Hello XDA community.
I would like to show you my new project Storage Analyser and maintain here a feedback and support channel for the XDA community.
Storage Analyser can:
Analyses Sdcard, external Sdcards, USB storage devices, system partitions (disabled by default)...
Order the content by size, the amount of files, the date or just the name
See the space used by applications using App2SD (.android_secure folder).
Include or exclude folder from the mediascan of the Android Gallery.
Filter out the content you are aware of to make the rest more pregnant.
Delete no longer necessary data directly from the app. No need for external file managers.
Real tablet support.
Allows several columns depending on the screen size.
Shows which already removed application left over some data in /sdcard/Android/data/ and /data/data
It supports all Android 2.1 devices and above.
I have a lot of ideas to extend and improve this app in the future but if you have an improvement suggestion, please don’t hesitate to give me your ideas.
Here is the direct link to the app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.levelokment.storageanalyser
I plan to use this thread here to provide beta versions to the community before I will integrate them to the Market.
If you like you can follow me on Google+
I will drop private Betas for special G+ circles in the future for people that or interested to help to test versions with bigger/major changes.

ChangeLog:
Version 0.9.8:
● Fix the missing additional row content (size, item count, percentage etc.) on Jelly Bean devices (Android 4.1).
● Added the external sdcard mointpoint of the Samsung Galaxy S3 (/mnt/extSdCard) to the known partition list.
● Clicking on an item image (file or folder) will now select the item the same way as the checkboxes.
Version 0.9.7:
● Fix for the Galaxy Nexus using the leaked Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) Rom to show the sdcard without the need to enable the "Show system partitions" option.
Version 0.9.6:
● Better detection for additional external sdcards on some devices.
If your still have partitions which are just visible with the "Show system partitions" option but should be handled as a basic partition from your point of view, please contact me.● A lot of smaller corrections and enhancements.
Version 0.9.5:
● Copy and Move function are available now! (On all non system partitions).
● Emmc partitions (like present Cyanogen Rom's) are correctly handled as SdCard's now.
● Fixed another bug that could prevent the context menu to open on some devices. If you still have problems to open the context menu (via a long click) please help by providing log files! (Just contact me for details)
● Several minor bug fixes.
Version 0.9.4:
● Fixed a bug that was preventing the context menu to open on some devices.
● Delete function is now working properly on emmc partitions (like Cyanogen Rom's).
● Fixed the detection of the .android_secure folder on some devices.
● Preferences do use fragments on devices with Android 3.x and higher.

Bump!

Thanks for that HereAsWell.

Hi.
I just uploaded version 0.2.1 with two bug fixes.

Is there a plan to visualize data consumption in the internal memory, i.e., /system/ and /data/ partitions?
The reason I ask is because most of my apps are on internal memory and one day my "available space" decreased from 70 MB to 20 MB and I didn't know why

Hi c00ller.
Thanks for you reply.
Yes. This will come as well.
The plan is to keep app simple to understand, so I will have to see what is the best way to integrate it without confuse "normal" people.
Bye
Lars

Hi everyone (even if I right now feel like talking to my self )
One of the things I have in mind for one of the next updates is an preferences dialog that allows some customisations. (Some kind of expert settings)
What I have in mind are options for:
Deactivation of the acknowledgement message when deleting files / or folders.
Choose the font size of the list entries.
Override the amount of lists shown side by side in portrait mode.
Override the amount of lists shown side by side in landscape mode.
Any suggestions?
Bye
Lars

love the idea, but it's VERY slow and unresponsive on my captivate.

Thanks for the response ippon.
Can you please give me some more details, the app is lightning fast on my Nexus One and even on the an old HTC Magic that I use for additional tests it runs acceptable?
In Germany the device you have mentioned is not available, what kind of device is this (Android version, cpu speed, internal sd card or just an external etc)?
Do you use an external Sd card and if yes which speed class did it have?
Is the app unresponsive all the time? Or just during the collection of data? (you can see this by watching the progress indicator at the button right (status bar).
How many files and capacity do you have on your external storage? (values in the status bar after the data collection as been finished)
Thanks again and sorry for all the questions .
Lars

this is a good idea, from the PC my favorite program to do this was sequoia viewer, any chance you can make it look like that (as an option maybe?)

Hi slapshot136.
I guess I have to play with this tool to understand the idea completely.
The screenshot itself looks kind of weird
I guess it is a graphical view of the folder sizes... I like the idea... I will put it on my list, but for later.
Thanks for the suggestion.

this is the captivate. it is one of the galaxy s variants.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S/SGH-I897
i am using a class 4 8gb micro sd card and the phone has 16gb of storage built in.
the app has been very unresponsive for me at all time, and not just during the collection of data and i frequently get the 'sorry! activity storage analyser (in process storage analyser) is not responding. force close or wait.'
i currently has 10.1 GB in 13,159 files.
i hope this helps a bit.

Thanks for your feedback ippon.
I'll see what I can do
That the app is unresponsive even if the data collection is finished is kind of strange though...
I have tested the app on the European version of the Galaxy S (currently on Android 2.2) and it was working well.
Thanks again.

New Update available...
Please check the first post of this thread to see the changeLog. (no improvment for your problem Ippon ... at least not now ...)

Hi.
Small bug fix release.
Please find the version history in the first post of this thread.

this is great, very helpful, clean interface, and most importantly, well-integrated into the OS (clicking on an apk offers to install it, clicking on an app-on-sd brings up application info, etc).
The only thing i'd like is multi-select and select-all. It'd be nice to be able to delete all files in a folder, without deleting the folder itself.

Great app!!!
It's ok in X10 Mini Pro with 8gb sd card
Very good!!!
Thanks!

[APP] Clipboard + Notes 6.1.3 [08/12/15]

[APP] Clipboard + Notes 6.3.1 [04/05/2016]
Clipboard + Notes is a simple clipboard manager which watches your clipboard for any changes and saves its contents for later use. Contents can be starred and labelled, as well as added manually, which makes the app a handy tool for note taking.
The contents from the clipboard history can be copied into the clipboard again, they can be edited, deleted, searched, and shared too. When sharing links they can be optionally shortened if URLy is installed. Any links in the contents will be quickly picked up and extra options will be available to open or share them directly from the device. HTTP and Market links are amongst the supported types.
Clipboard + Notes can be easily turned off from the settings if it is no longer needed, and its operation can be customised to match the user's needs. The clipboard collection is intelligently stopped when the device isn't being used any more, which makes it very battery-friendly.
In addition it integrates with the Android Quick Search Bar so you can directly search your clipboard history. It further integrates with Google's cloud backup and restore, so any time you wipe your device your contents and settings will be restored the next time you install the application (only works on Android 2.3+ and backup/restore must be enabled in the 'Privacy' settings for your device).
A little extra hand is at help too in case you would like to share to clipboard. The app supports this functionality as well, so just pick something to share, and select Clipboard + Notes from the window. The item you just shard will now have been copied into the clipboard.

OK, will do it sometime during the week. I already have the two other features done, just testing them on my own device.
Thanks for the support
Version 1.2 is out, changes include:
Clipboard history will be saved across reboots and service shutdowns
Edit clipboard contents
Added date to older contents
Added fallback click option
Numerous bug fixes
Enjoy
P.S. Would it be helpful if the text which is currently in the clipboard was highlighted, for example the font was bold or text bigger? It is always at the top in the list, but not sure if that makes sense/occurs to everyone.
Hy I like your Tool. I look long time ago to find something like this.
There is one problem I recognized, sometimes when I press Copy Link it happen nothing in Clipboard Contents. Then I switch off & on the service and my Link is displaying in the History !

Hi, glad you like it
So let me understand this correctly. You have some items in the list, you long-click on one of them (not the top one), click copy to clipboard and nothing happens in the list? What should happen is that the one you copied should be moved to the top of the list. What happens when you click on 'Refresh'? Same thing as when you turn the service off and on, or is it different?
I've never had this issue happen to me so I'm just trying to understand whether there are some particular steps which make it happen. Anyway, I'll take a look at the code, but any extra information would be helpful. Thanks.
No, not like this. I want to copy an item to the List and nothing happens. Then I switch off and on the service ones a time then the copy works !!!

OK, I understand now... I think
The problem is that the service refreshes every X seconds, depending on how you have it set in the settings. If you copy something and open the list, the service might not have refreshed yet and therefore the item won't appear in the list. If you know you copied something and it's not there you should just hit the 'Refresh' button and it should appear, that's the reason why I put it there.
OK Thanks,
Version 1.3 is out with the following changes:
Links without 'http://' will be now detected
Added confirmation upon content deletion
Current clipboard content gets highlighted in bold
Text size for the list can be changed (see the settings)
Older items will be automatically removed (see the settings)
Many other fixes
Up on the Market and in the first post.
Why does a Clipboard app need "Full Internet access"?
The installer mentions the latest version requires network access.

OK. I think it is somewhat annoying that there isn't a separate permission for ad-only internet access, as that would probably make users more trustful of applications which request permissions that may have nothing to do with the app's functionality (such as this one).

I was thinking exactly the same thing.
Some people may think that this is a dead application, but nope. I still have plans for it, but not enough time at the moment Anyway, here is the version 1.4 update:
Added support for shortening links using URLy when sharing them (only if URLy is installed)
Fixed a couple of small bugs
Tiny tweaks to the user interface
Simplified English localisation
New APK is in the OP and also on the Market. Enjoy.
Version 2.0 is out, with the following changes (many of which have been promised for a longer time):
New user interface
Restore clipboard at boot
Improved communication with the service
Persistent storage improved
Contents can be manipulated when the service is disabled
Integrated with Android's Quick Search Bar
Get it on the Market or in the OP (still free with ads)
Version 2.1.0 is out, in the usual places. Here are the changes;
Fixed list items too small
Fixed double notifications
Fixed clipboard erasure detection
Fixed status bar icon to match UI guidelines
Added cloud backup/restore for Android 2.2 and newer (must be enabled in device Settings -> Privacy)
On a side note, the cloud backup/restore service which Google provides for Android applications is rather cool. It's really simple to implement and use, so here's to hoping that more developers will include this feature in their applications

[APP] Grid Size file manager

This is my first android application. I was using an application for windows to view what was eating up my ssd and thought it would be nice to have something on android that could do that.
I also implemented file manager controls (copy, cut, paste, delete, rename, new folder).
As I said I'd really like some feedback, being my first app and all.
Free(ads): Grid Size File Manager Free
Demo(noads): **Unpublished** not needed with free version.
Paid(noads): Grid Size File Manager
(links in next post, thanks willverduzco)
From the app description (What it does!):
Grid Size file manager has all the functionality you expect from a file manager with a useful visual feature. The grid view graphically displays the contents of your storage drive proportional to the size of each folder and file. The grid view also supports image controls so that you can zoom and pan to view folders.
Standard list view is also available for the folder tree, useful for typical file manager functionality and for interacting with files and folders that are empty and thus not displayed in the grid view.
To begin, tap the "scan storage" button. After scan is complete, you are shown your folders via GridView. See below to access ListView. Tap on a colored box to open a folder, labeled via the lighter colored band at the top of each box. To open a file within a folder, simply tap that box and select "ok" when prompted to open that file.
You can zoom in at any time with a standard pinch zoom. You can also pan around by holding your finger down and dragging across the screen. Press and hold on a folder or file to interact with it. Available commands include: open, copy, cut, paste, rename, delete and new folder. Tap the back button on your phone to go back to the previous level of folders.

Add % in Grid mode
This app is petty kick ass. I've always wondered where the heck all my free space went
This saves me from mounting my phone and doing the same process with a desktop app. A+ application! Thanks a ton!
Great app, could do with smooth animations and zooming like DiskUsage, otherwise I think I prefer your app. Loads much faster than DiskUsage does! Will come in handy when frantically trying to free up some space to copy something to the SD card.
HTC Desire Leedroid 2.3d Froyo
psycho_maniac, thanks for the suggestions!
Those would be pretty easy to implement. When you say open folder location you mean like you can type in a location and it will open it?
Or maybe even have some sort of search functionality would be pretty useful.
kdb, antcodd, thank you!
Love this app. Smooth and perfect. Thank
Does full version has KB/MB/GB indication ?
ukanth, it has the kb indication on the grid folders and files. I does not have it in the list view. I could put the kb in the current folder status bar at the bottom but currently I only have the percentage of storage and folder name.
These are great suggestions! Keep them coming!

No I mean like long press on a location, lets say i see the "media" folder in /sdcard/media" using 50% long pess on that grid and select "open folder location" and it opens "/sdcard/media" with your default file explorer and you can delete stuff.
psycho_maniac, I'm not sure I see the usefulness. My app allows you to delete along with cut, copy, paste, rename and create new folder. Why would you need to open another app to do that?
What are people's thoughts on the price point for the paid version?

Couple of suggestions:
* Include to set option to show size in MB/GB in grid and list view
* I think it would be clear if lines are not there in list view (my personal opinion)
* Add folder properties option in menu
I'll be happy if its less than a dollar ($0.99)
If not also I'll buy
I like the idea for the mb/gb size option. And I really really like the idea for the the show properties!!
And thanks for the suggestion on price! Maybe I shot too high for my first app
It is now 0.99!!

Exactly what I'm missing! Size in bottom bar an list view (maybe at end and not right after %)
and an Option to change from KB to MB and GB.
Absolutely overkill would be that if its over 2048 kbyte its displayed in MB. And if its over 2048mb its gonna be displayed as GB. Maybe with one chifre after coma. Cuz i don't really care if i have 22189mb or 22190mb used in that folder. 22.2gb would suite better.
Also nice gimmick would be the amount of files in that folder ( list view )
Btw took 2-3 minutes to scan my 30gb! Not bad.
P.s. found a bug! (See picture) music folder is 21.6gb !
Link to the Picture
Good point on the size thing, and it would be really easy to implement. Like you said just an if statement.
And I can add it to the current directory too.
I don't see any pictures.
What are the thoughts on restricting the functionality of the free version. Now that the price barrier is lower I think it may be fair. Maybe limit the users to one file operation per day. Like one delete, rename, newfolder, paste a day with the free one.
What are your thoughts, I'm new to all this...
I'm Free user.... means i dont have a credit card, so i never ever think about buying apps ^^ so price doesn't matter to me.
Limiting to Operations per Day would only make customers (if you call them so ^^) angry. Cuz most time you don't use this tool for 3 Weeks, and then again in one day you would like to sort your SD card and want to delet 5 folders!
If you want to bring customers to buy your app, make the "Delet" option only for Paid app Cuz its nice to move folders... but most people want to delet them (i think so)
Another idea: List view is sorted by Size? cant change do Alphabetical by pressing a button / settings ?
P.s Fixed image in other post ^^
No, you're right. I shouldn't make my customers angry.
And I can add sorting to the list of updates!
Sugestion: After entering a file or deleting a file and returning to the main screen have it stay zoomed in to the point you were at prior to entering or deleting a file. Right now if I go into something to delete an interior folder when I go back to the main screen I'm zoomed out to the max again where before entering the folder I may have been zoomed in 3/4X the orginal size.
Well the problem with that is if you are deleting something in the sub folder when you return to the previous folder it will change size, and the whole grid may look a lot different. So I keep it zoomed out so you can see that difference.
OK SO List of updates I plan on working on in the following week:
Support for multiple sd cards (full)
Root folder (at least the ability to look at it for unrooted folks)(full)
Properties of folders/files (full)
Changing the size from KB to MB if larger than 1MB and from MB to GB if larger than 1GB (fixing the one size but with the huge folders displaying at like 2.2 KB instead of GB) (free&full)
Listing size of current dir in the grid (free&full)
Listing size in list view (free&full)
Ability to sort in list view by name (full)
Keep them coming!!

App worked great the first time installed it. The System Scan was excellent, but it has stopped working and using the System Scan causes Force Close. All the other tools are great, but this especially useful tool is causing FCs no matter what I try. Any advice on getting it working?
I'm on Nexus S stock 2.3.3 (Rogers).

Yay Xavier!! :good: :good:
How about this, some apps require their files/content to be in specific folders for e.g whatsapp. If the media in not found at that locations it asks to re download that content.
Is their some special handling for such apps??

You can create and edit custom redirects, so you could blacklist the folders you don't want scanned (The Whatsapp folder) and whitelist the ones that you only want scanned - it is completely customizable!
Also, on a side note - the app does not go near the /Android directory unless it is explicitly whitelisted, so 95% of important app data isn't touched!
Brilliant.
Redirect File Organizer - An automatic file organizer
Looks pretty good. I will give it a try. Thanks
Very cool since yesterday I hit 95% memory full and need to move things to storage card. Running my S4 stock until I determine which rom to use and most everything else I've used in past required root. I'll report back after running a few redirects.
Looks nice, is the apk attached the paid version or the free?
Hi guys. I made a guide on an awesome use case for this app. It shows you how to sync all the music on your phone to Google Play Music. If you want to check it out, I made a thread here.
Gonna try this app while my phone is back from repair!
I badly need this app. Got 64gb cluttered files here

Redirect File Organizer
Released on the 3rd of December 2013, Redirect File Organizer is the first app that organises your storage space for you - the concept at a basic level is simple - you tell my app where you want files to go, and they will go there

If your using apps from xda then you should know that you always backup before trying something new, especially something which can move/delete or perform other file operations.

Sure, I just sent you the answer in a PM. Thank you for your interest in my App
Cool app so far, but how do you access the menu to delete and open files? Since the app doesn't have an overflow menu, I'm thinking it requires a device with a dedicated menu button. If that's the case, you should be aware that almost all devices made in the past 2 years do not have dedicated menu buttons, so the majority of users cannot access all of the features of your app.
Nice
Nice app! I like how it builds the blocks as it scans.

Lollipop adds a dynamic menu button if it detects the app has one (see attachment). Alternatively, if you're on Jelly Bean or Kit Kat & have a compatible device / ROM, GravityBox has the option to add a menu button to the nav bar. @NexradSoftware: I suggest changing the long press option to activate the context menu.
Nice! But if you ask me the borders from folder with other apps included in subfolders are not visible enough.
the .thumbnails folder here totally includes Xperia and 100Andro, doesn't it ?
Enable download in play store for Italy.
Thanks

So far on all the tests I did on different Android devices (and emulator tests) there were always a way to access the menu button even if it is as you mentioned not present by default on recent devices. However maybe it's good idea to add another way to access it just in case (a button in the top bar or through a long press as yochananmarqos proposed in a later post).
Thank you for raising this point

It looks like a quite annoying bug I never had/catched in my tests... I will try to test it again on your device model (Samsung Galaxy S3 right?). Is it happening each time you run it (100%) ?
