Post your Captivate Background here and more!! - Captivate General

So, this is a topic for fun and some questions.
1. I have some internal debate. Should an alarm clock wake screen wallpaper be of a night scene or a morning scene? Or should I convince a developer to provide options for an alarm background in the PM and an alarm background in the AM
2. Does anyone use a separate background for their phone's alarm? If so, what is it, exactly? I was inspired for this because GAlarm has a rather pretty background, but it is unavailable, so I am looking at other options now.
3. What is your background for your phone right now!!
I use this busy background for my default background currently (pared down of course)

And so far, this is my potential background for my alarm (Alarm Clock X-treme does not support the feature yet)

(How do I make my pictures not text links
Thanks everyone!!

there is already several background and homescreen threads.
and as far as alarms everyone is going to have a different preference and is really not interesting and there is already a thread on it! WAIT YOU STARTED IT!!

Disable weather info in Sense clocks?

I was wondering if there was any way to disable / get rid of the weather info that is displayed in the clock's background. Like the temperatures and that image of the sun, moon, clouds etc.
Ultimately I want to do that but at the same time still have the weather animations on the rest of the screen.
Can these things be done on the same on any same version of manila?

Have a look in the Leo General forum mate - there's a discussion ongoing in there. I think they've had mixed success. I can't really comment as I only really glanced at it - I'm happy to have the animation on the clock.
Hope this helps
Thanks brother. I will try to track it down.

New app idea - looking for input / feedback.

Hi Everyone -
First off, I apologize if this is the wrong place for this message. If so please feel free to move it, mods
I own a Samsung Continuum. My wife is absolutely in love with the ticker. A couple days ago (while flying out for vacation!) she asked me if there were any widgets that function like the ticker, or if I could create one for her.
So I got thinking and I think it might make for a pretty useful widget. However, there are already a lot of "show sms/calendar/etc.." widgets out there, does the world really need another?. Also, there are things that the ticker on the Continuum can do that a widget can't, mainly Gestures.
Knowing all that, I still think an "information ticker" widget would be rather useful. Here's what I'm thinking -
Show events on the home screen (SMS, Email, low battery, etc) in a ticker like display (ie: every X seconds the ticker moves on to next item).
Group "like" items so you don't end up with 100 ticker items, meaning there is one view for SMS that can be navigated (maybe up/down arrows?)
Provide next/back buttons for navigating the different ticker items (since we can't have gestures in widgets)
Have default view which shows just a snap shot of events (how many SMS, etc), much of the view on the Continuum.
Provide a way for others to plug into the ticker and provide their own notification/views
I hide the notification bar on my home screen (LauncherPro). I would love to build the widget in a way that it can *almost* replace the notification bar. Since you can't actually intercept the notifications there is a limit to what can be done.
So that's what I'm thinking. I'm sure there's a bunch of other stuff that I could/should add to it. However I don't want to start building it out if there wouldn't be interest in something like this. And that's why I'm here, would you find a widget like this useful? If so, what would you like to see in it?
Many thanks in advance!
That's a great idea - I would prefer a NYSE/NASDAQ style ticker to the item-by-item widget you describe. Battery life is a big concern however... I had a similar idea to yours a few months back, but the battery life thing gave me pause.
But what have you got to lose? Code away, have fun and learn something in the process... do it before I outright steal the idea from you!
hey,
I think your ideas:
- Show events on the home screen (SMS, Email, low battery, etc) in a ticker like display (ie: every X seconds the ticker moves on to next item).
- Group "like" items so you don't end up with 100 ticker items, meaning there is one view for SMS that can be navigated (maybe up/down arrows?)

are great!!! I am particularly, interested in the last one... replacing the notification bar with the ticker... I mean half the time i dont get notification so why not have the ticker instead... thts brilliant!!!
So when are you planning on putting the recommendations to action???? would be a revolutionary
cheers,
Sijju

[MOD] Trailblazer101's EC09 Everything Mod -Spearoided!!

I asked Trailblazer101 if he could modify his EC09 Everything Mod for our Continuums to several specific requests of mine. A bunch of requests
And he delivered!
I've long struggled with his mods affecting homescreen respawns on my phone. I use LauncherPro. Thanks to a great post by TXWolf1980 I took his advice and used Rom Toolbox to eliminate all kinds of unnecessary processes that were running automatically. Now I can use TB's mods and I see no difference in my phone's performance.
So, this flashable .zip is Trailblazer101's EC09 Everything mod with the following modifications/additions:
1) Ticker History button now requires a long-press too, like the weather button. Now, nothing can be executed from the standard Ticker screen without a long-press!
2) Long pressing the ticker history button after loading up ticker history puts the ticker into sleep mode. And now sleep mode is completely blank. Also, to exit sleep mode, you have to long-press the clock area. This means the 5 shortcuts to Browser, Market, etc are no longer present.
3) When the SMS icon in the Ticker is present (showing unread texts even when they're aren't any) you can now clear the icon by long-pressing it. If you use a 3rd party SMS app and still want your ticker to show incoming texts, you've been frustrated having to load up the stock SMS app to eliminate the unread text icon in the ticker.
4) The icons for the TW toggles on the pull-down menu and the status bar icons have been replaced with ones I designed with a blue theme.
5) The clock and date are now centered and the clock is the same blue as seen in the icons.
6) Long-pressing the search button is now recognized and configurable for such things as Voice Search or Quick Composing texts.
7) Weather and Ticker History icon are blank by default.
There is a feature that is not mainstream and I'd actually prefer it be undone for the masses, but I think Trailblazer101 is very busy with other things now. I asked him to make the long-press of the weather icon load up my RealCalc calculator app since I don't use the weatherbug program. As such, if you must have the weatherbug program and its functionality in the Ticker, you are not going to want to install this mod.
Major props to Trailblazer101 for doing all of this for me. I absolutely love the way my phone is set up now! He has been SUCH a help to the Continuum community. I don't know how to do it, but if I figure it out, I'd love to add a link to this post for thanking Trailblazer101

Well that's great news! Glad to know you're still alive!
If you want to re-create the Spearoid mod without the Realcalc tweak for the Weather icon, I'll edit the OP to point to that file.
I made a framework that has some blue softkeys to go along with the theme. didn't want to be selfish! XP
hope you guys enjoy it!

Is there anything in this that we can extract and use?
Logan
I realized I actually had the wrong set of icons in the file I linked to. They were simply the wrong color blue. You may have noticed the lighter blue in the signal icons not matching the blue in the TW toggle icons or the Ticker clock.
I've updated the OP with the proper link. THIS is what my tweak of TB's mod was supposed to look like!
I dont know if you even read this forum anymore but you state the weather and ticker and blank by default which isnt the case for me. While the ticker icon is blank the weather icon is still showing. Any idea why?
Edit: I feel like an idiot. Just after posting I remembered I set the weather app up before removing it. I went and removed the location and the icon vanished. Thanks for the awesome mod!
Well I don't come here often as it's a graveyard but glad you like it!
I've finally reached a place of contentment with my Continuum!

Very cool
This looks really nice.

Share your inspirations of Homescreen Customizations and more!

Hey all!
This is kinda broad and vague form of asking for some serious Android Visual Mods, not digging upto the kernel tweaks and rom's. But the launcher tweaks and other addons. I know every bit of the users have their sort of inspirations and favorite modder/designers on board. I've been seeing a lot of daily homescreen customizations at mycolorscreen website, But I neither want the themer app to decompile them.
If you've got your shot of daily inspirations or any source elsewhere, please do share. Your favorite launcher with the range of wide usability concerned, icon packs and widget customizations and designing, favorite icon packs designer.
A screenshot of the screen's would be more informative. I hope this thread won't be counted to sharing the current homescreen/lockscreen shots.
Thanks.
There's a homescreen sticky in nexus 5 themes and apps already
My bad!, Please delete this topic then.

Design issues

Few gripes with the look and feel of Honor 7x.
1) I can't seem to change the notification panel background feom black to transparent without rooting. Is there a solution?
2) Spotify controls on lockscreen does not appear like the stock music control where there is a big album cover. Any fix?
3) Can the recents page be changed to a different look? Am alright with the arrangement, just would like to make the cards rounded or in the same effect?
4) Notifications would also look better if I can change them into Oreo-styled box-shaped notifications with color shading.
Sorry for the amateur questions but I am trying to tweak this phone to the smallest of detail if possible. Again, I reiterate that I am unrooted and would not like to root. On nova launcher. Don't know how to share images on xda otherwise I would send some screenshots. Again, sorry for being a noob, and thank you for all the suggestions.
