[Q] Defaulting screen to be flipped? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys - I have the Kevikev case, and as we all know the device is upside down the case. With that being said: Can you make my default screen orientation to be flipped? Before you say flip and and lock it, I do not want to do that, I still would like to take advantage of being able to go to portrait too. Wondering if there is a hack or a command I can run that will make my XOOM default be upside down?
Thanks.

I posted a comment on your review of the case in the other thread.....the case isn't upside down. You're holding it upside down. When you fold the front around to the back and insert it into that slot, the short side is the bottom and not the back. It doesn't give the greatest angle for typing, but you're supposed to stand it up on the short end.

Could you please tell me what you mean by the case is upside down? isntthe front facing camera SUPPOSE to be out the top in landscape mode? im reffering to when you have it the video call stand position.. if the xoom was inserted the other way the camera would then be pointed at your chest. thus it is not backwards. why are we not placing blame where it belongs? the auto rotation lags not the fault of the case thats a system issue that hopefully will be fixed along with all the badly needed updates we all are sooooooooo in need of

X7510 Touch Screen Problem

I faced a problem with my X7510 touch screen last week, when I was using the program,Notes(in Landscape Mode).
As you see in the picture below, the touch screen doesn't work in a narrow strip in the left side of the screen.(about 3 centimeters)
When I reported this problem to HTC-Company,they told me that all X7510s with original Rom have this problem.
I would appreciate if anyone can test this and inform me about the result.Note that I am using the X7510's original ROM.(sorry for my bad English!!)

My Friend,
They just lied to you straight forward. Mine works just fine. Here are the original pictures in bitmap format. I will convert them to jpeg and post them here.
Here are the jpeg pictures:
As you can see. they work just fine either HORIZONTAL or VERTICAL.
Make sure you send them copies of these pictures and send them a copy or link of this thread. Smear it to their faces.
If the problem is only found in one application (Notes), then the problem is not your screen. It is probably due to a conflict with one of your application.
On my O2 XDA Flint with the OS Build 5.2.19217 (19217.1.0.6) I see something similar.
In landscape mode, in Notes/Drawing mode, there is a lag when drawing in the space you mention in the left margin, though it does draw after a delay of about 0.5 seconds.
Typing is not affected

Case Vs Cradle

I want a case , or a rubber encasing perhaps (just waiting to see all the accessories once this goes global) BUT I love the idea of a cradle..
If I were to give you one.. which would you choose? I want both but it isn't really feasible hey..
The case no need for a dock yeett ....
I wonder is the front and back for the galaxy S easily exchange able ?
I got a silicone case on ebay for <$3us. I know it might stretch if I'm not careful, but it would let you keep your phone safe without precluding a cradle.
Check out these. I bet you could think of something better.

The back is just a piece of plastic, you just pop it off with your finger, nothing fancy at all. I fully expect a wide variety of cheap replacement backs for this phone in a very short period of time. That is why I am not worrying about scratching the back much, just the screen.

If anyone gets this, please report back, I'm only interested due to the backing/kickstand. I dislike the front, screen cover. The link provides some pictures, even more can be found here: http://www.bb.co.kr/main/model/model.php?model_id=2373993&qword=SHW-M110s

There are two different models in the pic I posted - the kick-stand version doesn't come with the fold over screen cover

So, you know how Sense doesnt do landscape?

On the home screen and app drawer, at least. Well, my dad has a stock hero and he left it on top of his car and drove off. It slid off the back, broke out of its otterbox and exploded in a bunch of pieces. He found them all and nothing broke.
BUT! Now sense rotates into landscape on the home and app screens when the phone is turned sideways. How does a big fall remove what was thought to be a software limitation?
Picture or it didn't happen...
Gladly.

Sorry for the quality. Lighting isn't so good in my room.
That's interesting...
Landscape layouts ARE available in some versions of Rosie (since the 2.1 update, which I see you have), theory is that this was in expectancy of a landscape Rosie which eventually came in the form of the Desire Z. When this build was ported to the Dream, which had an HW keyboard, opening the keyboard would also give you that landscape view.
What's interesting is that the breakage somehow triggered landscape to be enabled. There's two ways for an application to change orientation; nicely by allowing sensor rotation in Android_Manifest.xml, and forcibly by having an HW keyboard (or whatever it's trigger is) which will send the Landscape view request to the OS without needing the sensor orientation.
Most apps use "sensor" or "nosensor" for orientation purposes, few use "portrait" and "landscape" to force the app to stay in a certain orientation. Rosie is programmed for "nosensor" since the devices that used it up to that point were supposed to lack the kb-open trigger.
I wonder which piece inside the hero it is that "moved" and is reporting an open keyboard when orientation is changed... weird indeed...
Yeah who knows, I guess it just got tricked into thinking its always in text input mode and rotates freely. I didn't know any phone running sense could do that, so its good to know it at least isn't a one time deal.
BTW, I wasn't doubting you...I just really wanted to see pictures
That is hilarious...does it "scroll" then, as I see some icons are cut off?
That's pretty cool. Does it take forever to rotate like it did on the g1?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Right, the icon placement isn't quite right but it does scroll side to side, and the app drawer scrolls. And no, it rotates very quickly actually.
Watch bicentenial man then find your phone some drift wood and wait for it to make you a fortune

Front camera not aligned properly in phone. Anyone else?

I know this seems like a pretty small thing to be concerned about, but I just wanted to ask if anyone else has this issue or if they have resolved it. The front camera on my nexus 5 is not aligned properly when looking at the lens through the opening in the glass.

It doesn't affect pictures taken with the camera but it is off centered so much the lens is almost partially hidden and it is very noticeable. At first I thought I could live with it but I had some free time and just for fun decided to open it up and see if I could move the camera at all and I found that the whole board/bracket that the camera mounts to is out of alignment and am now wondering if that is something to worry about.
I also have a slightly loose power button and wonder if maybe the board being out of alignment could be the cause of that as well. Other than the power button and the front camera I have not noticed any other ill effects. Anyone else have this issue or input?

If you want to worry..knock yourself out.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Ocd?
Your ocd is freaking you out? Maybe you should send it back to Google to fix that but it's a waste of time, and about the power button I have the same problem and you can solve it putting a little piece of paper between the button and the eboard
I'm definitely not feeling that worried about it. Like I said, everything seems to be working fine and I only bothered to open it up because I was bored and I thought it would be a fun project. I was mostly just surprised to see that the whole board inside the phone was out of alignment and not just the camera and was curious as to whether or not this was common. I did end up wedging some paper in between the power button and it seems to have alleviated that problem. As for the camera, it's a shame it doesn't seem I can fix it but I don't think it will really bother me.

[Q] LCD Glass unsticking

I have had the nexus 5 for about 6 months now, and i'm starting to notice a part of the glass coming off. The area around the volume buttons to the center of the screen makes a sticking sound when pushed down on, and i can feel it pushing in a little bit. It's most noticeable on the edge directly next to the volume buttons. There are no visible cracks as far as i can tell. Phone works fine besides this. Should I be worried and replace the screen or just let it be? I don't notice it if i don't push down too hard.
Never had this happen to me on a phone before. Thanks!
That definitely shouldn't be happening.

It's not very visible and pictures don't show the problem.
It feels like the glue in that area is just dried up in that area and isn't holding down the screen correctly. but its only a small area so right now its not too big of a deal.

Ask for google support, they will replace it. Mine was losing the back cover letters and google replaced it
Hi all. Wasn't sure if I should reply to this old thread or start my own...
I have a Nexus 5 that's over 2 years old. So no warranty. It looks like my screen is starting to come off in the bottom right corner. I think it's just the glass. Take a look at the attached pic/video and let me know what you think I could/should do. You can see I can move it by pressing on it.

It works fine otherwise. Touch/display etc seems all fine. I don't care about this problem if it stays as-is, but I'm worried it will get worse and come off further.
I'm thinking a bit of super glue would do? .
Thinking the sameā€¦
