Hi everyone. I maintain all birthdays and anniversaries for my contacts in the contact details. But somehow, they automatically become reminders. How can I set the phone up (including Outlook on PC) to not to make reminders out of birthdays and anniversaries, but still have them in calender as annual events (without reminders)?
Using Kaiser, WM6 (Alex's Clean ROM); PC has Vista, Outlook 2007.
Not positive about Outlook 2007, but in 2003 (which is where I'd change them), once you open the calendar hit, there is a "reminder" box which, if unchecked, will not provide a reminder for the event. You'll want to make sure you open the series, not the individual event before unchecking the reminder box.
That's just ur way of saying you don't wan't to rember you'r anniversarie lol..

Thanks debs, but I already knew that method of disabling reminders, but the problem is that it has to be done for all of them one by one, which is very annoying if you, let's say, hard reset and restore your contacts, it syncs with outlook and then you have your reminders again; or let's say you add new contact in either pc or ppc, sync and another set of reminders.....
I was looking for something that would disable the automatic reminder.
I use SPB diary for these events to be displayed on today screen, so don't really need to reminded at midnight that someone's birthday or anniversary is coming up!

I have the same problem. The main problem is not that it reminds me. I need it to remind me. But I don't want it to remind me at midnight. I want to be reminded at 10 AM for example.
And you are right, we should be able to set reminder for a category of reminders such as Birthdays, Anniversaries, Holidays, etc..
Anyone has a solution for this?

Hi Damac,
You've probably figured this out by now, but ...
1) In Outlook: Tools -> Options...
In the calendar section there's a checkbox for default reminder. That needs to be unchecked to prevent any new calendar items from getting a reminder. Unfortunately this affects all new items; Birthdays, meetings, etc. You may wish to leave this on and just periodically kill off the annual events that you don't need a reminder for.
2) In Outlook: Calendar mode. View -> Current View -> Annual Events (or Events).
This will show a table of all annual events.
Right click on the heading bar (Subject, Location, Recurrence, etc) and select field chooser.
This will open another floating dialog with extra fields that can be added to the table.
Find "Reminder" in the field list and drag it to the heading bar in a suitable spot.
Now any event that has a reminder will have a little alarm bell icon in the reminder field.
You can single click each of those icons to turn off. It's easier than it sounds and most annual events you won't want a reminder for anyway as the alarm always goes off at midnight!
3) On the PPC: This is for a 6.1 version, but it's similar on all of them.
Start -> Settings. Personal tab. Sounds & Notifications.
Sounds tab. This section alows you to turn off sound for all alarms and notifications.
Notifications tab. Select the 'Reminders' event. This allows you to choose the sound that plays and also whether the sound repeats, light flases & vibrate.
Since I do want to be notified of important days, I've just unchecked the repeat box. There's nothing more annoying than being woken up at midnight by a constant notification alarm about Aunt Bessie's birthday. I can put up with a single alarm, but not a repeating one!
Just like the previous poster, I'm also looking for a way of getting the all day events notifications to activate at a time other than midnight...
Cheers,
Anthony
Anyone got a solution to this?
I want it to remind me at a time I select too. Not midnight.
*push*
Me too. Same problem with annoying reminders at 23:45...
Greets,
Puschel
When I was still using the IMate Jam (can remember the operating system) it had a option to set the reminder time for all day events.
Why did they change something that worked.
I wish I can get that code of the imate en add it to my HTC Touch pro 2 (WM6.5)

I'm like yourself, I want to be reminded of families birthdays, anniversaries etc but don't want to be reminded at 12.00am.
To stop this I sync'ed my device with Outlook and then changed the reminder notification time to 0.5 days for each birthday/anniversary
Tip, when you open a birthday/anniversary....make sure you click on 'open the series'
Also, you can change the default notification time so for any new birthdays/anniversaries the default time will be set to whatever you choose, i.e. in my case 0.5 days

Thanks. I am doing this already as a work around. But I want the reminder to ring on the day of the birth day not the day before. The Imate Jam (WM 2003) had a setting " all day begin at .... "
Hello Everyone,
I have been lurking around here for a few months looking at all the options before I purchased a new phone. Now I have a nice shiny TD2 and have already flashed it 4 times with various roms from the guys on here. May I say all the different roms are fantastic and the time you put in to do this is immense. My everyone keep up the good work.
Right down to my question.
I have various calendars set up via Outlook 2007.
1 Home Calendar
2 A Formula 1 calendar downloaded from the BBC.
3 A work Calendar.
Is there any way that these 3 can be displayed in the default calendar on the phone? That is the HTC Sense calendar.
Thanks for your time

It is not possible to replace the Sense calendar with another one, but you can sync all to Sense or you can create shortcuts from home tab to point to your other caledar aps with ssmaho.
You can use google calender for this
1 put all calenders in google calender
2 sync phone with google by activesync
3 you have 3 calenders in your phone
Thanks exo.
I will try this as it gives me what I need.
Hi
The calendar only shows app. the past 2 months entries, even though they are present in the google web calendar.
Are there any setting where you can set the 'old' calender timeout?
/Michael
Hi XDA,
Long time lurker, first time poster
For while now I'm looking for an app that gives me calendar reminders. I have two calendars set-up on my android phone, 1 MS Exchange calendar (work) and 1 google calendar (personal). I'd like to get sound notifications for my personal calendar only, not for the work calendar. I like my work-calendar in my phone just so I can check what's up in my spare time, I get reminders @ the workplace via my PC.
The way I see android work is that either I get notifications for ALL calendars, or I get none. I'd like to get all notifications for one specific calendar.
I'd like an app that integrates, aka I don't want to make new calendar-entries specifically for the seperate notification. I'd like the app to look at my google calendar.
I've been looking for this kind of app for quite a while now, I'd really like it!
Guys,
For making new calendar entries on the phone - I have 5 calendars (Home, Work, Business, Anniversaries and reminders) out of which I want to set Business as my default option when entering a new entry. But right now it's showing up as Work.
Is there a way to do this? I've looked through all the settings but can't seem to find a way.
