Huawei U8300 kernel source code released! - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Well, if someone is interested in porting froyo/gingerbread to this phone it may just have been made easier. I wrote an email to huawei and requested the source code for the kernel of the U8300. Their reply was:
HI£¬Peter

Motorola is 'preparing' it but if it's hauwei or whatever then that would explain a delay, i love it when companies 'work together'
nonetheless, this thread may be relevant to follow. It is on the motodev blog regarding release of the open source kernel etc for this device...

[SEE-THIS]-[PETITION]-Micromax to release kernel source and other drivers !

~MODS PLEASE DON'T DELETE THIS THREAD~
Micromax is the largest growing Indian brand and are making android phones without releasing kernel sources for their products which are running Google's open source OS .
It is important as when developers will get their hands on to the Kernel source and other drivers they will be able to give the users a different performance with custom ROM's and other tools.
They are not releasing the kernel sources for their android phones which is making difficult to developers for making much more advanced ROM's like cyanogen etc .......In this way they are violating gpl licenses
Please help us by signing this petition and forcing them to release the kernel sources !
we would be VERY Thankful to the persons who will be signing this petition !!
PLEASE Help us we are very very Hungry for kernel sources !!
we, Micromax-mobile users will be very thankful to u guys if u sign this petition !:good:
It wont take more than 2 minuets to sign this
once again i say please sign it God will bless u all !

ELI5 Kenel Source Code

hello, so i have been in communication with huawei regrading the kernel source. i mentioned the lack of source files for the mate 7 and how its part of the google/android agreement that oems must share all relevant sources for devices that use any part of android. they replied with the usual reply about how they will work hard to resolve this issue and whatnot. the rep did give me a link to the kernel source which i believe is for kitkat but i cant be sure so i hope that someone can verify.
having said that, why cant the kitkat source be used to build for lollipop and marshmallow? im still using a nook hd+ that is running MM......... WHAT??? how is this possible if the only kernel provided was for ICS? anyway, im going to keep poking at them until they either give up the LP/MM sources of they tell me to ****off. so, if anyone can please check out the link i would really appreciate it.
Lollipop Kernel?

According to Jai Mani (Lead Product Manager of Xiaomi India)
"When asked about the status of kernel sources for its devices (with a specific mention of the Mi A1 from our end), Mr. Mani commented that Xiaomi’s focus is on providing quality kernel sources and not just uploaded for the sake of it (we assume he meant complying with the GPL…), like several OEMs in the lower budget market tend to do (if they release sources at all). The internal goal of the company is to release kernel sources within three months. Mr. Mani also commented that unlocking the bootloader of Xiaomi devices does not void warranty."

Welp, done.
I feel cheated tbh, does it really take this long for Xiaomi to release source for all devices?

Done! I'm yet to buy this device and I'm waiting for the source code so that we can have some custom action.
Related stuff, OP5T launched yesterday and the company released its source code within 24 hours. That's some generous stuff.

Exactly, Xiaomi should learn how things must be done.Honestly I just think they are up to something else and provide false arguments just to misguide users.I mean don't they maintain a proper Kernel tree while developing for their device.
Why did google allow an exception to Xiaomi to handle the software update themselves? If it was done by google, things would have been different. How can this be an android one device? Just because it comes with aosp rom?

Wha... ... what does it should mean? They have to release the source used to compile the kernel running on the phone...
You don't compile a kernel, release the binary THEN do a complete quality check of the sources... come on mr. Mani, stop foolin around...
Here's another one.I request all mi a1 users to join this campaign. It will benefit us only.
