[APP-Kernels] Kernel Manager released! - Desire HD Android Development

Kernel Manager released! Lite (free): http://tinyw.in/0i8, Pro (cost): Available in the Market...ENJOY!
Hey everyone! I wanted to introduce a new app with a very simple but ambitious goal: create a place where all kernel developers can submit kernels easily and reach a much wider audience with ease.
The app currently does this:
1) Downloads a kernel from our fast and stable teamwin server
2) Unzips the relevant files (modules included)
3) Flashes the kernel
4) Installs the kernel modules
5) Clears cache/dalvik-cache
6) Reboots to apply the changes.
This entire process takes less than a minute, generally, (depending on download speeds of course ), and it is extremely simple for end-users to find a kernel, filter by kernel features (BFS, CFS, HAVS, SBC, etc) download/install kernels, and submit ratings for their favorite kernels.
In order for this to be a success, we need support from kernel developers like YOU! Submitting a kernel to Kernel Manager is totally free and we even provide hosting for you! Right now I'm looking for kernel developers to submit kernels to start populating the app. Submitting kernels is easy!
If you use IRC, join us in freenode in #kernel-manager!
THE LINK IS FOR KERNEL DEVELOPERS SPECIFICALLY! Go to http://kernels.teamw.in and register for an account! Once it's approved, you can easily enter new kernels, which immediately show up in the app. The app will be released in the market, and there will be a free+ad supported version, and a for-cost version that removes the ads.
Right now, we have a specific list of supported phones, but plan to add every nand-unlocked phone as soon as possible. (There are a lot of variables to account for on multiple devices to make sure the process works )
Please feel free to provide me with any feedback you have, or feature requests in order to make this a great tool for all of android to utilize!

This is brilliant! I'm sure many flash addicts would love you for this!

Very nice, this will make flashing kernel easier.. Can't wait to try..

agreed kernels ftw

Might want to make your way over to the inspire 4g forum, too. There are a few kernel devs there.

Where to download it? Great work....

if all kernel devs go on this, it sure would be alot easier for users to find kernels instead of searching alot of threads

Great idea!

Why is that needed for kernel update?
Also, what formats are accepted? Eg boot.img or zImage, etc.

great idea thanks

Great! Many thanks!

So is there any were to download this app then

Ya, can't wait for this.

Really a brilliant idea!

this is a great idea. I used it to flash a new Kernel for CM7.
thx

I posted the official CyanogenMod kernel in Kernel Manager!
So if there aren't any kernel devs who have uploaded their kernels to KM yet, you can at least see the flashing process and if it's something you'd use .
Enjoy!

Why not let developers control the updating and release of their kernels, like ROM Manager does?
I think their decentralised approach is better.
That way, the app can keep on working, no matter whether a single server happens to be up or not.

Kernel developers are in complete control of their own releases. But as far as the cyanogen mod kernels go come out where else are you going to get them in a flashable zip file?

Request to all ROM DEV'S, Please use ROM manager. (Info Inside)

Koush is supplying a great too with ROM Manager
It supports,
-Kitchen like facility
allows a modaco kitchen like setup where the rom can be base and the RM will apply update.zips selected by the user to have a custom rom
-ROM update.zips
-easy to set up for RM
-Generally awsome
If the majority of XDA ROM devs used this would make everything much easier and make roms much easier to navigate...
at the minute we rely on a lot of forum threads that people have to trawl through?
Is this really the best way?
Continue to have ROM's available on the forum but it is much better to use for buy reporting etc.
This would also reduce the need to check forums constantly for updates as updates would be notified by RM
Just imagine
Alternativley if your lazy please provide QR codes for your download links.
Using this tool QR Generator
Thanks to Koush for this tool.

A developer doesn't actually even need the premium version for a developer to add a ROM.

Hi guys! Setting up ROMs on ROM Manager is really easy!
http://www.koushikdutta.com/2010/03/rom-manager-and-third-party-roms.html
But if you don't want to go through that super easy process, simply provide a QR code to the download, and people can install a ROM just by snapping a picture!

The sticky at the top of this forum!
the fake-flash thread is koush's
and it has free updates
maybe it should be free for devs to upload there rom. Now they have to buy the app to be allowed to upload a rom. I don't think that will work.

Congrats on a great app!! Seems great to work with Rom Manager as well, as now you can check both for upgrades. Good job!

Sweet! Can't wait to see some Hero kernels here.
I don't say too much on here. But! Wrong area to post, should be in apps. And kinda T'ed, hero not supported? Boo.
Hero for now EVO3D day it's out! Thanks devs for all the hard work on my hero.
Yeah, no Kernels so far for the Hero I hope I don't regret buying the pro version. I'm not due for an upgrade for a little while.
Edit: Oops, I meant to say 'change' not 'upgrade'. Pretty sure this hero will always be my favorite phone lol.

U don't really need to install seperate kernals anyway 99.9.% of the time the kernal cooked into The Rom is the best one unless its uncaped and your hero can't handle higher speeds the app is kind of pointless if u ask me

I totally disagree. Yes this is an app, but it's to install/swap KERNELS, which are most definately "development" and are advanced so to speak, so this is kinda more than a simple "app" that belongs in themes and apps. Jus my 2 pennies.

Yeah, I put it in the android dev forum specifically because the point of the thread is to encourage kernel developers to submit their kernels so that end-users can see/download/flash them a lot easier. I re-worked the later threads I posted about it in other forums to be more dev-centric .

Which CyanogenMod build does the kernel correspond to, e.g., CM7 Final, Nightly 39, etc (not even sure when the last commits were made to our kernel)?

Hero CM kernel hasn't had any changes for a while. Almost all of the builds should have the same one.
I'd rather not focus if this is in the right forum or not! but I choose to congratulate the dev of this app!
Very well thought out! and keep up the great work! I will download and try it out next time I want to flash a different ROM.

[ROM][STABLE][UNOFFICIAL] Oxygen ROM 2.3.2 (Android 2.3.7)

Well hello!
Please read this post regarding the development of the rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29811287#post29811287
This is my attempt to port oxygen rom (and i think i've done a pretty good job) on our lgp500.
Please remember this: anything that is written here or in the unwritten law of common sense can and will be ignored.
Now let's get to the facts:
Oxygen ROM is a highly optimized AOSP rom with only a few added features. I also intend to keep it that way. There will be no added features unless the good people from Oxygen want to add them. The rom is like this for a reason. So requests like "can you add theme manager?", "can it make me coffee?" will be ignored.
This ROM is now for new baseband only (as of v2.2). I see people on this forum have a hard time understanding this so i'll write it again. This ROM is for new baseband only.
No need to flash GAPPS now... included in zip file
There is no need for screenshots since this is basically AOSP. So just look around for some AOSP screenshots.
I am not responsible for any damage to your phone. You chose to flash the ROM it's your responsibility.
Now as for how to flash it:
copy to sd->wipe data, cache, dalvik->flash (i flashed with clockworkmod, but might work with others)
No need to flash gapps now... Included in zip

great job, mate. I wish you success with bugs' fixes.
Can I use this ROM for everyday working?
Man pop,this is great dude
BTW,is Oxygen opensource or not?
To answer some questions:
The screenshot problem was already discussed. If you really don't know anything about Oxygen a nice ol' google search would do. Also this is their official website (also found on google) off-topic: i find that google is a great way of finding information, don't you?
As for the .35 kernel i do want to implement it in a future release. I wanted to do it now but there were some big bugs going in terms of graphics with the .35. But i promise it will come in a future release. I also tried building with fserve's gbs kernel(.32) but there was no wireless... so i just kept franco's .32 kernel. Better stable and old than brand spanking new and unstable.
And you can use this for everyday. I use it everyday. I don't use bluetooth that much so i'm good Also, in my case i have better battery life than cyanogenmod. Probably because there are less apps in there.
Also thank you for your kind words everyone.
Thanks for completing knzo dream

[Rom] MADS REWORKED Stock GB V21a (V1.0 Stable)

Welcome to my first rom thread... I noticed that most roms tend to use launchers such as ADW or Launcher Pro, but being a person of simple tastes, I decided to have a go at making my own rom using the stock gingerbread launcher.
This is v1.0 of my rom, its fast, based on the latest (official) v21a release from LG, so far with a few minor (but effective) changes.
REMOVED:
Some (not all yet...) LG bloatware and relevant odex files,
LGHome.apk and LGHome.odex
The default boot animation.
ADDED:
FM Radio... (not tested it as I cant find my headset, but im sure it works >.<)
Android particals (boot animation, GB green),
Root Explorer,
Rom Manager,
The stock GB launcher (launcher2.apk).

INSTALLATION:
For this rom to work, you will need the GB baseband installed (either from the official v21a release or the leaked version from a week or so back).
Unrar the download, and copy to your external SD cards,
/clockworkmod/backup/
Use Rom manager or CWM and wipe all, then restore this pack.
Thoughts and suggestions for future versions welcome
If you like this rom, please hit me up with a thanks, (or buy me a beer ).
im looking forward to this i wanted the stock GB loader lol i like it and i know its not going to be buggy thanks
downloading now,
i cant wait
First post updated with the download link.

I don't need to flash the baseband since this is the Official GB Rom right?
I should of stated in the first post, you need to already have the baseband (either via the official v21a release or the leaked version a week or so back).
Will update the first post now.
Thanks awesome smooth fast and sexy rom.

Root explorer is a payed app, be carefull when including those apps on your future versions, you may have problems. Keep up the work, O3D needs more people interested on developing.

I agree that we should support developers. I was using cydia (during my iPhone age) and using lots of crackwares. But having realised that I am putting the developers down I started buying apps and use only apps legally acquired.

Same. I used to do that during part of my time with the iPhone but not all of it.
And 110% agree with being behind the devs. Without them, we don't get this.... any of it.
Hi madshaun1984
Does skype front/rear camera works with this ROM.
Thanks.
I don't use skype personally on my phone, but I'll see about adding it in my next release, I've got it over-clocked atm, and I'm currently toying with a few other tweaks to see how they work/respond. Will upload what I've got later on today if I get time
Anything else you guys would like to see in this rom? (the over-clock will be implemented, but will be (2 click) easy to disable to if you choose to)
I, for one, would really like to see a ROM with an easy overclock which I could set to my preferred setting. I have been looking at overclocking for the last few weeks but it doesn't look very easy to do as I'm not very used to scripting, etc, just getting into modding my phone these last few months so still a noob really.
Cheers
I think multiupload is down or something, does anyone have another link?
Upload the wallpaper in the screenshot please???
That's all I got to say bout that...

Gonna stick to CM7
so other devs can convert this into a stock Samsung rom by adding full touchwiz and lovely Sammy apps, right ?

Nice job Downloading and going to test when I have some more time
Good Job Marcellusbe
I was hoping this thread would show up soon...
STK Toolkit
Wow, it`s nice ofcource. Tried it by myself - impressing speed, TY. My concern is that all the dev`s want now to have after your`s successful port of CM7 to our phone, CM7 as they`r base ROM. This is not good news for me because SIM toolkit is not working correctly on CM7. Some SIM apps are, some not. I know this is very much depending on CM7 developers but can you add this to some wish list or something for them that we users needs full support of SIM Toolkit on CM7. This is reported by lot of users but I just wanna to have all dev`s attention to app stk.app - this is not an useful app, lot of people need this for everyday life.
Perhaps my first choice here will be ATM a multiboot kernel and I just have to wait and live with that.

yup downloading now...will chk it... obv marc does a gr8 job always
I think I will use this one as a base for DM, becouse cm7 already is a custom rom. If I would pick cm7 I would make a custom rom out of a custom rom We will see The biggest disadvantage is that there are no notification buttons to disable wifi and so on. The advantage is stk

cant you port the CM7 option for the statusbar widgets for your ROM? Kyrillos did something like this with his v9 ROM where he added the enable/disable clock on statusbar tweak... maybe you can do the same
@marcellusbe:
