I have tried everything that I can think of. I have restored to stock twice in Odin. I have tried a couple of different roms. And I have searched this everywhere but I still can't seem to make my sound work. There is no sound whatsoever coming from the external speaker. I can hear fine over my headphones but nothing at all without them. Any ideas?

Blew your speaker? Hardware failure?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I would have to agree. If you have done the whole reformat then flash stock kernel/ ROM then I would think possible hardware issue. But then again I have been wrong before.

Ok well sounds like I will be picking up my third mez in less than a month.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
You should put it back to stock so it doesn't look suspicious and take it in to your local store and see what they can do.
You might not even need to restore it to stock, I've taken mine in there rooted, themed, covered in mods and the manager thought it was cool. Just depends I guess.

there are a few apks out as well i use the miui music player in my rom, so if you look hard enough you can at least find components.
Thanks for all the information. The reason why I asked this question is b/c I saw the xda video on that rom. I thought it looked clean.

You can play with the one in the vibrant forums. Aside from the obvious button/orientation issues it is pretty functional. That and you have to use WiFi.
Just don't do anything stupid unless you can recover with odin.

Going to try and flash miui and put a captivate modem on the rom.

I just recently noticed that my g2x plays songs perfectly through the music player without any distortion but if i apply a mp3 as a ringtone it becomes distorted when i receive calls. i know its not just the file because i have tried multiple songs. anyone else have this problem? any help is appreciated thanks!
I've noticed the same thing. In fact, I have to lower the volume of my ringtone below maximum, or it is weird sounding. But when I play the same mp3 through Music player, I can be full volume without any distortion.
Anyone know of a fix?

i have the same issue as well... if you're using cm7 there is dsp manager so you might want to play around with the settings. I haven't been able to yet, but you might give that a shot.
just fyi i have this problem on both stock and cm7
Same problem here. It almost sounds like the woofer is blown or something. My 10 year old Nokia has better speakers than my G2X.

And it doesn't seem to be a function of whether the speaker sucks or not...because when you play the same mp3 file through any media player, it sounds fine. But when a call is coming in at the same time that the mp3 is being played, it's distorted. It's almost as if the phone is using all of it's resources for the phone call, and only allocating a fraction of what it would normally allow to play the mp3.
I think you are on to something here. I'm surprised there is no fix to this problem yet. Does it not bother everyone else?

This phone is REALLY getting annoying... BSOD everytime, distorted ringtone, slow loading and freezes... Duh, wish I waited more and took the SGS2...
Anyone know if it's just mp3's as ringtones that are affected? How about ogg's? If noone else has tried, I"ll try later on.
Well it just does....anyone else with this issue..? Infused 2.1

Whenever I pick up a phone call random music starts playing in the background and continues even after I end the call...I try clearing data and killing apps in task manager but nothing stops it. Ends after 5 minutes or when I reboot. Anyone else having this problem?? And if so is there a fix for it?

then its definately a rouge app, if this problem migrates through roms. Do some digging, uninstall a few Alps that may be suspicious and go from there

Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk 2
Probably not, i used the latest nightly. I dont use Bluetooth so i really dont know. Mostly themed.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
Can you be able to make a rom with working bluetooth it can be stock as well with ics/jb theme. I use stock with custom kernel now. Only thing I want to add to it is ics theme. I don't want to use anything from market as it takes more memory.
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk 2
Sorry dont think i can. Have not been on stock since they updated to new baseband. And only stayed on that until i was able to reroot. Couldnt find any stock themes besides launcher themes. Theres an app called ninjamorph where u can change things but u must be real carefull. I watched and read many things on it before i used it. Most stuff i do is directly on my phone by zipping and unzipping different roms and seeing what works. Biggest problem with this phone is everyone is so concerned with ics or jb. And getting that to work would be great but until then we should create new roms with a more up to date ui. This phone is pretty quick and can do lots of cool stuff and why pay $600 for a new phone when this one still works fine. Had mine almost 2 1/2 years
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
Also if im not mistaken if u roll your phone back to the previous baseband i believe bluetooth works on cm7. I could totally be wrong and i couldnt even begin to tell u how to do that
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
Do you know how to roll back to old baseband? I would definitely do that because I like to use this phone and your exactly right why get different phone when we already have one that needs to have so adjustments to it.
