NAME: Phoenix Kernel for CM7
VERSION: v0.01
KERNEL: 2.6.32.9
DATE: April 09, 2011
OBJECTIVE:
Create a CM7-compatible kernel with various performance and usability enhancements.
NOTES:
THIS IS FOR CM7. I cannot stress this enough. If you flash this on a Froyo rom, it might not boot. It also might boot, but without many things working.
Your warranty is void. No one can or will be held responsible for your actions except YOU. That being said, these are tested for stability before release. If something is wrong, please read the thread FIRST, then post about it if you feel you have something of value to add.
Voodoo Sound:
This is a voodoo-sound enabled kernel! Please download Voodoo Control from the Market in order to further configure and control the features provided! Voodoo Sound is made possible by supercurio. You can find his thread here if Voodoo Control is not available in your country's Market.
DOWNLOADS:
These are in update.zip format. Flash from a custom recovery like Clockwork.

Initramfs is here.
You'll also need the latest CodeSourcery toolchain to compile.
CHANGELOG:
This list may not be comprehensive.

oh ****. Phoenix kernel was absolutely untouchable battery life on eclair. Can't wait to see what comes of this. Will definitly be flashing once CM7 is a little more polished.
Excuse my illiteracy, but when it comes to coding I know nothing. After reading through the commits, if I understand correctly it appears that if I flash this on top of Alpha 1 it will break wifi?

That is correct, but CM7 Alpha 4 is out, you should really update to it. It fixes WiFi, 3D Graphics, Bluetooth Media, Cell Signal Indicator, and other things.
thanks for being so on top of a CM7 kernel man. I love that you incorporated the keyboard fix because that's my #1 problem with this phone. keep the tweaks coming!

what does that have to do with anything? there are a few devs who have provided ROMs for shift users that don't physically own the device.
hoping to try thsi tomorrow. will provide logs if it doesn't work or isn't figured out by then.

I'm not sure who your talking about, but for sense rom ports the kernels are built to only be running on one rom. And most of the time, they just use the htc source for that, or the android kitchen. This is not a sense kernel. This is aosp, and was not built to run on a specific rom. If you can't test a aosp kernel it's really difficult to tell how well it will work. Just saying it's better if you own the device. Hope it get's working soon and I would try it if it works.

This kernel really needs uv. Other than that it's working great. I have a ton of clock options and a couple exrta governor's.
Edit: uc works good but 1.8, 1.9, and 2.0ghz all lock up on me on the ondemand governor.

MIUI
Alpha 1
MIUI is one of the most popular Android ROMs across all devices, and here it is, (almost) completely ready for the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket!
Issues
Mobile Network may or may not work. I believe you have to be unlocked.
Camera DOES NOT yet work
In-call audio does not work. One workaround may be to leave the GPS on and reboot. However, as I am not unlocked, I cannot test this.
Wifi sometimes gives an error. Looks like you're going to have to flash Da_G's CM7 kernel without any tweaks to fix that.
Let me know if there are any other issues! Other than that, this ROM could be a daily driver.
Working
Everything not listed above
Questions?
Just ask!
Dev Work
This is my first ROM, so I may need a little help dealing with all the problems that may arise. You are free to download this, modify it as you want, and repost it as your own. Just give credit where needed.
Special Thanks
XAviierG - This ROM is based off of all of XAviierG's hard work. I merely made small edits to make it work with the i727.
Da_G - This ROM's kernel is based off of Da_G's CM7 kernel.
SolteRR - SolteRR was able to fix the problem with the internal SD not being mounted by the ROM.

No. It's MTD.
Also, AppWidgetPicker won't really work with the latest TW ROMs.
Since Samsung implemented their newer picker.
And unless you directly modified the audio drivers for our phones, DSPManagers effect is minimal. All it does is cause lag.

KERNELS aren't bad once you know where in the source to find certain things that might need some tweaking to work on ported roms. Our phone uses the HTC-msm-7x30 and there's tons of msm-7x30 devices by htc out there that a lot of the hardware is the same. If you want to try and port a kernel just search github for msm-7x30. Only device specific things in the kernels are things like the hardware keyboard, camera/video drivers and things like that which you can find in toastcfh's kernel.

This is all correct... I'll also add that the G2/desireZ (vision) is almost the same as the shift, making it, for the most part, easiest to port. I highly recommend dl'ing Toastcfh's source and a few others (scary ghoul, sparksco, x99) so you can compare. It's convenient to have a solid source to look back on when you get compiling errors.

We should get CM10 as soon as CM10 nighties start. Pawitp already said that all the sources for the Captivate are in place, but he doesn't have time to compile a test build (there is a test build for the i9000 along with a thread on the i9000 forum). If all the sources are in place, it should be possible to compile from source. The kernel itself may also have to be compiled from source independently. Of course if you are able to compile the kernel from source, you can use the i9000 CM10 build and do a kernel swap.
Edit: It is important to note that a CM9 kernel will not work for a swap. THS has changed the partitioning for CM10 on the SGS devices. the /system partition from CM7/9 is not large enough for Jelly Bean, so the /datadata partition has been removed and the space has been split between /system and /cache. This means that performance for loading applications may not be as good as CM9 (at least until the cache builds up). For more details, look in pawitp's i9000 CM10 thread.
has anyone tried yet? I flashed it and it completely wiped my phone... the settings->about doesn't even say RC2.... i'm going to hold off... i think this was a test build debugger. is it just me?

dman !!! thought you was rocking the Note ?
I would recommend that you put information such as Changelog, Installation instructions, Bug tracking, Rules, etc. Because this thread is probably going to be closed if it consists only of a simple link.
Looks good tho
Doesn't seem like a good idea to post a link in the development section, of other people's work. You are doing good by informing people about the RC, but don't you think this should be in General Section.
