htc is good

The new ASUS Eee Pad Transformer 10" w/Honeycomb sound very good!

Depends on how much and what you are looking for and what you want to do with it...I went with the nook color and flashed android on it and I love it. I choose the nook because I didn't need a camera or needed all the features. As of now I have Gingerbread running on cm7 and over clocked at 1.1ghz .runs smooth, flash player works as well as youtube. Hell u can even running honeycomb off that lil ****er.$250 for it....can't neat the price ...oh and ya this ebook reader runs flash stock soon and the Ipad is 400 bucks and it can't.....I find that funny..

[Q] Love my Cappy but need tablet for the wife.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a cheap tablet that I could hack to make better like we do the Cappy. I know the Nook Color was all the rage for a bit but not sure whats out there now..
Just got a Nook Color for Christmas for my family, and I can honestly say that once you hack it, it's actually a really nice tablet. We got it on Overstock for $140, and you can run Cyanogenmod, MIUI, or a rooted stock on it. The screen is really responsive, and if you run CM, you can overclock it to about where the Captivate is at.
Just my two cents.
My wife is getting a Nook tablet for Christmas. I want to root it right away and install a custom honeycomb rom. She will want to keep it stock... We will have to see what happens!
1ghz, dual core, should be petty nice! Also ordered an Otterbox case and a 32gb Sandisk class 4 micro sd for it.

I would definitely say touchpad, and with cm9 coming in the future and all the roms you want. its a no brainer
Asus Transformer. With the Prime coming out, the Transformer is pretty cheap right now, and it is going to be supported by the CM team for CM9.
If it's just for reading books, get a cheap $60 7" tablet.
If it's for other things, go for a Nook.
Good luck!

Asus transformer TF101 is a great deal IMO. Asus said ICS is coming out soon too...

I agree with what others have said:
Nook Color if you're going super-budget
Nook Tablet if you want more power
HP TouchPad if you want 10" instead of 7"
touchpad. If you can find one it'll be more expensive now but its still really good.

Xoom or Galaxy Tab?

I'm in the market for a tablet but am uncertain of which one of the 2 I should get. What do you guys think?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
The Galaxy tab is the better of the two but i would really recommend you spending the (maybe) extra $100 and getting a Transformer Prime, it's the thinnest and most powerful tablet of the market
xoom, but wait til xoom 2 comes out, it will be amazing!
Looking at the transformer right now...
When is the xoom 2 coming out?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
The Xoom 2 is already out. It's called the Motorola Droid Xyboard in the US, and the Xoom 2 everywhere else in the world. The Xoom 2 is NOT a Google Experience device like the original Xoom was. It's full of Motorola and Verizon bloatware and I believe it has a few UI customizations too. It's not stock Honeycomb.
If having a Google Experience device matters to you (meaning having all the latest updates and using Android in vanilla form as Google made it), then get a Xoom. If that doesn't matter as much to you, then get a Galaxy Tab or an Asus Transformer Prime.
I personally have a 4G LTE Xoom and love it.
That's actually very good information... thanks for that...

Depends, When your being attacked by a man for what ever reason, which tablet would you think will be able to knock him out and still be usable?
Durability is my #1 requirement when buying a tablet.
The Xoom is only a Google experience device if it is sold in the states otherwise it's a tablet that's a few versions behind.
The transformer, while not a google experience device it is really quick on updates like it gets them within a month-ish of being released. That may not seem fast but it has consistently been the most quickly updated tablet and the only skin on it is changing the look of the buttons on the device.
Vote for Galaxy tab

+1 for the Galaxy Tab. I bought this for my wife for Christmas and she loves it. The only downfall that I can point out is: 1) No USB port, 2) No external memory.
But hey, if you have dropbox, or a wifi connection, USB isn't needed. And just make sure you get enough internal memory to last you.
+1 for the Galaxy Tab.
Compare the specs and hardware of the Xoom against the Acer Iconia , more bang for the buck with Acer, and you can find them for $250 ish
I like how the movies play more in a wide screen format compared to the Ipad and Xoom...and XDA does have pretty robust forum.
The Iconia does beat the rest on port selection; its left edge is home to a 3.5mm headphone jack and a mini-HDMI port, while the right side holds full-sized USB and Micro USB ports. Under the port cover on the top you'll find a MicroSD card slot, taped-over SIM card slot, a rather stiff volume rocker, and a rotation lock switch. The USB 2.0 port is certainty a bragging right for the Iconia,

Also, faced with the same question, my money went (today) on a Xoom. My wife's playing on it right now, while I post from my ancient dell latitude running Ubuntu. It's not even the latest ver of Ubuntu. What's up with that?
John
Xoom. I tried it in a local store yesterday and I loved the pure Google experience. I also tried the Xoom 2 but it had Motoblur including all the icons which made it look bad in my opinion. I'm the type of person who likes the pure Google experience. The Galaxy Tab is too similar to an iPad in my opinion and I don't like Touchwiz either.

The Galaxy tab is the best tablet

hmm your input please?

Sup everyone want to ask you a question in my decision of a tablet. Well i recently bought a kindle fire and after a using it with cm7, ive really liked using android and a tablet. So im thinking of upgrading to a another tablet with better specs and bigger screen. I was looking at the asus transformer tf101 and acer a500 cuzz there both in my price range used. So which is better? Should i buy either one, hold out for something upcoming or stick with the fire. I was sold on asus tf101 because it got the ics update.
Hmm That;s great
Well from a quick google search, the a500 looks a bit cheaper than the other one. I'd just ask myself if ICS is worth the extra money. It really depends on what you use your tablet for. You may be fine just keeping the fire.
the evo view looks pretty good...all depends on your carrier doe
iPad 3.
I personally like the HTC Jetstream and Flyer. They are very nice devices.

I am with the friend here but I believe that the ICS is sure worths the extra bucks...this is the point here, if you get the ICS tablet then you should be closer to happening now android things...
Asus 101 had it loved had to sell it Acer is super thick wouldn't go that route plus t.f. can be a laptop if needed
Sent from my XT875 using xda premium
I've used both and I like the Acer A500 more. They both are the same spec, the Acer build quality is good actually.
The Transformer can be a laptop, but to me its pointless because it is a tablet and if I wanted to buy it for laptop ability then I would have bought a Windows laptop to run Microsoft Office or other heavy desktop program that Android can't.
The real reason I prefer the A500 is that it has a fullsize USB on the device itself, this is a big win. But the Asus sliding tablet has both a slideout keyboard and USB which beats them both in term of functionality.
USB is nice however you can buy a USB host and your good Acer seemed way to thick compared to Asus imo

Flyer definitely!!!1
Also the galaxy 10.1 2 is coming out soon sent with ics

If you are looking for a used tablet with the future capabilities of ICS and want a quality tablet then I recommend the current Galaxy Tab 10.1 which is set for an ICS update in the future. Its a nice device...
Personally I wanted to get an Acer Iconia, But when I saw the Asus Transformer TF101 I decided it was the one. Bought the dock a week later. and now with ICS out and being developed its gotten alot smoother
Asus transformer all the way
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
I would go for the transformer (or prime if you can afford it) because a) ICS and b) the keyboard attachment is really great
Why not take you Kindle Fire you have now and try out some of the ICS Roms? I mean some of them dont have HW Acceleration but the devs working on them should get that working anyday now! I have a Kindle Fire w/ ICS and it is amazing!
I've invested $200 into HP Touchpad
10" 1.2 MHz duo-core machine, overclockable.
Waiting for ICS beta for it

[Q] original Xoom still worth it?

I'm looking for a tablet to play around with and I'd like 10 inch over 7 - wife has a Kindle Fire that I don't mind using but is a little too small.
I am potentially looking at a 32gb wifi Xoom for $200 through craigslist. The price is right, obviously.
Would anybody NOT recommend the Xoom for 200 bucks?
Take it, dont hesitate certainly worth 200 you wont regret it

Yes, what he said.
ooooh yes ! Mine is running the stock ICS ROM. I tried a few new ICS quadcore devices in some shops, the last one was an Acer A510, and compared to my Xoom none was as smooth as mine !!! The A510 was horribly laggy !!!
The prime was equal in fluidity compared to my Xoom but knowing the GPS / WIFI issues on it I prefer my Xoom ...
I know quadcores are better for gaming but I don't play. They are also better to display 1080p videos but these files are so big in size, and to display 1080p on a 1280 x 800 display is absolutly useless !
So I will wait for one or two more Android tablet generations before changing mine.
Don't let it go. Get it. Xoom is my favourite amongst all. Worth the price.

The Xoom is great tablet to consider.
I've got an ipad and plain vanilla xoom blows it away Imo... Now with honey comb things were closer but with ics, hands down I pick up my xoom over the ipad for almost every chore...
Now that I'm rooted and overclocked a tad its like this tablet is still at the top..
Fwiw you can get a brand new one on ebay for about 300 or so..
Sent from my Xoom using XDA
I got mine on ebay for $217. Most were still selling over $300. IF you can get one for only $200, get it before someone else beats you to it.
dont miss this - i also still prefer the xoom over any other tablet at this point - buy now
I traded my galaxy tab 10.1 for a Motorola Xoom LTE and I have never been happier. Id take that sucker if i were you for 200 dollars.
Best 1st Gen tablet. And probably still the best overall. All the hardware works as it should battery is fantastic.

My question is-what better tablets? Transformer Prime looks great on paper but with so many screaming about this and that not working, screen bleed, etc...it's not a prize, lol. What else is there right now, that can touch the OG Xoom in overall goodness? The Transformer Infinity Tab looks interesting, and the upcoming Google tab may be good too. But they are not available yet.

NO Get the REGULAR XOOM Do NOT and I repeat NOT Get The Family Edition think of it as a Kids Version of the Xoom which is way harder to mod.

Should I get a Nexus 10 or a Transformer Infinity?

How well has the TF700 held up in the past year? I've heard of its lagginess, but I'm willing to add CROMI to it, which I hear improves its performance dramatically.
I'll be using this tablet for media consumption (music, streaming movies/ shows, movie file playback, etc.), eBook reading, general web browsing, and the occasional GBA emulating.
Basically, I'll be looking to have this tablet for at least around a year before I upgrade, so should I look to the TF700?
Asus will release a new gadget soon. If you can wait some more weeks.
Otherwise, both are very good tablets. I really love mine.
If I can bought another one, definitely I'm going to Xperia Z. Take a look. Seen to be very good one.
My best advice is that you should wait for the upcoming Transformer Infinity with Tegra 4, it will outclass both the Nexus 10 and the tf700 in terms of hardware. Nevertheless, if you need to get a tablet now, and since you mentioned GBA emulating, I would recommend the tf700 because it has this really awesome thing called the keyboard dock. I don't know how easy it is to connect a Bluetooth keyboard to the Nexus 10, but on the tf700 with the dock, you can map all the on-screen virtual buttons to the hardware keys on the dock when you run those GBA emulators. How awesome is that? Running GBA games with real buttons is a joy.
Other than that, the Nexus 10 is obviously the faster device. Just my 2 cents.
I would just wait. The next generation of tablets are right around the corner.
Sent from my HTCONE
I would definitely just wait. The Transformer has some pretty bad problems with performance due to poor I/O speed. So, if you were going to get one right now, I would get the Nexus 10.
Wait to see what the new one is going to do.
