Yes both of you are my favorite Cap devs so I'm quite excited now lol!
And yeah, I was just poking around in the Desire HD forum and saw that and started reading posts, then about 5 pages in I saw someone on at&t in the states used it and I said "eh, why not" - glad I did. Battery is definitely way up too.
I'm gonna check out your ROM in a bit - btw you say you added EXT4 support but does the ROM actually format in EXT4 or no? I'd love to have EXT4 back like on the Cappy

Nice! DG, Adam, Dilli all over from the cappy forum now this is more like it!
Thought I accidentally clicked on the Captivate forum for a sec! Glad you got rid of that Atrix. Great specs, sure, but software and hackability reign supreme in my book. Having to decide between Sense, CM, and MIUI with both Froyo and Gingerbread versions of each is a great problem to have!

UPDATE 4.10.11 - Moving my learning curve towards a more user-biased concept - see x99percent or scaryghoul for GREAT kernels!
OP Here - http://romrepo.info/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=20
WARNING! Will not have wifi working and will not work properly on cm nightlies 31+, newest MIUI, Evervolvs new release may still not have the new video drivers. See original link for details.
Git: https://github.com/smoothtaste/speedy-gb
Proof of concept, with my sd reader fried I need a bigger test base to see if its going in the right direction and actually being used by end-users. If anyone is up to helping me with merges and such while I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere it'd be pretty sweet
Original goal: bring an OC/UV kernel to the table for 2.3 aosp roms with proper smartass governor implementation *as per x99percents interpretation. Then as kernel matures implement into aosp build (A few of my fellow users have agreed to or already are working on this.)
Git cloned toastcfh, not used to having to list things publicly so my git is sloppy. ENTIRE kernel base is toastcfh. I just cloned him a few moments too early, cause the video drivers are already outdated.
Inserted freq/voltage tables found in x99's sense kernels. Also implemented x99s interpretation of the governors, great work.
Very special thanks to scaryghoul for repeatedly telling me how far too far really is, for giving me a couple great scripts (which I then misused, hence broken wifi.) And for just being a cool mofo who knows some shiz.
UPDATE 4.10.11 - Moving my learning curve towards a more user-biased concept - see x99percent or scaryghoul for GREAT kernels!
You have been warned, I am teaching myself at my own pace and there might not be ANY reason YOU should use this. Unless you wanna help me get better, of course.
REMEMBER! Not cm7 31+ or newest miui. Will have a VERY hard time scrolling.

Changelog!
V.0.0.fail
Merged with toastcfh 3.27 - integrated x99percents freq tables and governor patches. Made into flashable zip thanks to scaryghouls script - and in turn destroyed wifi functionality. My mistake :X
If anyone does this on the correct roms I'm looking for battery life and performance infos. If we get a lil attention, we'll go ahead and bring the public release up to date.

UPDATE 4.10.11 - Moving my learning curve towards a more user-biased concept - see x99percent or scaryghoul for GREAT kernels!
Bionic is libc for Android. It's a target for optmization because most android programs call into Bionic (functions like memcmp, memcpy, strcmp, etc. are all there) - making bionic faster would improve the speed of a lot of other programs at once. So far, 10-50% improvement seen in microbenchmarks on the optimized version of these functions.
changelog:
version 1.0:
-initial release
-backport changes from gingerbread (switches to v6 atomic instructions, faster strlen)
version 1.1 updates: <--current version
-updated memset, memcpy, memcmp, strcmp, strchr, strcat, strcpy, memchr to faster, optimized versions w/neon or DSP instruction support where applicable.
version 1.1: http://www.nuerom.com/bionic/update-1.1.zip
old version 1.0: http://www.nuerom.com/bionic/update.zip
to restore back to the EC05 version, run:
http://www.nuerom.com/bionic/restore-ec05.zip
Most likely it'll only work on something close to EC05, but I haven't really tested.
benchmark with 0xbench - http://code.google.com/p/0xbench/ (libmicro) to see improvements.
you'll need a bunch of binaries installed for libmicro, i've compiled them and provided an update.zip here that will automatically install these for you: http://www.nuerom.com/bionic/libmicro.zip

This is also working just dandy so far. I don't have any benchmarks to back up any sort of substantial performance gains, but I'm sure the few tweaks you're doing here and there will add-up to a very nice user experience improvement. I have noticed that after this as and the davlik patch were applied, the interface seemed to be much more fluid and smooth without any annoying pauses you sometimes get due to scheduling.
So again, thanks no2chem and definitely keep up the badass work, mi amigo!

Holy crap is right! This guy was KING back in the days of the TP2 (the last time I was privileged enough to own a device he was developing for). He actually seemed to disappear for a while (web page and from forums) so glad to hear he/she is alright and ready to produce some more amazing work. I am suddenly VERY OPTOMISTIC just knowing a great dev is on the task, particularly one that's been dealing with such intricate coding/mods (dude found a way to get extra memory available by disabling the camera, in a way that made the phone HUGELY more useful! For just one example...)

Bionic is libc for Android. It's a target for optmization because most android programs call into Bionic (functions like memcmp, memcpy, strcmp, etc. are all there) - making bionic faster would improve the speed of a lot of other programs at once. In fact, it's at the heart of the idea that drives the greendroid project: http://greendroid.ucsd.edu/ which aims to implement libc in very power-efficent conservation core (c-core) hardware. While we can't do exactly implement new hardware, we can attempt to improve the speed of our device by backporting the latest updates to bionic to our devices running older versions of Android, and also optimize Bionic in other ways.
I'd imagine this project requiring several parts:
1) The first part is to figure out how to compile bionic and update libc.so on our phones. It's actually not a trivial task as the exports in AOSP version of bionic differ slightly from the version on our phones... Fortunately I was able to fix that by implementing the missing two exports (they were syscalls).
2) Backport changes from the master bionic tree into our bionic while maintaining the same interface to applications. Fortunately, libc doesn't change much, and they've mainly been adding new functions to bionic instead of changing old ones - I've backported most of the changes now.
3) Figure out which functions are slowing the system down and could be improved. This will probably require some profiling to figure out which parts of libc android spends the most time in.
4) See if there's other places we can take optimized functions from. Some canidates include glibc, the linux kernel, and the implementation in ARM's RVCT.
I've done 1-2 do far. I can't really tell if there's a performance change, but it seems to boot okay on my stock EC05 ROM. There's an update.zip posted at
http://www.nuerom.com/bionic/update.zip
Most likely it'll only work on something close to EC05, but I haven't really tested.
It seems that some string functions were optimized, at least one (strcmp, i think?) was replaced with an assembly version that was 10x faster, and some bugs that caused atomic locking code to be suboptimal were fixed).

I have started a comparison chart for the currently available ROM's for the G2X. Since we are just getting started with this device it seems like a great time.
I have made the spreadsheet editable by anyone, I encourage and would appreciate any help with keeping it current. I also do not mind any improvements you see fit, such as adding or changing columns, conditional formatting etc. I just put this together in the time I had available today and it is a rough draft. I know some of you here have much more experience in using Google docs and making something like this so do your thing! I'd like this to be a community project.
PLEASE do not intentionally falsify any information or in any way harm the integrity of this project, we all benefit from this site and there is nothing funny about ruining this for others. Also, I will make a nightly backup.

Bionix has kernel .1.1 according to its changelog?
It seems you are trying to make a point or something with the voodoo lagfix?
If none of the phones have it, why would there be a column then?? The column would only be necessary if one of the roms had it. Why put it in there?
We will never have a lag-fix as we already have a great file system (ext3 and ext4) only reason that would be needed is for Samsungs ****ty rfs file system. Might as well remove it from the chart
Good comparison chart though. ^^
Edit: Oh and mine does have spare parts, boot and shutdown animation changed as well

You know what, I actually re-flashed my old vibrant for the wife to use the same day I flashed my first ROM onto this phone so I remembered hearing the lagfix lady while I was flashing a ROM on here and so I thought.. well, maybe it was a little late when I put this together. Column removed.
Once again, if there is something silly like this that you guys see please feel free to make the change, I'm not claiming ownership of this spreadsheet.

Hi tweezit! Thanks for taking the time to reply. I am running your ROM now and its sexy Updated your info.
Removed the lagfix column, I guess it had just become a permanent part of my psyche.
Should I replace with a file system column (ext3 or ext4)? Or is that not important?
Also, is it safe to assume everyone is running the same base band at the moment?

Thanks for the info faux! I promise its nothing personal that yours was lacking. I actually think your ROM is brilliant, and your a bit of a genius![/suckup] I'm just sticking to froyo for now.
I really appreciate you guys (devs) posting in here. I've been working long days I just wanted to get this out there even as a really rough draft so it didn't just become a bigger and bigger task I don't get around to. I
Added Gigglebread and File System column.
Thanks to everyone who has edited with more info!
This is going to sound petty, but can we add a column for HD recording support? I know the leaked build doesn't support it (that's why I went back to stock), do any of the custom ROMs support it yet that are not Froyo-based? I presume all froyo ROMs would support HD recording with the LG camera apk.

Lol, don't sound so disappointed! No doubt Starsky will bring back the glory of TeamViper and I'm glad he's picked up where they left off. Trinity was probably the best of the roms (for me anyway) at that time so I'm all onboard!!!
tphillips has already given his blessing, he was the last to officially work on it after BT was sent overseas to aide with the recovery after the earthquake in asia. Wonder how he's doing anyway? Anyone ever hear from him? Last I heard he moved on to the EVO 3D...

He joined ACS and devs for the Photon now. He's doing quite well talked to him this morning. He may be doing something for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 soon as well, but he's been enjoying the work already done there.
silly mens
Glad to see a Viper Rom in the works! Thanks for the work!
I chatted with TP on Google+, and he's totally cool with Rob doing the port. I tried to coax him back into Epic OG development, to no avail. Anyway, many thanks to Rob for taking this on, and to former Team Viper for giving us this rich history on which to build!
Rob, I'll PM you for test info.

Thanks for the update, glad to hear he's doing well. He seemed to be a pretty cool dude, patient with noobs, and for damn sure, knew his way around the Epic. The ACS Team has a huge following and some awesome devs in their camp, I'm sure he'll fit right in over there. I'm getting Galaxy Tab 10.1 for my next toy so I'll definitely look out for his work over there.

OK beta is delayed due to me baking in the 10 locks mod, and theming it appropriately. Looking at the weekend for a release!
Let me kick this off by saying I am not the most knowledgeable guy around here, and I don't have as much time to dedicate to working on ROMs as I would like, but I would like to share what I have been working on. This is just me sharing my own personal compilation/build. If you know me from the Inspire or Captivate, you might know what to expect.
This ROM is using playin4sheezy's BoneStocketeer as the base, mainly because my Beta1-6 builds had problems with no vibrate...didnt notice it because i dont use it, but it is what it is.
Features:
2.3.5 KJ7 from Rogers (bonestocketeer):
stripped, tweaked, pounded
14-toggle port by YoDerk
Stockish Kernel .1 by RomRacer
obviously no CIQ because of the KJ7 rogers base
ICS Animations
Extended Power menu
accurate battery/stock battery icon w/%
stock look
all homescreen icons/widgets removed for a clean install
language is set to American English
overall system tweaks and increased response
This rom has a very stock look to it, but is very quick. I am using stockish kernel due to too many SOD's with DaG kernel (if you dont normally have SOD issues with his kernel, go ahead and flash it)
I am not a flashy person when it comes to rom building, but i like it sleek and fast. Give it a try and see what you think. I am continuously working on my own build, but i will not release anything to you guys that i have not been thoroughly testing myself. this build has been over a week of me working on it as I found time to build/test.

Enjoy

it looks stock with nothing on the homescreens. it has stock battery icon with percentage....very minimal
overclocking is dependent on the kernel, not the rom. if you install Da_G's kernel, you can overclock.
try and see. you can always go back to your old rom via nandroid.....
PirateGhost seems like I always have the same phones as you lol I know your work and I will be flashing this ROM when I get to 100%. Quick question, when I had the inspire we could just clear the caches and wipe everything and flash away, now that I've come back to Samsung do we have to return to stock (Captivate times) before flashing a new ROM? I'm on sky ice cream sandwich.

the only reason Flash to Stock was needed on the captivate was because of their horrible RFS. they have done things properly and now use an ext4 filesystem, so its not needed. just wipe and flash

our recent device list is identical.... i would be disturbed if you had an HD2 before the cappy lol i figured most people werent jumping from HTC, to Samsung, back to HTC, then back to Samsung like i have lol guess im not alone
I'll give it a go, one question I can't seem to find an answer. Is it possible to change the battery back to the regular non number/% battery. it just makes me think the battery lasts longer...... Thanks in advance!

If so I'll switch over and test it. also can you talk to romracer he is trying to get carrier IQ removed, from his build? Thanks man and keep up the good work!!!
