Hi, I've been told that not all the devices can be rooted with Superoneclick. What's your device?
However, I faced the same problem in the first time I used Superoneclick, my device is a motorola xt720. I connected my device to my pc, enabled USB debugging but I forgot to select "Portal and Tools" from the list of ways to connect your device to your pc. For instance, one way is "simple charge", another one is "SD card": "Portal and Tools" allow my phone to change something in the software installed on my device. Maybe you find something similar in your device.
root 2
Ah, as I was saying before, there are other apps to root your device. For instance, one of them is Universal Androot, that is NOT available in the market. I'm sorry, I cannot link you the address to download it because I'm not allowed yet since I'm new in this forum, but if you search the development section you should easily find it. Download the apk file, put it in your SD card and using ASTRO File Manager (available in the market) you can easily install it and root your phone. Hope this will help you!
the app didnt work... and the tools and portal thing idk how to enable that. the only app that has worked for me is the z4root thing but it worked when it was in 2.1, now its 2.2 and when i tryd it it just sat on running exploit. i sooo SAADDD
Same here, tell me if you found a way to get one click to work or any other root for that matter

Can anyone please help me out with my problem trying to root my phone.
What I did so far was:
Downloaded the samsung usb driver
USB debugging is on
downloaded superoneclick 1.7
connected phone to the computer using original USB cord.
opened superoneclick, changed to rageagainstthecage and clicked root
the following message resulted from doing this.
-----------------------------------------------------
Killing ADB Server...
OK
Starting ADB Server...
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
OK
Waiting for device...
OK
Pushing rageagainstthecage...
cannot stat 'C:\Users\k\rageagainstthecage': No such file or directory
OK
chmod rageagainstthecage...
Unable to chmod /data/local/tmp/rageagainstthecage: No such file or directory
OK
Running rageagainstthecage...
--------------------------------------------------------------------
After running rageagainstthecage, the superoneclick program just doesn't do anything else, and eventually freezes. PLEASE HELP. I been searching through forums for a while now, and I see other people with the same problem but it hasn't been resolved.
Try it again using the "Psneuter" method. That worked for me.

Check Here for info on rooting and read my post. Don't use Rage. It also sounds like you are not connecting to your phone properly.
you can also follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1025610 if you werent aread doing so
everything is successful after following your directions, but when it said sending 'su', or whatever to phone, the antivirus warning comes on and says "Installing package: com.noshufou.android.su is infected" . I even turned off the antivirus on the phone to see if it would work. But then i used Root Checker to see if it still worked it says Its not installed. any ideas?
EDIT: nevermind, restarted the phone and everything is working. THANKS.

Any antivirus will see SuperOneClick or any rooting software as a virus. You need to disable all antivirus software before you use it or it will stop the rooting process. It's good to see you got it to work.

I'm trying to unroot an Atrix that was rooted with SuperOneClick 1.6.5, which was all that was out back then, and recommended as the bets.
I've tried SOC 1.6.5 and the newest 1.9.1 version, clicked on UNROOT and it isn't unrooting.
SOC 1.6.5 fails after saying:
SuperOneClick v1.6.5.0
Killing ADB Server...
* server not running *
OK
Starting ADB Server...
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
OK
Waiting for device...
OK
Pushing psneuter...
763 KB/s (585731 bytes in 0.748s)
OK
chmod psneuter...
OK
Running psneuter...
-------------------------------------------
And after waiting patiently, eventually I have to kill that. The phone is normally in debug mode, I've tried disabling that mode too. No joy. Restarted the phone, no joy. It's still rooted. I've uninstalled the AVG antivirus (yes, paranoid) and retried. No joy.
I've seen another post suggesting Root Explorer, which I don't have, but I don't see all the files referenced from that thread either. And I have no idea what adb is besides an old Mac serial bus.
Can someone be generous enough to use little words, give me a simple way to just unroot the phone? Or point me to where there's a simple explanation of how to make SOC unroot itself? (I've looked, really!)
Uninstall the SuperUser apk.
knightz, I'm from a different planet so sometimes the obvious is all new territory for me:
Where's the SU apk? Uninstall it by....Deleting it? Clicking an uninstall button somewhere?
If you mean...Go to "Manage Applications", select SuperUser, then pick uninstall...Both the "Force stop" and the "uninstall" button are grayed out and can't be selected here. So that won't work, at least not here.
(On the bright side, if I was a *nix programmer, someone else would be out of a job, there's only so many to go around.<G>)
Thanks.
Using superoneclick I leave it set to auto and click root, it always just says killing adb server then starting adb server and does nothing. So I read a post here saying disable usb debugging then enable it, did that and get told phone appears to be rooted (it isn't as cannot run any root apps) so clicked yes to continue and superoneclick says a whole list of errors.
Any ideas how to root the 2.2 O3D safely?
Thanks
Dave
EDIT: It seems the error was caused by me having an emulator running in the background. Closed the emulator on the pc and re tried and it worked fine.
Hey! I've been a silent creeper on this forum for a while, really love this place..
So I attempted to root my E2 (ICS) using this method, and it was all working beautifully until after the last reboot - the root console kept displaying something like "error! More than one device and emulator".
I searched throughout this forum and many others and could not find a solution specific to or relevent to my problem. I was hoping somebody could help me!
Also, SDMaid tells me that my phone IS rooted, and I tried to root again, but instantly it gave me that same error and then said that my device was rooted..
SU is on my phone and I appear to have root access - did something go wrong..?
:S
UPDATE:
I changed two variables on my second attempt:
Found out I had Daemon Tools running with an emulated BluRay drive - I removed the drive and closed Daemon
I was hooked up to a USB 3.0 for my first attempt, so I switched to 2.0
After changing these two things, the result was a flawless run with a successful root.
I'm guessing it was the Daemon Tools, not the USB 3.0/2.0, but in the interest of complete transparency, I decided to include that as well.
Its been continuous 10 hours I have been googling and searching here but I am not able to find a single goddamn solution for this stupid ADB or fast boot **** in order to root my Desire S, I want to downgrade my HBoot in order to root I am using this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399331
but all I am getting is this stupid error that's making me cry like hell:
adb server is out of date, killing...
ADB server didn't ACK
* failed to start daemon * (I dont even know what the hell this daemon is for me its DEMON)
error: unknown host service
Please someone help me out all I know its very very difficult to find adb drivers for HTC Desire S may be I am wrong but I have installed and uninstalled the drivers like thousand times from different sources nothing worked yet all ended on that stupid error!!!
uninstall whatever drivers you have currently on you PC.....I'd then suggest rebooting your PC to start clean.
then I'd suggest you download and install http://www.htc.com/uk/software/htc-sync-manager/download/ you may have to drop down and select the correct device type. you can then uninstall HTC Sync after wards as I believe it leaves the necessary drivers in place.
You may find that you have HTC_SYNC.EXE on your SD that came with your device, I know that mine did.
I'd also
the main issue was Desire S adb drivers I downloaded them so many times but no luck but at last from one forum dunno which I downloaded that .inf file and it worked like a charm but no use as I tried zergRush and Tacoroot but they both are not working giving errors!!
