Anyone know which keyboard was used in ruby for the dinc - Thunderbolt General

Sorry for the random question but I miss the keyboard that is in my Dinc running Ruby. Is there a similar keyboard for a tbolt? What I miss is after ending a sentence with a space punctuation options would pop-up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Droid Multi Touch kb doesn't work with FroYo?

Is it just my phone, or does anyone else have the problem where using the droid x multi touch keyboard fc's with the FroYo update?
EDIT...running deodexed froyo with netarchy kernel and riptide theme.
I just installed it and yeah it is force closing on me too.
Have you played around with swype yet?...it is really bad ass.

If you haven't seen yet, the htc froyo keyboard now supports multi-touch, just throwing that out there.
I'm still using swype too btw, but the stock option is really quite nice.
Very true about the multi touch on the stock group sense keyboard. I like it. I however dislike the sound of the space and the enter. If anyone could verify the change it would be great.

NO it does not work. It will not work until Froyo comes out on the DroidX and someone ports over the new version.
Look at this thread, someone has a Droidx running 2.2
I still use swype (quite frequently). However, I still prefer pecking for really long posts for whatever reason.
And yeah...I did realize that the new HTC keyboard does have multitouch and a better word correction system...so I guess this keyboard is obsolete now

How to get swype?

A friend of mine just got an inspire and is wondering how to get swype on his stock inspire.
He needs to sign up for it and they will send him a link to download it

Either root it or side load it. AT&T blocks all non market apps from being installed. Swype on my inspire was buggy anyway, so I uninstalled it.
Get SlideIT. It trumps Swype in IMHO. SlideIT was the first to be released, though some think it's the other way around and SlideIT is a knock-off from Swype. I prefer SlideIT for a number of reasons, but mainly because you can add words to the dictionary and do a spell check on the fly. Plus, with the new release of SlideIT's 3.2, you can adjust the size (dimension) of the keyboard. That is a huge plus. Next, they are working on skins, so they say.
Both are very accurate, both do the same exact thing, they just do auto-correction and spell check (after you are done texting and want to go back to correct misspelled words the app couldn't predict) in a slightly different way.
I recently side-loaded Shapewriter, and it is by far the most accurate of all, however the keyboard is terrible looking. It's just an old-school looking keyboard...and not to mention it is no longer in the market, and I don't think the developers are working on the app any longer. I actually think that Shapewriter was the first to introduce the trace technology (late 90's).
Look in the app section here on xda, there are many alternatives for input

I've had Swype since my last phone (original droid), so using it seemed like second nature to me. A lot of people really like Swiftkey X too.
Smart keyboard

smart keyboard pro for me. simple, accurate enough, no extra bells and whistles and lots of skins. I'm not a huge fan of 'swiping' to text and don't care about all the herp derp super accurate word prediction stuff thats a big issue with a lot of people
blazing through on my 4G Droid Charge
The latest Swype beta.
I have fat fingers so. I need something that I can adjust the height. Of. The keys. So. Yeah...

There was a thread about this a while ago... I use SwiftKeyX or Swype Beta when I'm using one handed.

Better Keyboard
Stock gingerbread or Swype.
Stock GB is the only keyboard without lag, in my experience. If it wasn't for the lag I would say Smart Keyboard. SwiftKey would be amazing if it had an option to make the space bar larger. My texts are full of extra periods throughout from using it.

SwiftKey X is the best I have used, and once it learns your style, sometimes you can just use the predictions.

I use this themed version of HTC IME mod. just unzip and install apk. then go to settings, keyboards and check box. has tons of settings for key adjustment ,Smileys etc.if it has any lag,its faster than I can type
I alternate between SwiftKeyX which I love and the standard Samsung keyboard which always works.
By that I mean the SwiftKeyX hangs on most drop-down boxes on sites. For example, when selecting state for shipping, it will hang after selecting the drop-down. Otherwise it learned my typing style and works great!
For anything with an address, I switch back to the Samsung keyboard which is functional like the IOS keyboard.
I am hoping that when I root and update my phone, SwiftKeyX will work better.

Swype

Anyone else notice that this version of swype is horrible? Anyone have workarounds or fixes? It hardly ever gets words right.

I'm using stock right now and hating it. I used the beta on my fascinate and liked it. I'll have to switch.

I thought the stock “Swype” was so bad that I was going to send the phone back. Got Swype Beta and it made all the difference in the world.
BigK52
I have to agree about Swype, I feel like the latest update has been a step back. My complaints are:
1) they removed the "delete whole words" shortcut found in the menu when you Swype to the #5
2) I dislike how my Swype button rarely highlights a word so I can change it. Sometimes it will just keep going to the beginning of every word until it gets to the beginning of the sentence/paragraph.
3) the responsiveness for punctuation seems to miscalculate and place an error more frequently than I've seen in prior versions.
It feels like a step back although not much is missing. I've been using it for roughly a year so I know how far Swype has come.

Yeah, the stock swype keyboard is frickin awful. My accuracy with swype beta is probably > 90%. With stock swype it was probably < 50%. What a POS.

Best first post ever!
Wow.....just installed swype beta instead of this stock samsung crap that was on before. Probably 96% accurate now instead of ~50%. It's now bearable to put text down with just one thumb again Now I just want that microphone icon on the swype keyboard so I can talk if I wanted.
I have been using Swype since my OG Droid and I don't think I could ever use another keyboard again. One tip I have is to turn off the auto-correct, especially useful if you use any shorthand or slang in texts etc.
SlimSnoopOS - I totally agree on #2, I hate that it only highlights the previous word about 25% of the time now. I can't figure it out, its like its totally random now...
I was a huge fan of Swype. After changing android phones without Swype on it, I started looking. Amazon offered Flex T-9 as the free app of the day some time ago which I lucked up and downloaded for free. This is the BEST app out there right now.
Not sure if they have a free trial, but it's definitely worth the money!

Agreed, stock swype is awful. It seems that it's attempt at "learning" has actually made it worse. I feel like it was more accurate 3 weeks ago than it is now.

The voice detection is still there, it's just the flame icon now (at the bottom right next to the Search/Return button).
The icon change was because Swype was bought by Nuance, which also owns Dragon Naturally Speaking (the flame logo). They are branding the voice search, which is why the icon has changed. I hope this also leads to some under-the-hood improvements thanks to the merger.
You can consider using Swiftkey 3 as well
I find it to be a lot better at text prediction although it may not work for those who prefer swyping
Just saying thanks guys. Beta Swype is awesome and is a million times more accurate than stock solution.

[Q] Keyboard Lag on JellyBean

Hey everyone,
I noticed right off the bat when i upgraded to JellyBean, that there is SIGNIFICANT keyboard lad input when typing in text messages and really everything. this was almost non existent in ICS, at least for me. Now lag I mean at times, I'll type out a message and its a full second delay and ill watch the phone catch up and type all my letters. This occured on the OTA, figured it was crappy stock firmware, So I rooted and ROM'd over to CLEANROM and still hasn't changed. Does anybody else see this!? Its driving me bananas, especially for a galaxy that's the most powerful yet. Any suggestions and or input on this would be greatly appreciated.
Why not use a different keyboard? I have zero lag on swype beta.

This is the exact thing that I have been experiencing as well I do like the new keyboard but the laggyness is terrible.

When I rooted and rommed my wife's Rezound she also got a lot of lag when typing on her cleanrom. So I paid for SwiftKey and never looked back. SwiftKey is awesome and it elimated the keyboard lag and the word prediction is way better than stock. I would give the free trial a shot and see how it goes.

I also downloaded swift free trial. I like that too.

I hate the stock TW keyboard, I just recently installed the 4.2 keyboard as a system app and I'm back to being able to type normally.
