Database Info

Droid X Port...In Progress

So i have extracted and replaced the files i need. I ran into a problem. The Droid X uses a boot.img while our epics do not. Does anyone know what file i shoud use to replace the boot.img so our phones boot up?
And yes i am asking for help this is my first ROM so i am doing my best i hope you guys have a heart to help. : )

one would assume you may be talking about teh kernel, we use zimage

You're going to have to compile from source, and compile it for our processor. I read all of the stuff about you on the gingerbread leak thread, so I'm extremely doubtful that you will actually pull this off.

We are limited on devolopers already and to discourage one is really sad. Why don't you come up with a rom since his isn't good enough.

Do some research on darchevo before posting. He is a spammer and a phony. I am not discrediting the ROM, I am discrediting darchevo. Pipe dreams from 14 year olds are counterproductive to this community, and if he really wants to start developing, he should focus on something that he can actually tackle. Maybe you didn't notice, but I've been around this block before and why would I cook a ROM when I am a part of a team that is developing ROMs? I do my part.

I agree, I don't say much on here, but hopefully this can be pulled off...if he gets help now, who knows how this could peak the interest of the OP to develop something in the future...

Thanks to all of you guys who are actually thinking positive and to those who are thinking negitive, i hope you turn around.
I found the fix and im working on the rom now. Thanks to another 14 year old bubby323. Yes "we" can actually make a difference.
And to those of you guys saying things like "ohh no one wants this rom" speak for your self only. Many people would like to see their phones extend in usage and want to explore something new. Blur perhapes or even Xperia ROMS(Hint Hint). So thank you to all of you who support me. : )

Why bother porting cyanogen? Or htc sense or ubuntu? Because you can. Like people putting linux on the original ipod, or android on iphone. It's a good way to learn and develop skills.

Mainly because it's a pretty basic launcher which can be emulated and infact surpassed by paid for and even free launchers, sense on a sgs2 is more of what I would call a challenge and if possible a worthwhile port.

You can try Go Launcher EX, the default theme looks like TouchWiz

I have no idea, but I hate the fact that I expected a phone will TONS of great ROMs, but instead now find a whole bunch of the same ROMs, just with different tweaks.

Damn.. I guess I'm one of the few people who actually likes tw. I think it's just a psychological thing - I saw so many damn videos for months before getting this phone featuring stock tw that I don't really want other launchers on here. Plus, I had a captivate before and then an iPhone 4. So, tw just feel right.

I thought I put in some hours on stuff like this, but you run like a goddamn well oiled machine tirelessly. Wonder how many know you develop for other devices past the MT4GS as well... making your achievements that much more noteworthy.

The ROMs from Undead have been completely awesome. Apps run smoothly, memory is efficient, and the battery life is superb. I'm quite sad to see that he was banned due to actions from the past, and I'm slightly upset that there lacks a means for users to attempt an appeal on his behalf.

You mean Trebuchet or Nova Launcher ? I haven't tried Trenuchet yet. Waiting for it to be finished. Nova Launcher is pretty good almost never have errors and it
s very quick + I can use custom icons.

The mods in the NS section seem to let it slide for some reason.

It's not the thread we hate. This guy's known for being a huge troll. He tries acting like he's a huge genius and can make the best rom ever. He even made a Rom called Brick ROM that purposely bricks a phone.

HAKA, I see you have a sassy mouth.
bestROM is still in development, I'm waiting on the OTA, because that will be the most stable base possible.
I understand that the name is a bit arrogant, but what developer doesn't make the their best ROM that it possibly could be to suit their needs. . I'v reread the XDA rules and I have not been trolling as some of you say. How can posting a question about the two most most used launchers on ICS be trolling? I posted other threads too actually sharing mods. I really dont understand where all this hate is coming from, I have never told any of you to "**** OFF" while doing the HAKA dance. But I think this is pushing me to say bye to all of you and just buy a Galaxy Nexus as soon as it drops on Sprint.
The only thread that I've seen this kind of capping on, was Swamp Goblin's yesterday. Same thing, for NO REASON.
I've already had a covo with another member via PM, and he was very polite and shared his insight about whats wrong with the forums and I agree. We are all here to share our interest in technology, not to argue. If you really feel you must argue, I think all of that energy should go to good use and call your local legislators and tell them how unconstitutional SOPA is.
So I think we should progress back to the toipc of discusion.
And start by posting your insight on these two launchers.

I run CM9 Alpha, and I use Nov because I really like the cube transitions, in the app drawer & on the home screen. It also seems to feel smoother, but that could just be the transition settings being at a faster rate.
The thing that scares me about Nov, is that the dev says that once its done, he is going to make a pro version that will resevere features for only paid users, I have no problem with that, but it just makes me feel that he's not releasing his best, that we could all be using now, instead of waiting months down the line.
