[ICONS] ★ HTC Sensation ★ Notification Icons Colored Pack V7 (Static) & V8 (Animated)
Hi all !
This is the 1st theme thread for the HTC Sensation !
These icons come from the HTC Sensation ROM and from my previous works.
Actually, I edit some icons by coloring them or adding some new images.
IMPORTANT:
Please note that these icons are from Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).
If you want to use them in a ROM with Android 2.1.x (Eclair) or 2.2.x (Froyo),
you have to move the icons from the systemUI.apk folder (in the zip file below) to your framework-res.apk and com.htc.resources depending on your ROM.

HOW-TO install these icons
Automatically
These packs (V7 & V8) are available in the Ultimate Online Tool kitchen (UOT) here:
http://uot.dakra.lt/
If you have some problems related to the kitchen, please go to the dedicated kitchen thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=990829
Manually
There is a simple and easy to use tool about editing your current framework in order to make your custom one available in this link:
THEME PRO
or
APK MANAGER
All the icons (.png format) should be placed in the drawable-hdpi folder.
All the xml files should be placed in the drawable folder.

Wow, the animations are awesome, great job!

can this be implemented on a non-htc phone? would look stunning on my atrix.

Love this, will give it a go tonite.
Any way to build this into a recovery-flashable zip, as opposed to manually replacing the files?

Brief answer, Yes but please check if some icons can be used or not in your phone's UI. Actually, each manufacturer has their own way to make their own icons. At worst, you have to rename the icons.

I am not going to make a flashable zip because it depends on your framework (there are billions different frameworks available in XDA forum). Btw, you can try the famous UOT kitchen to install it after you upload your framework there. I made this thread for Rom/Theme developers and advanced users who want to build manually their own framework.

since i'm coming from a milestone and yet not experienced with htc-modding, is it possible to push those icons via metamorph? (in my case on rooted desire s)
would be an easy way of changing those elements...

I have been hoping for something like this.
I have recently flashed the new ginger rom leak, I love the rom but hate the stock notification icons.
It looks as if I have to install these manually from reading above. I definitely want the animated ones, seems I need to delete some stock stuff first.
Great Job! Thank you,
I will spread the word on this!

Meant to ask, I make the EpicBlue series of themes for the D1/D2/D2G/DX over on DF.net (stetsonaw over there).
What I would like to know is if themers have permission to use this in their themes as releases, of course crediting you, but changing out images to match?

You can use it with metamorph but you may have to do some tweeks. Actually, don't try to make a blind copy & paste ^^. Just check the icons filename.

Awesome, thanks. I figured as much, but just wanted to make sure.

so i tried editing my frameworkres apk
i opened it in 7zip and drag and dropped(made sure filename and extensions, and resolution was all the same) and i let 7zip repackage it
tried installing rom...but now i get a force close whenever i go into settings or any kind.
do i need to resign or is there some other way of doing.

So this is quite possibly a noobish question, but this'll be the first time I attempt to push notification icons to my phone. I can push these to CM7 can I not?

To all people who try to push the icons manually in the framework:
You have to decompile the frameworks apk (systemUI, framework-res, com.htc.resources, touchwiz and so on...) to install the icons.
==>> Look at the 2nd post I updated.
Please note that decompiling is NOT like unzipping even the last method may work (only for icons V7 and impossible for V8 ones) for some users but it is a very dirty way to install these icons.

True, as it's always good to have a new resources.arsc created with any xml edit. Which v8 has.

Question: is the H+ & LTE in small print next to the 4G stock or something you put there?

It seems like there are several people here that know what they are doing. I am new to theming but not Android. When I use the files in the OP everything works great. I wanted to try creating my own mods, but I keep running into an issue when recompiling. I am using Apk Manager 5, and I thought I would start with something simpke, so I decided to try to do an animated battery charging. I add the image files to the correct drawable folder and replace the battery charger xml in the main drawable folder, both in framework-res.apk. When I recompile, using option 11, I get an error. It is very long and refers to the image files not being declared, but they are all there in the new xml. I have searched all over for the answer. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong. Thanks for any help.

Theme Name: ElementaL
Theme Version: 1.0.1
Android Version: 2.1
Supported Devices: SE XPERIA x10i-x10a
Color Combinations: Dark/Grey Black - Dark/Light Orange - Small brushes of Yellow/Gold/White
The story:
I was in the Post a (phone/desktop) picture of your X10 thread and I saw this amazing layout implemented by shukla. He used a Green-Black combination which bonded perfectly with his Black XPERIA x10. Trying to copy this layout , I ended up with an Orange-Black homescreen. Later to complete my homescreen I decided to play a little with framework files and this was the result!
A few words:
This theme contains fully colored icons in the statusbar, re-colored statusbar (expanded & contracted form), colored sub-menu buttons, headers and text boxes. I have included also some custom animations. It also contains the famous Battery Mod recolored (by me) that shows the exact percentage of battery or charging status. Moreover I have modified some the .xml files so that the clock and the date on the statusbar would be orange. Finally I have included an Installer to make things easier and faster , but also left the installation instructions there for anyone who might have trouble.
*The quality of the theme has nothing to do with the following pictures. This is just a demonstration of how your device will look after you apply this theme.*

Special Thanks: At this point I have to express my deep gratitude for all the support and testing I've received until now:
My_Immortal : For her invalueable support at brainstorming , scheduling , image editing , alpha testing and perfecting the guide on how to edit the .9.png images. Devising most of the mediascape.apk and creating the installer of this theme. She could be best characterized as a co-creator of this theme rather than an invaluable helper! I surrender to her knowledge!
_calum_ : For his contribution and programming support , alpha testing and supporting the idea of this theme.
DaRk_dOg : For his image editing tips and tutorials and the custom dialer buttons , the Launcher Pro docks and the Wallpaper he created from scratch , just for my theme only!
kishen80 , remcyl : For Wallpapers and Launcher Pro Docks contributions to my theme! Very nice additions!
Disclaimer:
Try to keep in mind that you are tampering with the device's system files and I am in no way responsible if not being careful leads you to a re-flash and loss of personal data. Make sure you do a full backup before attempting anything for your own good!
Also please do not post mirrors of this theme as I want to monitor the download count. Thanks in advance!

Very nice!
I just finished writing up a step by step for the notification text color in the themes reference thread, so once you've finished all those .9 png's you can make that clock orange
This is one of the few themes that will get me away from the dark10 series
If you PM me when you've got a download link up I'll add this to the themes collection in the reference thread.
Really nice

Hey nice work with the theme and the battery percentage.
If it doesn.t bother you, could you name the widgets on the main screen?
Thanks in advance, waiting for the final version. Cheers!

First of all I want to thank you all guys for your kind words. Really the .9.png files is the only obstacle that remains for me to finish the theme... Really if I can master editing those files then I'll just burn my brain cells in front of my pc to finish it!
Untill then , just a little patience and thank you for your kind words. Now onto your questions , let's see...!

Well ... to be honest I can't say it won't work for sure. It's just that x10a always has differences than x10i (for example rooting process) and I thought that MAYBE had some different .xml files or .png names and thus maybe a theme created for x10i framework wouldn't work good.
It was just a thought anyway , when I upload it you are welcome to try but I am in no way responsible if something goes wrong in any way...

*ElementaL Black / Orange Theme*
[*]Theme Name: ElementaL Black/Orange Theme
[*]Android Version: Android 2.1 - x10i only
[*]Colors Used: Dark Black & Grey Black / Dark Orange & Yellow Orange (and some White)
[*]Completion Percent: ~= 55%
[*]Download Links: framework-res.apk
[*]Short Description/Story: So to make a long story short I was in the Post a (phone/desktop) picture of your X10 thread and I saw this amazing layout implemented by @shukla. He used a major 'color-cracking' combination (Green/Black) which bonded perfectly with his Black XPERIA x10. That was my inspiration , I wanted the same thing for my White XPERIA but I didn't think that Green/Black matched nicely! So I turned it over to Orange/Black and it came out kind of nice! Later to complete my homescreen I decided to make a full theme with the same colour combination to match it and VOILLA...! ElementaL Orange/Black Theme has spawned! Enjoy!
[*]Progress: So far I have edited:
framework-res (Fully) [Released in ALPHA]
FriendPivot (Fully)
Phonebook (Partialy)
(constantly updating...)
[*]Installation Instructions:
Code:
1) Copy the framework-res.apk to your sdcard.
2) Don't forget to unmount your sdcard.
3) Download and install [URL="http://www.appbrain.com/app/android-terminal-emulator/jackpal.androidterm"][B]Terminal Emulator[/B][/URL] from market.
4) Open Terminal Emulator and type: [I]su[/I] - [B]hit enter[/B] [COLOR=red][B](you need root access)[/B][/COLOR]
5) Mount your system folder as Read/Write , to do this type: mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock2 /system - [B]hit enter[/B] [COLOR=red][B](watch the spaces!!!)[/B][/COLOR]
6) Replace files , to do this type: dd if=/sdcard/framework-res.apk of=/system/framework/framework-res.apk - [B]hit enter[/B]
This is still an ***ALPHA*** version. Keep in mind, if you are not accustomed with modifying system files, you run the risk of bricking your phone. I am not in any way responsible for what may happen to your device. The only device this theme has been tested on (and working) is mine. Please, keep a backup before proceeding with the installation. The beta version of the theme will be available shortly, after proper testing. Also please **DO NOT** post mirrors of the files , because I want to keep track of the download count!

Very nice Mr_Element! Orange is my favorite color and this combo looks amazing! Keep up the good work!
Edit: I downloaded the framework-res.apk.zip and when I extract it it actually extracts a folder containing all the files within it. Shouldn't it be a standard apk file? Not an actual folder? Or is this the way it should be?

Circle/custom battery, custom smileys, custom bootanimation for DHD 1.32/1.72

Hi friends,
If you want to have nice custom batteries as they are seen below - or smileys or bootanimation -:
First pull the framework-res.apk from /system/framework/ (only for custom battery icons)
there are two ways, you can find them here:
http://circle.glx.nl/how_to/
than:
1. Open http://circle.glx.nl/
2. Choose version. There are 4 options today (22/11/10):
a)SCB with %, Version [A-I] (you can choose whole themes)
b)SCB with %, Version Z, Custom type, colors (you costumize what you want to get)
c)Flashable zip only (if you have the framework-res.apk what you want to flash)
d)No battery, theme only
3. Choose or make your battery icons. (only a,b,c)
4. Decide if you want emoticons. Status bar icons doesn't work with DHD.
a)Do not include icons - No emoticons and status bar icons
b)Themed icons sets - You choose wich pack you like
c)Custom uni-color icons - You choose a color, and you get the status bar icons in this color
5. If you chose b or c, than you make your icons.
in b) you need to check the "include icons" to have them. To choose use the "preview" link.
in c) you choose color and generate the icons
6. You just click next, as the Status bar notification editing is only for the Desire.
7. If you want to have a new boot animation
a) find the place of your current bootanimation.zip (you can do it in your ROM's zip, for ex.)
b) Select place for bootanimation
c) select desired animation
8. Set Select ROM you use to Desire HD ROM, then next.
9. Choose your framework-res.apk, click next.
It will upload it and generate the flashable zip file.
10. Click download.
11. Boot into recovery.
12. Make a backup!!!
13. Flash the zip you downloaded.
14. Reboot.
15. Enjoy it
If you want to change a CM7 battery, than you should see this thread:

Anyway, there is a way to do the same thing with default ROM ?
Thanks

few app has an .odex file and an .apk
the de-odexed ROMs don't have the .odex files
if you take a look at Pay's ROM or LeeDroid's ROM, you'll find something like this:
-Full De-odexed
in the features.
Make a backup, flash a deodexed ROM and flash the custom battery and smileys
It's not possible to de-odexed the default rom ?
framework-res doesn't have a .odex file. I believe this is because HTC allow us to download skins from their website and they overwrite files in the framework-res.apk
Are you making sure to select Desire HD rom in the kitchen?
Yeah absolute i make the procedure twice
as I know deodexing is a requisit for theming
and of course it is possible to deodex a stock ROM, but believe me, the guys with the custom ROMs make a lot of tweakes what you shouldn't miss : )

Download Theme for 3/26/11 Here!!!
thoughtlesskyle said:
this is based off the newest aospGBmod posted early this morning i will likely be making new versions of this till he posts a deodex'd version:
This is a Full ROM (not just an Update or Theme)
-you MUST do a clean install (since the build is odex'd failure to do a complete wipe will cause problems)
features,
- twopointthree theme (minus the themed desk clock the stock ones still works though)
- a lot of bloat removed
-stock launcher2
-notification tray toggle switches are removed
-added back the stock (themed) music.apk
things i have taken out
-pacman.apk (used for installing commonly downloaded items from the market on the markets first use)
-livewallpaperpicker - i dont use live wallpapers so it just took up space for me (i will likely make a flashable zip to put them back in for people who want them)
-adwlauncher (the market one is better atm anyway)
-cm wallpapers
-home screen tips
-probably a few other things
download here
THIS ROM IS AOSP'S WORK, I SIMPLY THEMED IT AND REMOVED THINGS FROM IT!
this is a screenie of the twopointthree theme since i cant get drocap to work (you will not have the homescreen tips)

can i get a update zip for just the signal bars

Wow I was just thinking, "wouldn't it be great if he made a new twopointthree for aospGBmod 0.2"
And so I check XDA forums and BANG here it is.
Thanks a million. I will use it religiously.
Glad to see you're still working on your themes for GB, downloading now
Ok, I can't download it stupid 4shared keeps quiting download right away and I only get 100KB of it... Anyone else having problems? I'm doing this on a computer not my phone (which gives me the same damn problems)
updated the first post, now that i have a ROM to build off of i should be able to RLS mostly updates for a while.
in order to use the update, starting from scratch
-nandroid
-install the ROM
-install your Gapps
-boot go through startup wizard (or just boot up if not using the wizard)
-then flash the update
if already using the ROM
-make a nandroid
-flash the update
enjoy guys! its bed time for me again
Please, I wouldn't normally ask this, but could you re-upload to somewhere besides 4shared? I cant download the ROM.
Great job Kyle! Looks awesome as usual my man. As soon as aosp gets Bluetooth and GPS working I'll be on the 2.3 bandwagon

I've gotta say I am not a fan of clockworkmod v3.0.0.5. It wil not let me install scripts like this update. Going back to Darchs RA recovery image!
looks awesome, nice work kyle! fyi, your latest update was done on 11/14/2011, lol. check the post. also, as this is a rom, you should put it into the development thread again, nice work.
what files control the signal bar?
and same for volume bar

i would put this in the development thread but doing that just would not be true, this is a theme with a modified slimed down ROM, i did not produce the rom and the rom already has its own Development thread.
also i fixed the date in the OP

the signal bars are in the systemUI folder
the volume up and down are controlled by an xml in the framework-res
since the stock ROM is odex'd you cant just flash this over top of it hence why you cant just have the signal bars, i am getting around it because i have modified the ROM so i can get in and tamper with it without causing an issue
ur good at theming, is everything i need to theme besides apps in the framework folder? or is it just framework.apk an stuff that has .jar have nothing to do with themeing

Use root explorer or any other file explorer that allows you to write over system folder and just remove the file from your phone , and I woul recommend you to use Rocket Rom. The closest to stock just slightly tweaked for performance and gorgeous battery life

Wow that's great thanks for the info it worked! Awesome transparent pull-down now & loving the extra options!
Now say I wanted to change the icons (i.e. I like digital battery theme). Do you know, would it simply involve using a program like 7zip to just go in & swap the images? Or would I have to recompile & sign the zip & stuff?

IT would work if you choose the right pngs and change their names to match exactly the ones in the apks and if they are same size , I have not decompile anything. I am waiting for eybee197p to help me with that. But even without decompiling and recompiling It works OK

This is probably because I'm using stock, but the iPhone-style clock ( )in the middle of the status bar is interfering/overlapping with status bar notifications. Like I just updated a market app & when I got the status bar "app successfully updated" it overlapped with the clock. Any fix?

Not from me, it is the price you have to pay for having it centered. Not a problem for me though. XML editing is on devs. I only do Photosop and a lot of hours thinking how to fit everything

[MOD][XT1053,XT1058][TMO,ATT][4.4][4.4.2] AOSP Signal Icons

This mod kills the ugly extra space next to the network signal bars that display network type, i.e. E, "4G", and 4G LTE. The mod changes a few bools.xml values and enables the stock icons.
Zips marked "EHLTE" show indicators for E, H, and LTE instead of E, 3G, and 4G (my preference, the one in the screenshots). Unless another version number is specified in the title, all mods are for stock 4.4 ROMs.
UPDATE 1/2/14: Thanks to @hartom, I made a mod specifically for AT&T phones (XT1058). I only did the "EHLTE" version for now, if I get enough requests I can make the other one too.
UPDATE 2/13/14: New mod up for XT1053s running the latest 4.4.2 update!
MANUAL INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Download your choice of mod from bottom of post, unzip and find SystemUI.apk
2) BACK UP your phone's original SystemUI.apk and SystemUI.odex from system/priv-app
3) Delete the SystemUI.odex that you just backed up
4) Copy the new SystemUI.apk to system/priv-app, overwriting the old one
5) Set permissions on the new file to rw- r-- r--
6) Reboot
Before installing, MAKE SURE TO BACK UP, if not your whole ROM, then at least your original SystemUI.apk and SystemUI.odex from system/priv-app. If your status and navigation bars disappear, make sure the permissions of the new SystemUI.apk are correctly set to rw-r-r.

One other quick question. You and chaoslimits have inspired me to download apktool and start looking at this stuff myself. Does systemui.apk have to be deodexed before it can be edited? Or can I just pull systemui.apk from my /system/priv-app/ folder and get to work?

Well if only the bars are blue, I'm pretty sure it's not GB because that mod affects all the icons on the status bar. There is actually a line in the bools file, <bool name="config_enable_carrier_wide_icons_are_blue">false</bool>, that was set by default to false on my phone but may somehow be opposite on yours. Or maybe your systemui uses blue icons by default instead of white ones. I know on VZW phones they defaulted to gray. There's also the fact that you have an AT&T model phone, but I'm not sure how much that factors in. I'm pretty new to this, so can't say for sure sorry.
No problem, I'm glad to hear that other people appreciate it too
Thanks, I'll look into that and let you know what I find. I haven't needed to edit xmls and junk for a few years.

Either file should work for your phone if you flash in a custom recovery such as CWM or TWRP. You can use whichever one you want, depending on what letters/symbols you want to be displayed. One will show you '3G' and '4G', the other 'H' and 'LTE' ones.

As my first foray into the world of android modding, I decided to fix one of the only things that bothered me about my Moto X—the ugly extra space next to the network signal bars that display what network you're on, i.e. E, "4G", and 4G LTE. The mod changes a few bools.xml values and enables the stock icons.
The two attached files are flashable zip files for GSM unlocked XT1053 ("T-Mobile") Moto Xs running stock, rooted 4.4 KitKat software. The second zip changes the indicators to E, H, and LTE instead of E, 3G, and 4G (my preference, the one in the screenshots).
MANUAL INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
