I need help my battery life is terrible and I don't know how to fix. I have a battery information app and the battery chart drops.

Try to be patient, I'm a little new. But here's what I know.

My display takes 93% but my brightness is all the way down and my signal is always pretty strong.

Im guessing your one the stock at&t froyo. Think about going into the captivate android development section and flash a custom rom. They seem to provide better battery life and are much better than what came with this phone.

You can also disable wifi, bluetooth, and GPS when not in use - that should help.
In my experience the fastest way to better battery life is flash a new kernel. speedmod-kernel-i897-k13e is very stable. Also turn off auto-rotate and auto brightness.
A big battery killer for me is background data and auto sync, I leave it all off, along with the stuff every one else said.
Also, try calibrating your battery.
The only thing I've done to my phone is root. And I've turned off all the auto stuff, I have no idea how to "flash the rom" or anything else.

If your display takes up 93% of battery that's usually a good sign, it means that there's probably nothing in the background sucking up all the juice. Have you tried "bump charging" or replacing the battery? They do tend to go bad or lose calibration if you've overheated them one too many times.
Whenever I charge my phone it seems to get extremely hot. The battery app said like 115° to 120°

Try Juice Defender in the Android Market, made a big different for me.
In my experience Froyo roms have all been garbage battery life *first leak, stock, Perception, Cognition, SuperNova, Phoenix Unleashed* I could never get more then 10 hours on the battery and less with wifi on. Now with GB *perception 2 beta 3*, I get 18 hours with Bluetooth on, Background Sync On, under H *3G*, and the original battery that came with the phone. I am putting up with some of the issues that 2.3.3 has but to me I cannot go back to froyo as my battery life has never been this good Including with jf6 2.1 that originally shipped with my phone.

While that may be the case, it doesn't always provide for the best signal. You have to test each one and see what works best for your area/situation.
Your battery temp seems very high. You may want to swap the battery before trying other things. Is the phone new? If so, At&t store should agree to swap it out for you.

I turn my g2x off when I go to bed, the battery is fully charged and 8 hours later when I turn it back on the battery is allmost empty !what is wrong here?

Quite possibly a bad battery. Your battery shouldn't drain when the phone is off.

you should download a cm7 nightly my battery lasted from 10pm - 9am with 30% than i put it to charge
You can either do a factory reset or NVFlash CWM and flash a ROM to see if that fixes things. If not, then defective battery.
What these guys are saying is most likely, especially with that kind of drain. But also make sure you don't have any crummy apps, it apps that run when your phones off. Ex. Some weather apps run in the background and draindrain

You guys. He said that his phone was OFF while the battery lost its juice. It has NOTHING to do with what ROM, KERNEL etc etc he is using. Now for the op; simply just get a new battery and check if the problem persists.

Try the same test with the battery completely removed.
If it doesn't drain that fast - Then the phone is not shutting down properly, and most likely is the result of a nasty app.
If it does still drain that fast - Then the battery is probably faulty.

What could be a bad app?
I read above a wheather app, any other idea what I can.look at? Had the battery out over night and no drain!

In your original post when you said you turn the phone off at night, you do mean actually turning it off right? Like shutting it down and not just turning the screen off, right? Just making sure we're all on the same page. If the phone is powered down then it can't be an app because apps can only run when you're booted into Android.

I would try to eliminate apps one by one. Freezing them with titanium backup or using better battery stats to see which apps have a lot of wakelocks. I had the same issue before.

Then its the battery. I had the problem with my g1. I would load the maps and use gps. It would say my battery is around 70% then after like 5mins the phone would get hot and then it would say i was at 30% or lower. Swap out for a new battery and it didnt do that anymore.
My g2x is kinda doing the same thing. But its a little slower. I turn the phone on in the morning 100% battery. Then use it for about an hr. (95-80%battery) put it in my pocket. Then about 2hrs later it at 40-35%. And the phone feels warm.
Also check your battery to see if it had a lump on it. If so then its a bad battery and needs to be replaced asap.
I ordered a replacement on ebay should be here by next weekend. Only $4

I had a problem like this and still do at times. Part of it was the stock kernel I was running and the other part was the fact that the phone was not fully going into the low power state it was supposed to. I now only loose about 5 to 7% in the worst cases. That is better than the 20 to 30% I was loosing before.
Does anybody know where I could find a proper reliable battery for the g2x?
I don't care if it is regular capacity or extended, as long as it fits using the original battery casing. Maybe prodicell?

Battery Stats only shows you what apps/services have been using your battery... it has nothing to do with it storing any type of information about the min/max capacity or charge your battery has...
Anyone know where I can get an Anker slim battery for the G2x? I can't take too much more of 5 hours on mostly standby :banghead:

Haha nope not quite we mean like tap the "screen" entry so we can see how many hours of screen-on time you've had, and also possibly tap the usage graph then it shows when your phone was awake, when WiFi was on/off, when it was charging etc.

As much as I do like the phone. I'm quite annoyed at the battery life and am thinking of ways to improve it and etc. but it doesn't seem to be working. I get like 8 hours and by then it's at 30% MAX. Usually around like 20 or so. 10 hours and it's pretty much dead. Am I doing something wrong? my screen is only on for about an hour and a half or so, maybe 2 hours. Lowest brightness setting, 4g off, 2g on, wifi on.. that's about it. I mean as much as I love HTC, I can't love this battery life...

Yes you're doing something wrong or have a faulty unit. Make sure you flash a good ROM (I'm using aokp) and that's it. I have my screen at about 25% brightness and here are my stats which is quite acceptable.

I have freezed so much default htc and adroid crapp apps with Titanium backup. It differs a lot! Also a lot of system apps i dont use.

@devgee Lol wow 5hr37min screen and almost 10hrs thats quite impressive, all things considered hang on how is your phone still ON at 1% not charging? Mine shuts down at 4% generally...unless I charge it till 7% and unplug, then it runs to 0% before powering down?

Might be the 1% battery mod which has been added to the viper Rom (Don't know really)
I was too surprised when it was 1%
Usually it shuts down at 3% or 4%!

Well this is what I got.
This was back on CM. That rom game amazing batt life.
I don't have the screen time pic but it was just over 4 hours. Still had 1/5 of the battery left too! With this phone I just leave gps, wifi, antenna and sync on. It's so rare for me to NOT last a full day that I see no point in being conservative about use anymore.

So i recently ordered an extended battery from tmart.com that came with a black plastic battery cover. After i fully charged the battery and gave it a try to see how long it would last me and im pretty surprised with the results i got. I had double the battery life that i would usually get from my original battery. For being such a cheap price for the battery i think its worth it, The only thing i didnt like was the feel of the battery cover because i always have my phone case on. ( My phone likes to slip out of my hands.) Other than that its pretty good deal.

That's on WiFi? Then my friend u need to look into wake locks. Even if you're running bone stock rom on WiFi I can get the exact same battery numbers on an 1800 mAh battery.
You fix those and you're battery will go up to 5-6 hours screen on time, 30 hours standby

Yeah i know i was just messing with the rom im currently on i was gonna be doing a fresh install in a few, ill upload more pics when i get better results. and trust me i do hunt wakelocks lol, but like i said i was messing around with the rom im on right now and i had barely gotten then battery not that long ago.

I have this battery. With stock battery it didn't last the workday w/o going dead. Now it goes from waking up to going to bed with some to spare. LTE all day and online 24/7...

I actually got good battery life on the stock ROMs lol, 12ish hours, with all the usuals (fb, insta, gmail, etc.) Maybe it's just me.
Im also using the anker 2200mah though :/
