Hi all. Excuse me if anyone asked this question already. I did search and didn't find a thread on it, but is there a hack to increase volume a tad for a rooted gs4g? TIA!

Noe that's news we're all waiting for

Voodoo control plus from the app market, only 2$ and worth every penny, makes a world of difference. Best sound quality I've heard out of a phone.

download "galaxy tuner" from the market, you can amp your lil SGS4g speaker pretty high

i actually bought the voodoo control sound last week.

I bought the voodoo control app for $2 in the market. I rooted for this app. YOU DON'T NEED A CUSTOM KERNEL! The sound is GREAT on my Bose Mobile headphones

Built in Equalizer

Not sure if this is old news to everyone else, but I just stumbled across it (a month later) But the default music player has a built in equalizer. If you press the menu button while the app is open and tap settings it's there. You can also turn on a little visualization. Like I said not sure if everyone else knows this , but it's kinda cool.
Looool I thought I had noticed it late too. Inha en used google music but voodoo and 5.1 surround sound sound awesome ha. The

I personally like the stock player with Voodoo sound.
I use it in my car plugged into the

I agree with Corvette Dave. I purchased the HU in my truck for the USB port but I actually use my phone and the AUX port more. The infuse with voodoo sound sounds great with the stock player.

Yeah, products seldom ship with hardcopy manuals anymore. You have to download it from the product page (which the forum isn't letting me link to, but just Google "infuse manual").
personally I prefer using the DSPManager from cyanogen mod rom. It works great even without CM7 installed
Can u push dspmanager to stock froyo or do u have to be on gb Roman?

From what I have heard Voodoo Sound increases volume and makes music sound better as volume gets louder. Basically an amp. To run voodoo sound you have to have the right kernal installed. I think faux's 0.3.8 kernal works for a bunch of different roms including CM7. You can install voodoo sound from the market. If I'm wrong please someone correct me.
Both faux's kernal and voodoo sound have glowing reviews. Check the Development section for faux's kernal.
yes volume+ is good

Unless it's changed in the past couple of weeks, Voodoo on the G2x only helps with headphone/line out audio. It does not impact speaker sound yet.
Alright thanks guys, ill try those to see how it goes.

Volume boost is a good simple app that does not distort sound quality. However it only boosts headphone volume, not ext speaker.

Dunno, I tried Volume+ on MIUI and it doesn't seem to do a thing. Equalizer does have an effect, though I haven't tried it on a2dp, which is where I really need the boost.

With daryken bumping this thread I just ran across it. I have been using this app for longer than this post has been up and must say I cannot do without it now.
The widget is what makes it. It really ties together my media home screen.
Just a heads up for those with CM7. It does not play well with DSP manager. I found I had to choose between the two. The choice was not hard.

I never had any good results with DSP manager when I was on CM7. This really does work, but it doesn't seem to play well with MIUI which I am currently on. Instead I tweak the volume settings of idividual songs in iTunes and then move them over to the phone wich also works. But it is a bit of a long work around....

Try flashing a kernel with Voodoo sound. It increases volume using the phone's hardware, so there is no distortion whatsoever.

Voodoo?

I'm curious as to what voodoo is. I keep hearing its name and I kind of understand it. Would it boost my speaker volume? I don't listen to music on my phone as I have an iPod for that. So would I benefit from this? How do I go about adding it? I am on HellFire 1.8 bye too. I'm sorry if this has been asked already I did a search and didn't see anything.

If you don't listen to music on your phone, it doesn't really make a difference for you. On the G2x, it just increases headphone volume. But if you did want it, install Voodoo control from the Market, plug in some headphones, and enable it. From there, you can increase the Max dB settings to increase/decrease volume.

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you have any suggestions for a good and safe volume boost? My speakers seem really quiet.

On Galaxy S phones, it has a huge increase in sound quality. On the G2x, it only affects volume, based on personal experience. From the Market description:
Market description said:
Introduces LG Optimus 2x and T-Mobile G2x support.
‪11.‬Sound quality is not yet optimal on these devices: needs a lot of work to fix LG issues in their audio implementation and then add more quality optimizations.

volume+ for boost on speakers I believe, and ya I only notice volume with voodoo with headphones no real sound improvements in my opinion.
The DSP Manager lets you tweak the sound as well and I noticed a big improvement in quality using that. It comes with HFP
Pin it to Win it.

From the Market for Voodoo Sound app.
Description
This app controls Voodoo sound for Galaxy S, Nexus S phones Galaxy Tab and Asus Transformer running custom kernels implementing Voodoo patches.
If you don't want or cannot flash a kernel, my commercial app "Voodoo Control Plus" has the ability to load Voodoo Sound with only root.
Stock CM kernel does not support Voodoo, but Faux's does.
Just FYI

The only benifit to the g2x that i know of is the increase in dB which is helpful for using with a tape player adapter in a car stereo and driving headphones with slightly higher Ohms.
Also, I get louder volume on the tape adapter which helps with avoiding static by not having to turn the volume up so high.

Voodoo +dsp

So who thinks they have them playing nice with each other? I'm running Erik miui with both installed but one is always overtaking the other. I prefer voodoo bass boost over dsp and would always trash dsp in favor if the tw music player/EQ; however, with miui i don't think this is an option. the miui music eq doesn't seem to be as crisp on the high end as dsp nor is it optimized for our device (hence the distortion at high gains). thoughts, suggestions, experiences?
I use voodoo only on unnamed. The sound quality is better without dsp for me. I tried all sorts of settings combinations, voodoo only, dsp only, both together, in the end I always uninstall dsp.

Bass
The only way I've been able to use them in combo is by not applying anything other then the volume key hack from voodoo. Works great for me since I prefer that from voodoo and bass and equalizer from DSP. If you set up the bass on Voodoo and the EQ on DSP they will not play nice as you've found out. It's a one or the other type of thing.
I have both on Val Final. I haven't had any problems yet.
So glad no one said "just use poweramp"
on unnamed I too just rip out dsp.
the dsp eq sets the bass gains too high without any sort of limiter for our hardware. I think that is what makes it so distorted at louder volumes
