Chef-friendly ROM?

Hi all,
This topic is particularly directed towards ROM chefs, although anyone who has an answer pertaining to it by all means should participate.
I would like to create a chef-friendly ROM, like Laurentius' released a while back. The reason for this would be that I would have my base if I ever managed to mess it up, and I could share my bases with this wonderful community.
I've heard that the .rgus and .dsms must be included, but do not have a clue how to do this.
Any help?
thanks guys
Yes, i would like to participate.
In the diamond forums i posted some sort of question also, about why the current roms are locked down.
Some guys say that is for space en free memory reasons, but why do i see the message "Go build your own rom" in allmost every rom when i dump it?
I don't intend to steal, and if i get a package out of someones rom i'll ask it first.
I'd like to see a more open forum(like the good old days) not that every dev is hiding their findings.
So i'm in for it!

precisely,
thanks for the support
sorry for the bump you guys, but is there anyone here that knows how to do this?
Send a PM to Its Right. He makes the TNT roms. He resides mostly in the hermes and wizard forums. He knows the answer to your question.
I totally agree with what your doing. I remember the good old days when packages and roms were shared freely. My kitchen is so far out of date its sad.
I would love to see a nice happy base. I would also love to see a new set of packages available.
I wouldn't mind participating in this "project" at all. I would love to share my base and even make OEMs if needed. Perhaps we can make a huge list of most commonly used OEMs (latest version) and split them among the chefs who would like to participate in this.
I honestly think a collection of OEMs is long overdue. I have a few newer packages that I would gladly contribute. I have been working on a new rom which will be the first one ive publically released.
my roms are always dumpable
look at the new manila2d roms they were looked but we managed to get everything out of it anyway just took us alot more time to get it the realy nesasary.
and by removing the rgu and dsm files you free maybe areound 1 mb prob less.
ok the windowsfolder loads faster but how often are we looking in the windows folder? I rarely do.
I only look there when i have to edit stuff like the start menu and i actually tend to test the speed of a ROM by going there and seeing how fast it loads. Anyhow, it opens up a lot faster in Reso Explorer since it omits system, rom, etc. files.

Great idea.
I would go step further - common web place for all OEMs (bases etc) where everyone could contribute to and dnld from.
I think we should make a kitchen pantry, just like in the wizard forums.
A place where we enlist bases, oems, cabs, tweaks, and cooking tricks.
A place where users can post their oems to rapidshare or whatever, and post the links here.
Then the mods or threadstarters post those links with info on the first page.
idea?
lets work it out.
I'll setup the base thread within a short hour.
so keep in touch

I have had this feeling since I bought the Kaiser over a year ago. It seems like all the main chefs on here for some reason do not want anyone to open their ROM up and look.
I am completely in on assisting in making OEM's. I would be happy to upload all my packages if someone has a place for them.
Count me in on this....
I have a ton of space left on my 4 share account. Once I get home from work today Ill open a public folder so anyone can upload to it. That way anyone that dosent have a place to put files can use it. I will also upload my packages to it.
Ill post links to my OEMs in Brams thread after work as well

Folder is created.
OEM Packages Folder
Decided to do it real quick from the office. The folder should be public with 4.5 gb of space to fill. If we should by chance run low on space I will gladly upgrade. Send me a PM if there are any issues with upload. I will link all of the packages to Brams Thread once I get home tonight if they arent linked already.

Iphone Devs in Eu

Hey folks,
We are a bung of developers from EUROPE and we need to see the Apple's Iphone Developers contract and what is mentioned in terms of the withholdings and what the process is and much more of that legal stuff.
So, anyone forward to us a copy of it to review? I guess it will appear somehow when you go to upload an an application as a publisher or something like that.
Haven't signed up yet.. would like to review all these issues before I do.
Anyone good fellow out there?

New Website

http://www.96edwy.com/
Hey guys, in the past few months i have been doing tutorial videos and reviews on youtube for winmo stuff. Now i have decided to make a website for everything winmo. At the moment the site is in development, layout is messy and stuff because it started out as a college project and i never really intended for it to go live so its just basic stuff (site is based around the HD2 because the assignment i had to do said the site had to be about one specific thing), few links and pictures etc. Hopefully i will be able to update it with all the latest winmo downloads and news, so if you wanna check it out the link is above. I would appreciate some feedback on the site and i am open to suggestions, you know... anything i can add to it, any cool scripts you guys have to make it look a little more flashy or any software that may help me build it.

Strongly need your advice

Hello everybody,
I am new to Android and web development in general. Recently Igot into a situation that is hard to figure out. I hope your professional advice can help me to solve the problem. A couple of months ago I realized that software dvelopment is a great way to earn money online. Making applications seemed to me the best way to have passive income streams bringing me cash from ads right into the pocket. I tried to code but it turned out to be so completely foreign to my mind and my nature, that I simply could not proceed.
Then, I decided to look for a company that actually develops software and knows how to do it. I found one company that looked legit and so we started working together. They created an app, implemented the ads and I uploaded it on the Android Market. It got really popular and I was so glad!
However, in a couple of months I noticed there was a new app that was EXACTLY like mine and it literally was stealling potential users that would choose MY app. I tried to contact the person but he said he had created the application before me. WTF! I saw he uploaded it AFTER I did.
What should I do? I see his app is increasing in downloads while mine is decreasing.
Report!! Perhaps???

Welcome to the world of application development. Unless he literally stole your code, there really isn't much you can do about it. All you can do is to update your app to make it more appealing than his application. Have you also stopped to think that you two might be working with the same company? Double-dipping much?

Thank you for your reply. Not many replied in my thread so I paticulary appreciate al the feedback I get
Is there a way to write an identical app ising a different code? I don't know about it.
Or, another qustion. Suppose he downloaded my app. How can he actually edit it? Does he use some sort of software? I was told, the apk file is like an archive that one can unzip and zip back again. But how would he do it, I wonder?
May be you are right and we are working with the same company although it's hard to imagine. There are thousands of companies in the world adn how in the world would we "meet" at one company? Here is thier website, by the way, may be it will help you to answer my questions --> a1qa website
May be you know better, I am a noob at software development, and I realize it.

You can easily unzip an apk file by using any Archive manager like WInZip, WinRAR , or 7-zip ... But can't actually make great changes like that ... But there is something called as Decompiling an apk, .. which will actually compiled the compiled java classes.dex file into .smali files... Now .. you can easily do some basic or sometimes even advanced changes to the app ... like for example .. you can change the app name by simply editing the string.xml in the res folder... then again recompile it into an apk and redistribute under a different name .. it's quite possible ... If you want to reduce the risk of such problems ... i'd recommend you have a look at ProGuard.
The ProGuard tool shrinks, optimizes, and obfuscates your code by removing unused code and renaming classes, fields, and methods with semantically obscure names. The result is a smaller sized .apk file that is more difficult to reverse engineer.

It is possible that someone can decompile your apk and read your source code if they had enough time and resources. If you are worried about such things you might have to begin using other techniques such as code obfuscation or encrypted compilers to protect your source code. And yes, it is possible to have two program do the same thing but have different source code to do it. Although there might be some parts that are the same, how you write you code will be different than how they write it.
You should be aware that making a lawsuit will cost you more money than you earned and if somebody makes something that does the same thing as you ddid, that still does not mean that they have stolen something from you. Jeez, how can somebody who hosts apps not know this, are you teenager or something?
Yes, in programming, it is possible to write programs in 50 different ways and do the same thing.
You cannot copyright ideas, only source code and functions...unless you are apple of course. They can copyright rectangular shapes.
What you should do? Get his app, and compare it to yours. I dont know if you can access source code in android apps because I dont develop aps yet, but if you can, you should compare his fuctions with yours. If the code is 80% simmilar, it is stolen.
