If anyone know how to unlock them (well I don't really know how otherwise I wouldn't post this LOL), please send me a PM. Thanks.
Large QTY available and of course will pay.
Option 1 - you have access to Verizon's secret database to get the correct code
Option 2 - you have your own program that can break the lock permanently.
TurboSim is not an option for me.
Sending the phones out to someone to unlock is not an option either.
Buying codes from ebay, from Swiftunlocks, etc... Dude, don't you think I have tried them all already?

sorry, u are not d only one with d problem
it was FALSELY advertised as global phone, so we tot it can be used any where in the word...
It is a global phone. But a Verizon global phone...
To the OP, I would check in GSM unlocking forums, where people lurking there have some serious experience in phone unlocking..
There might be a hardware solution available.

I know this has been probably long been debated but... we bought a MOTOROLA phone with Verizon as our service provider. Why should they choose to lock the phone up if we want to use it abroad? Why should they dictate how we can receive service on OUR MOTOROLA devices? Personally I think if we want to unlock these without an active contract with Verizon that should be our choice, or at the very least Motos.

I know this is an old thread but I thought my input might help others.
I got 2 D2Gs in Jan 2011 and I called Verizon and got both of them unlocked without any issues. I already travelled to 3 different countries and have used 3 different GSM providers. The codes worked perfectly fine.
3G, 2G, H, etc... You name it! They all worked fine.
How about POSTING them in the thread?

You get one code and it will on your phone and no one elses. Also I've heard if you fail to enter a correct code 10 times the phone is locked forever from being global on another gsm provider. You will be locked to verzion period if you leave the country.
This is all i've heard.
not anymore

My codes are obviously not going to work with your phone, unless what you wanted was for me to post pictures of my D2G working on all those bands. If ever someone wants to go figure how the code matches my IMEI/ESN and what not, I would be happy to PM them all the info.

That's good to know. I was shocked the other week to find out that Verizon has basically removed their global plans from their offerings (they exist for some areas, but $100 for 70MB is a joke). Thus, for an upcoming month-long trip I'll drop $40 on a local GSM data SIM and end up better off. I'm already unlocked so again, thanks for the confirmation.
Any travel to Europe and Asia is going to cost you a fortune for roaming. I used to use Verizon's global data all the time, but lately, I had to get the Droid 2 Global just to keep Verizon phone, my love for Android and not break bank by using local sim cards for data and calls.

I have a motorola drois 2 Global.
Can you help mt to unlock it?
So I may have gotten lucky but this is my input on my droid 2 global sim unlocking.
When I received the phone pretty much the first thing I did was root it to install Fission de-blurred rom. Ok? Good.
You would have to go to defuze's website to get all the details on installing their Roms (its not hard). But after installing the rom along with the droid 2 global fix it simply... worked. Kid you not.
I called a Verizon rep I had worked with before to unlock it and we were confused as to why when putting in a different sim card it did not ask for a unlock code. Even stranger under security sim settings the only option available was to re-lock.
Hell I gave it a shot in popped in a t-mobile sim I had from my touch pro 2 unlocked and called from my droid 2 global and what do you know, worked flawlessly.
My best guess is the droid 2 global fix that automatically installs when installing the rom.
I have not had the opportunity to test abroad yet though I don't have plans to travel until maybe this summer money permitted.
**edit
This doesn't actually worked I checked again and the number which makes the call is my verizon number not the tmobile number of the sim card inside. So now to figure out how to unlock my droid 2 global.

well i have the Fission ROM running on my D2G and it still asks for a network unlock code whenever i put my simcard in.
Not a lot of ROMs for the D2G. Unless you use ports of D2. Seems like codes work for some and don't work for others. I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with what ROM you're using.

Yeah I agree fully it seems weird but like I said it just worked. I may have gotten lucky with a already unlocked phone which was the Verizon rep's input on it. I was putting it out there in case someone had not tried this yet.

I have ordered D2G this week and its locked for Verizone too. But I have heard about the page in Poland, where they will send you a message in two days with a number to unlock your Motorola for 23Euro. People who had tried that, wrote that it works, so I will try it too. This is the page:sim-unlock.net. Maybe you will success too.

any luck with that?
I will try it tomorrow. No money on my account, so I can not pay for the code. I will write here about the experience with unlock code
I know a lot of people are talking about the turbo sim, but I am really not into the sim patch. I really like this phone, but also need it SIM unlocked.
Since I am on Page Plus, there's no way for me to get an unlock code from Verizon.
I question is, is there anyone ever unlocked Droid 2 Global by 3rd party vendor's unlock code? I was searching web and ebay, and did found some people.
Do all 3rd party vendor's unlock codes fail, or some of them work and some don't?
Please let me know your experiences. Thank you!
I actually got in touch with 2 different 3rd party code vendors and they both gave me the same 2 codes. I had also managed to get Verizon to give me the codes themselves without having the phone activated with them (it involves a little social hacking and a lot of luck). The thing is that Verizon gave me 3 unlock codes, 2 of which were the same that the vendors had given me.
Long story short, I couldn't unlock the phone even with the codes I got from Verizon (one of them was different from what the vendors had given me). I am not currently in the USA and apparently the phone needs to connect with the Verizon network to complete the unlock. I don't know if you really need to have the phone activated with Verizon at the time that you enter the unlock code or if you just need the phone to be able to reach the Verizon network.
I will be going to the USA next month and will be trying this out but it'll be around mid April before I'm able to post my results.
Yeah, im guessing the code MAY or may NOT work IF you're in the US ( as it can reach verizons network). Otherwise it just seems like theres no way it would work. Mine would come up with a "network unlock unsuccessful" as soon as i entered the code, like seriously, right away.
Also, lol @ "social hacking"
xD

When I unlock mine, I was outside US, outside of VZW network reach. But I guess mine was one of the not specially locked ones. They say the first batch wasn't tampered with (I got mine in the week of release, as soon as it was available at retail VZW stores)

I'm sorry if you get it this way. No, absolutely not, I am not teasing anyone, believe me, despite mine being unlocked already, I am still researching a solution of this problem. The turbosim idea was actually mine if you guys have been following it since the unlocking troubles started. The turbosim is the noob-style solution. I am pretty sure we can address the "locks" with some gsm shop equipment, just as for many other phones, motorola and other brands. The problem comes this is US only phone available in US only. Only if it was made available to "the old continent" for example, it would have been torn apart million times by now, every bit of it exposed, figuratively speaking.
Too bad time flies, soon D2g will be forgotten. I can tell you I am ditching mine as soon as Droid 3 with appropriate for my carrier GSM/UMTS/LTE bands is released. I can't pass by 4 inch screen and 5 row qwerty portrait slideout kb, as well as, I guess, some dual core madness with lots of ram under the hood too. Sorry I went way too off topic....

Yeah, as much as i hate Motorola's decision favouring a locked bootloader, I think im gonna go with the Droid 3 after this one. In my opinion, theres no other phone model/series that
1. Has a qwerty keyborad
2. Looks good
3. Has good build quality
4. Doesnt have a Win7phone-like price tag
Seriously, i wish the Xperia Pro looked DECENT at least.

sorry if this is a redundant question, but if VZW gives the unlock code... will it then work on AT&T?
as far as i know, it wont. It will be unlocked to use on any GSM carrier outside the US, as AT&T, T-Mobile, etc. network IDs are blocked and that block is unrelated to the SIM lock.

an eficient step-by-step method to unlock a Droid 2 Global locked from Verizon.
No TurboSIM or similars.
Who are with me?
WE HAVE $10 UNTIL NOW [XDA_Developers + DroidForums]
I don't think that lack of monetary compensation is holding any of the fine coders and tinkerers in XDA. Still if anybody takes the offer you can have $20 from me.
i like this phone so much
i would pay 100 dollars to have mine unlock, i am actually thinking of buying one unlocked

Hey guys, I'm new to the G1. I just picked a used one up the other day to use over seas. I reset the phone not knowing I need a SIM in there to actually use it. I don't have access to a SIM card currently, but I will have one when I go over seas. Will the phone unlock so I can root it with a SIM card from a different carrier? Or do I need to have a TMobile one in there? My plan leaves tomorrow early morning, so I'm kind of in a bind when it comes to solving my phone issues.

Oops, I thought I posted in General.
The sim card from n e where will work for the rooting process so don't stress that. These instructions will get u n to the phone with out the sim card. http://theunlockr.com/2010/01/10/how-to-activate-the-g1-without-a-data-plan-or-sim-card/

If the phone is locked , you need to get it unlocked first....otherwise it wont use any other network sim other than t-mobile.
The easiest way to unlock it is to call t-mobile and ask them for unlock code by giving them IMEI number of the phone (can be found in the MENU--->SETTINGS---->ABOUT PHONE----->IMEI NUMBER)
They provide the unlock code for free.
Once you have it unlocked, then whatever sim you insert, you will be asked to enter the unlock code. Enter that code and phone will start using that sim.
If you dont get it unlocked here from T-mobile then get it unlocked from the country where you are going...but the charges and success rate of unlocking depends on which country you are going to.....it is very easy and cheap in South Asia like India and Pakistan.....but difficult in Middle East.....
So the best alternative might be to buy a cheap GSM phone there and sell it when you return here.
Have a happy and safe journey
Thanks for the help everyone. Unfortunately, Tmobile couldn't give me an unlock code since I'm not their customer. I've got some more digging to do. I came across some sites offering the code for a fee, are they legit? I just don't understand how they get the code when I can't.
Go to ebay and buy it. for abt $6.49, they will give the code to you. I unlocked mine via ebay... Try any seller.
Based on timezone, buy from US seller or your local seller to get it quick.
Like for US try http://cgi.ebay.com/UNLOCK-CODE-T-M...025?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e5f205f99
Make sure u provide them your IMEI code.. dial *#06# Or look under battery.
i sent cbw an email with the intent to obtain the sim unlock code for my milestone, based off a post on their facebook page. here is the email i sent to them:
while perusing your facebook page i find a gentleman named ___ that posted this:
"Does Cincinnati Bell have the unlock code for the Blaze? I may be traveling internationally soon and would like to use other carriers' SIM cards when overseas."
your response was:
"Hi ___- Email us your wireless # and IMEI to [email protected] Thanks!"
i called a few months ago for the EXACT same reason and was denied unlocking my milestone xt720. how can this be rectified? i also travel abroad and would like to have the phone THAT I PAID FOR unlocked as to be able to use other sim cards.

ive called motorola and they told me that the CARRIERS are the ones that have the unlock codes. who is lying (my guess - cbw) and how am i supposed to unlock this thing?
I think carriers should have it but I could be wrong. When I wanted to unlock my old phone from Wind (my carrier) I called them up and they gave the code to me.
I would try calling up CBW and speaking to a different person. The one who replied to you could just be confused.
The unlock is not part of the firmware, it is held much deeper in the phone. I would tend to believe the carrier and assume that the manufacturer would be able to unlock this phone. I really hope I am wrong though, for your sake.
Hi usually you have to be like 6 months+ and some time up 9 months into contract.

One of the things that Dexter does to his ROMs that I haven't figured out yet is that he moves /system/etc/motorola/bp_nvm_default/sim_lock_init to /system/etc/motorola/sim_lock_init. I do know that /system/etc/motorola/bp_nvm_default is part of the baseband system and I also know that not all of Motorola's XT720 ROMs have sim_lock_init (in fact of the 9 XT720 sbf's I've collected only CBW's sbf has it, both Korean ROMs both have it). I don't have a non-CBW SIM, so I don't know if that does anything and Google hasn't really been much help to me on that. If you have a non-CBW SIM, maybe you can try using one of Dexter's ROMs and see if it is actually SIM locked or not. I honestly have no idea, though. I do know that I flashed the UK sbf once and it refused to let me use the phone unless there was a SIM present (but it accepted my CBW SIM--I have two XT720 now but only one sim). The CBW and Korean sbfs on the other hand let you use the phone without a SIM. Maybe that's what that file is about. I'm mostly clueless about the baseband and SIMs. But hey, it has "sim" and "lock" in the filename .
Do you still need an unlock code? I can get you one for this one for $14.99. They do come from Motorola and not Cincinnati Bell and the codes are not cheap like other phones.
Way to dig up a thread from 5 months ago. Not sure I want to send someone $14.99 for an unlock code in Thailand when I can go to corner store and they can unlock it face-to-face. Plus signature favors LG phones.
Seems like a Google search for "Help me unlock my phone" came up with this thread and probably many others to blanket post in them all. Dare I say.......Pimping your services?

No, not at all. Just trying to help a fellow XDA member. I offered the code at my cost with PayPal fee included. At this price I make nothing.
Also, getting your phone unlocked at a local shop is dangerous. Often these shops use special software and hardware clips that unlock your phone by patching the baseband code, which can result in a damaged or bricked device. Also when the phone is unlocked by a firmware patch such as this the phone can no longer get OTA updates as the baseband code will no longer pass a validation check (MD5) during the update process.
Unlocking remotely by IMEI is much safer. Remote unlocking servers, such as the ones we subscribe to, retrieve the unlock codes directly from the manufacturers databases that the carriers use. By entering the unlock code assigned to the phone at the factory at the time of manufacturer is the only safe way to unlock a phone. Once you enter the code the phone is unlocked permanently with no potential for damage. Plus the phone can still get OTA updates as the baseband code remains untouched.
Go ahead. Let some hack at a local shop damage your phone by patching the baseband code. Great idea, not!
So I've done a large amount of searching, not only on XDA but elsewhere to find a real 'answer' to my question, but I haven't found anything concrete, hence this thread.
I have aquired a Droid 2 Global from VZW for free, and I want to use it with my US ATT SIM, on the US ATT GSM Network.
Things i have done:
- Flashed the phone to the stock OS in order to....
- Flash the radio so it accepts ATT GSM signal
- Aquired the sim unlock code from ATT for my current phone/sim (I'm unclear on exactly what this whole sim unlock process is about, perhaps why I'm asking)
The phone boots, but when I have my SIM inserted, it asks for the unlock code.... What exactly IS it asking for?
The SIM unlock that I recieved from ATT doesn't work.. (I assume this is the unlock for my sim, in my current phone?)
What is the next step, if this is possible? I've looked at getting the phone unlock code via ebay, or one of the piggyback devices like TurboSIM, but I'm unsure what will work, if anything will work?
Help??
Thanks in advance for any info provided

Well, since I'm at ATT customer, how would I go about getting this code? I do have a friend that works for VZW, which is how i got the phone, and he is willing to assist me. Can he provide it?
The phone must be on an active line of service, and the billing history must be clean for the past 6 months.
If your friend works for Global Support, then maybe. If not, I doubt it.
Hmph..
I guess I overestimated the difficulty of getting this to work. It was just another case of having to get the unlock code from the phone itself via IMEI number, and yahtzee, working as I had hoped.
For some reason I had the notion that it was significantly more difficult after reading all of the posts about trying to get other SIMs to work.. but its actually very very straight forward and easy.. it just seemed that nobody had ever really made it clear that a US ATT sim could work on a VZW D2G handset with US ATT service.
Thanks for your input!
