I have the xoom wireless (no 3g, etc). I want to load the phone.apk from the system/app folder, but it trys to install "replace application" it barks at me and says app not installed.
is there a trick to load the dial pad on this? Or is there another dial pad to use that is free and simple. Working on a project to dial with wifi.
Thanks!

I have about 4 access points in my area. I would like to set my HTC / ATT PURE to connect to MY access point by default (i.e. the preferred Access point). but it seems like it will only connect when I go into comm manager and select my SSID. once I do that everything works fine. How do I make my access point the default one (and autoconnect) when it's within range?
WIFI Applet?
Anyone know of any wi-fi app that would work to select a preferred access point when near it? it would also be nice if the system would send/receive e-mail, etc when in range of the preferred access point.
Shareware or retail would be fine, if anyone has any ideas.
Do you have also access to the other hotspots? Or is it just your neighbours..? In theory, your device should automatically connect only to the access points that have already been successfully accessed. That's what happens to me when I move from house-office-friends-etc..if it's a "already connected" place, then it recognises it immediately and connects. I get sometimes notifications about new networks, but i just dismiss them
I have gone to Starbucks and can connect to those hotspots, but it seems I actually have to click on them for the green check mark to appear near the Accesspoint on the phone.
I don't have access to any of the other wireless access points in my hood. so I would think it should auto-connect to mine, but it doesn't. I have to click on it, before it will appear with a green check mark. Once I do that I can tell the phone switches to wifi instead off ATT media net. I have unlimited data plan so it's not a big deal. just a bit annoying...
Any thoughts?
Hi all
I have an eee Pad 3G (TF101G) and a prepaid SIM. One option to top-up the SIM is by dialing a "special" number (#100*1*4#). This connects to a 3rd party that automatically bills my PayPal and debit my account. It is a similar operation as querying a device's IMEI.
The problem is: the TF101G does not have a dialer app. There is no way I can query the IMEI or top-up my prepaid with this technique.
Can anybody suggest a dialer app, or similar?
Note: I know how to get the IMEI, I'm just using it as an example. And I also don't care for other methods of toping up my prepaid.
Thanks!
See if you can download dialer one from the market that might work, although not sure how you would dial out. You could try grove ip and google talk not sure if that would works that would would give you access to dialing out. Not sure though if you could fill the prepaid sim that way, it would be worth a try though.
I don't think you can since the TF 3G will only have internet functions and no phone capabilities.
hi im using att titan unlocked, but im having problems with internet,i can see E (edge),im on simple mobile unimited plan and its so easy to set up data for simple mobile because apn is just "simple" and there is no other settings and every time after saving apn when i try to go to internet browser trying to connect to this adress :
http://androidapi.t-mobile.com/apppack/mvno.html
i know this is tmobile adress and i know simple mobile running on tmobile network but this is not the first branded unlocked phone which im using on simple mobile and i know im getting 2g im fine with that, can someone point me what to do?i try also to change some settings in native browser but there is nothing there, also every time i boot the phone it ask for unlocking code which i allready did use.. im fine even with this just need help for internet thanks
First suggestion: run Connection Setup app (from HTC Apps section in the Marketplace). If needed, you can install it using a PC.
Second suggestion: Try connecting over WiFi instead of cellular data; do you see the same weirdness?
Third suggestion: Call your operator (Simple Mobile) and ask them for help.
WiFi works just fine, when I call provider they say same things that I already did it,and about connection set up I don't have that app in HTC titan also I can't find it in market place fuf what next?

It should be in the HTC section of the market. otherwise search for "HTC" in marketplace. It has to be there. I don't know where you are, but here (germany) the apn for t-mobile internet is "internet.t-mobile". Go to T-mobile website there should be a configurator/help where they can send you a configuration sms
yes i solve problem

2. Go to market and select HTC app. Sign in or create your window live account, select Connection Setup application and install it
3. Go to settings...cellular...turn data connection off
4. If you have a previous apn settings , go to edit and delete it.
5. Open connection set up application, select manuao set up at the bottom rigth pop out menu. Select carrier window and choose Simple Mobile. Press check mark. Press done when it finish it. Exit to home
6. Power off the phone and reboot.
7. After reboot go to wifi and turn it off

Enjoy edge data connection
I just installed the Megatron 1.1.6 and my Huawei E220 + simcard and internet worked immediately through 3G!
Anyone has an idea how you could call with the transformer ? I installed some dialpads, but when I type in a number or chose one from my simcard + push the dial button nothing happens....
Strange, normally you should be able to call with simcard I think, and not skype or something....
I think the tablet lack phone hardware so you're not going to be able to use GSM network for calls.
Try Groove IP, it use a Google Voice number. I've only tried it using WiFi and it work OK.

My 4G Slide has started giving me problems.
1. ANY application which requires internet is not able to connect to the internet - eg. whatsapp or any other app. this problem occurs when im connected via phone network or WiFi. I can however, open up my dolphin browser and browse the web.
2. Phone is not logging call history.

The phone is rooted but runs standard ROM
