Voodoo Control Plus app. Best thing sense sliced bread - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Hey everyone,
If you know anything about Voodoo sound, then you know that it is amazing on the Galaxy S phones.
Well our man Supercurio Made this amazing app that does not rely on a modified Kernel.
It does cost $2. But is well worth supporting his hard work for.
Here ///https://market.android.com/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.controlappdonate&feature=search_result

Ok ordered it and hopefully I am able to make it sound great like I had it on my NS b4!!

Just picked it up myself as well.

Wow that's amazing. Well worth the $2.

Whatta difference i will say!! it is definitely worth the couple of bucks

Question
Being the Noob android user that I am, I have a question. I'm a bit confused if I need anything special on my phone to use this app. My phone is rooted which I believe was one pre-requisite. I would love to help the developer by purchasing this, but want to make sure I'm able to actually use it Being I know nothing yet about sound that came with my device I figured I would ask here first.

All you need is rooted device. If you plug in your headphones and listen to it normally.
Then get this app and enable it. Listen again with it enabled. The sound is way better and can get much louder. Really be careful not to go to loud or you will hurt your ears. ;-)

Does this help with in call volume?

One of the other things to remember. It really helps with recording videos in loud environments.
I have tried to record at concerts and my videos have turned out horribly due to the sound. I tested it out today with the Recording setting on in my car with music blaring and it was amazing how well the audio sounded compared to without this setting on.
#1. I use an FM transmitter from my phone jack to radio, so it improves the sound tremendously.
#2. I record at concerts and this will greatly improve the audio for those videos, it's like night and day.

I know it's a stretch, but can someone post audio samples of BEFORE and AFTER this app?
I stream Pandora from my phone to my car stereo, will it improve the sound that much more?

It's probably hard to tell the difference here. This is only for recording volumes. I did this test as a way to see the difference. I video alot of concerts and the past videos have sucked for audio.
With Voodoo Control Plus (High Quality audio feature checked)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sdLjx9L9W8
Without Voodoo Control Plus
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxKdHhnJgnw
In regards to does it improve the sounds? Yes it does. I use the pandora and the amazon cloud player on my device via an FM transmitter to my car's stereo. Not only can you boost the volume, but it improves the quality of the sound too.
It's definitely worth the 2 bucks in my opinion, if not for the improvements of sound level and quality, then for the ability to record videos in loud environments without it being garbled.

awesome, thanks
toasts doesn't have write access to /system?
little more on this is that it may take a kernel rewrite to get it going. Thats the only way they got it working on the Nexus and it seems our files are similar to theirs. So once we get source I'll defly be looking into that!
Really? The EVO's ring isnt loud enough for you? I was very satisfied.
Really..
Frankly for me the volume has sucked in every HTC phone I have used IMHO. I mean its not horrible or unusable for me or anything..I would like what the max is now to be about the middle..My notifications mostly is what I would like louder.
The speaker phone isnt that great either but ive used HTC phones long enough to be used to it.
Bump. I would really appreciate more info on this, the alarm tones are not loud enough to wake me up. Thanks.

No ROM has write access to /system from within Android. Currently, the only way to do that is through toast's custom recovery.

I've found the audio quality to suck on the EVO... there is a big difference in audio quality between the EVO and the iPhone... it just sounds flat to me. And even with the volumne all the way up it was barely loud enough to hear over a lawn mower.

I have full root (Yay Toast!!) now so I tried volume hack 3.6. I backed up my stock files first and then tried the 3.6 + everything mode, but it doesn't seem to work...unless the difference is not that dramatic. I also tried the 3.3 files, but same thing.
Anyway, the app indicates it doesn't work on the Nexus and several others so maybe the Evo is included in that. Give a try and let me know if it works for you.
Crap I hope someone works this out. The fm app is really low when on speaker

G2x volume seems low

Did anyone else notice that when the volume is anything other than full blast the volume seems very low?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
I notice it on gingerbread ROMs but stock seems fine to me.
Have you tried turning on DTS mobile in the music player? After I enabled it I noticed a boost in volume across all applications but in general I do feel the volume is rather low. It seems perfectly loud during speakerphone calls but not so loud during some other activities. I kind of feel like it varies from program to program, some seem loud while others don't. For instance Youtube videos seem to have a veeery low volume while Angry Birds is loud as hell.
I just turned on dts today while listening to music. See how that goes.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
DTS only works for the stock apps. There is an app. in the market called volume+ (Sound Boost) for .99, I think, or you can get it for free from his website. It tells you the link to his site in the about app. part. It only works on GB roms though.
I'm using it and can finally hear the music when using Last.fm etc.
The EQ part doesn't work very well on the GB leak though.
I was about to post a question relating to this. Im just coming from ATT Captivate, and always used AUX jack plugged into stereo in my truck. With my Cappy, I used PowerAmp music player paired with either Voodoo, or AudioBoost if the ROM for the day didnt have Voodoo.
I tried that Volume Boost today with the G2x. Not even close to what I expected. AudioBoost dev emailed me and told me that that app is only good for SGS family, so Im in desperate need of a booster for headphone jack. Ideas?
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk
when using the phone its very low and speakerphone is so quiet you have to hold the phone right next to your ear
the bluetooth does the same thing
im using the gingerbread leak but changing roms to see if its phone related or rom related
I find the volume to be low when using bluetooth. Anyway to boost it?
I agree with the volume being really low. It is for some applications and others its fine, but overall its too low. Does anyone know of a volume mod we can do?
yeah it seems very low, what i did to fix this problem was use volume+ allows you to increase4 volume on speaker, headphones as well as bluetooth headsets now i only have to run the volume at 1/2 the volume to make it loud instead of all the way up and it still being low
in ORIGINAL 2.2 ROM, sound NOT LOW AT ALL !
if you flashed another 2.3.x rom , there sound driver not optimize yet...
Wait official update.
Yeah, I'm running stock all the way, and the speaker volume is where I have issues. I literally can't watch YouTube or really use it as a speakerphone as I have to hold it right to my ear to hear.
I got the wife a MT4G at the same time, and her speaker blows mine away.

I have yet to even root my G2X, 100% stock. Volume and sound quality just sucks on this device. The 1 speaker is not good at all from my experience. I've had several BB's that were way way better with quality and volume clarity.
If you do push the volume all the way up, it gets very distorted, no matter what quality media I'm using and especially with DTS enabled.
No deal breaker for me though.....I don't buy phones to use as a beatbox or watch movies I have a home theater for that purpose
I use this application called PowerAMP and it has a preset for your phone to play music through Speakerphone mode, and it is loud!. You can definitely hear the difference, even if I listen to music through a headset.

[Q] Low music volume on earphones Galaxy S2

Hi,
Just converted to android from iphone.
When listening to music via earphones, im noticing the volume isnt that loud even when ive turned it up to the max (15).
Ive seen other posts explaining how to get into service mode and amend some volume settings, but this only applies to in call volume. Im looking to increase the volume when listening to music.
The current volume is def too low.
Bump.. Need help!
Using sennheiser cx180, getting amazing sound quality
any fix for this yet? really annoying!
bump
that makes two of us now. please someone nut this out
Bump. Same problem
Same problem here.
And another one here with same problem.
When I increase "Media volume" it only increases volume until it gets to about 50% on the bar, after that nothing happens when I continue to raise it to a full bar.
Bump same problem here, up full its about 3/4 the volume of my iPhone, its fine in quiet environments but and ambient noise at all and you hear it over this. Its just one of the many frustrations of this phone when it comes to music. Seriously thinking about eBaying it,
Cyanogen and MIUI teams are looking into porting their ROMs to the Galaxy S 2. That should fix everything
Hey guys is there a fix for this yet?? I am running lite'ning Rom and even before this the volume from music through the headset is so so low!!! In ambiant places like the bus or walking through the city u can forget talking to anyone or listening to music!!!
Is there anything that can boost it??? On my old iphone when i jailbreaked it i got an app that mad it very loud that i could not put it On full lol... Pls guys if anything please reply!!!! :-(
Anyone with any solotion to this please??? its the only real fault with the phone

Hey, I had the same problem with my unlocked Galaxy S II, The volume would not go up even at 15, same level of sound on all numbers. All I did was reboot it and now it works fine. you should try it too
seriously this is the phone that is apparently the 'best of 2011', yet it has such a huge glaring bug like this? To shock new buyers who were told this phone was great?
This is a dealbreaker. Volume on a phone matters. Why hasn't a solution been offered, or rather why is this such a concealed ill-discussed problem?
I don't think it's quite a bug or Samsung's fault. I've been using original Ipod earbuds from the Apple Store and they work like a charm. But when I try to use some sony headset, the sound is all noisy and it's quality sucks. I think that there may be a problem like drivers or something on how the signial is sent to the terminal.

I shouldn't have to root and mod my phone to be able to hear a call on the street or to listen to music. Which isn't a solution anyway.

Think right now that is about all that you will get w/o hardware hacks or something directly from Samsung.
I use Voodoo Control App on my GS1 with a Voodoo kernel and it works like a charm.
Voodoo + PowerAmp + Bose in-ears = Pure Sonic Enjoyment.
There are from what i know a few fixes for this (i think)
If you are running Cyanogenmod7.1 you have the DSP Equalizer that helps to boost the volume of your device.
Ive heard of a App on the market Called Volume plus (never used it but from searching on the internet ive heard of this)
And then if you are using Power Amp you can have full control of adjusting volume through the settings in the music player

I think I may have discovered a fix for the audio issues...

So ever since I got this phone, I've been dissatisfied with the audio quality. No matter what I did, no matter which equalizer I tried, the sound was too low, too muffled, and just plain BAD. I bought a new bluetooth car stereo this week & I haven't even been able to enjoy it that much cause the streaming audio sounds like ear-rape. Tonight I was messing around with Bloat Freezer and I noticed a system app on the list called "Music enhancer". I wondered if this had anything to do with the craptastic audio quality, so I decided to freeze it & see what happened. To my joy, my music now sounds FAR better! It's like night & day, no more crackling, no more muffled audio
I dunno if anyone else is having problems with audio of if this little trick has already been discovered, but I figured I'd share with the class either way. Don't forget to hit that thanks button if I've helped you out
EDIT: You must be temp-rooted to do this.

Unfortunately, this way won't keep it turned off for long, it'll eventually restart. The only way to really "kill" apps until we get real root is to temp root & freeze them.

I'm playing music. I haven't noticed much difference with ringtones. I really dunno if this tweak will work for everyone, YMMV, but hopefully now that we have some clues we can delve a bit deeper into this issue. One thing that you might try though, is disabling it via ADB. I've noticed that some frozen apps don't get totally frozen unless you do it with ADB.
Froze it using Titanium Backup. Testing now.
OP - in the HTC Music app, Settings > Sound Enhancer, did you have that set to "None"?
I do and the sound on my phone is quite good, without your procedure.
I actually find that the Music Enhancer HELPS my audio quality. Without it, its like listening to music with the headphones sitting on a table in front of me rather than on my ears...
I guess I am just lucky? I have none of the problems that others have been reporting...All except for one big one...DUST UNDER THE SCREEN! (Im on the 2nd phone too!)

This Android stuff takes some getting used to.
The only thing I'm finding is that I have to kill the app' again when I restart the phone, otherwise it does seem to make a difference.
Always get a clicking sound when audio starts regardless of the source with and without this fix.
Just like my Nexus 1, this phone has crap audio quality over headphones and on the speaker. not to mention the mic. HTC seems to always cheap out on these components, my Nexus S was FAAAR superior in this regard. Although I sold it for the bigger screen, and more powerful processor.
Wish there was a way to restore a backup of DSP Manager. I've tried with TB, but the restore option is not available.

[Q] Need Another Earphone...

Hi Everyone,
I have been using SGS for over 9 months now. And i dont find the earphone to be too flexible. I was using the N73 before and the earphone was not good in sound quality but did have some cool features. I expected the SGS (being more expensive and a nice smartphone) to have the same capabilities as that one. The N73 headset could receive calls and also change music like skip to the next track or go to the previous track and start and stop music and increase decrease volume. I becomes a pain when you have to take out the phone and change the song or increase/decrease the volume. Plus cant receive the calls as well with the headset!
Are there any headphone made for SGS in which i can get all these features? Please advice!
