there is something weird going on : 2 'apps' are reinstalling themselves over and over again.
I deinstalled them, blocked them. Even when i block them they disappear and reappear again.
These apps use icons like twitter and facebook.
This is the data :
1. com.roma.boostcleanpro.apk
it refers to this links on GooglePlay : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.roma.boostcleanpro
uses Facebook icon
2. com.sp.cp.apk
nothing to find on Googleplay
uses twitter icon
Does anybody knows the reason ?
Is there another installed app which is responsible for this ?
ps : in "security" , unknown sources is not enabled and verify apps which can cause damage is enabled
Thanks for the help
Hello,
You've picked up some malware, you have to remove the malware to keep those apps from coming back. I'm willing to wager that you rooted your device with Kingroot because it deceptively installs apps when you use it. If you used Kingroot then you'll need to find the method of converting to SuperSU on your device and remove Kingroot, then you won't get those apps installing themselves.
To find the malware you can use Malwarebytes Ant-malware app from the Playstore.
For further help ask your question in the forum linked below.

Hi - thanks for the reply !
This phone - my ZOPO zp999 - is rooted with SuperSU. I made the root-thread my self here on XDA So the rooting is OK.
The phone has been working fine all the time so there must be an app which caused the reinstalling of some bad apps.
Therefore I run Malwarebytes and had about 8 issues - see screenshot - removed them and since yesterday the problem was gone...
hope it stays that way

Some other app that you've installed is doing it.
Have you rooted your device?
What method did you use to root it?
Did you use Kingroot or KingoRoot?
I DO NOT PROVIDE HELP IN PM, KEEP IT IN THE THREADS WHERE EVERYONE CAN SHARE

It absolutely has to to be something you installed.
You didn't answer me question, by the way.
Did you root your device with Kingroot or KingoRoot? If so, that is what is doing it.

Go to “developerettingUncheckInstall apps from external sources”(or something like that).
If the app is installing from play store delete the last install app. It maybe any thing like anti virus, phone booster, battery booster, twrp, recovery etc.
If the app is not installing from play store but downloading from internet then Go to settings> enable developer options> uncheck the box which says “Install apps from un trusted sources (or something like that). Then uninstall the last installed app or the app which u think is causing this issue. Same as above list.
Try closing all tabs in ur browser also.
Then install C cleaner app. Run it. Delete the files which u don't know. Then back to normal

Magisk for root

Please help me
so I have already rooted with Magisk 5 times as possible, and have problems with gmail, mobile banking, etc.
actually it doesn't matter if I don't delete the default system applications that are not used with applications like link2sd etc, that request root access. but what is the root for me if it doesn't delete (sorry) the garbage application.
to deal with that problem I only got the trick by reinstalling the stock rom using odin. and not root
and are there other tricks to deal with this problem?
I really need help from you guys.
thank you
