It depends on which one you do if you let them flash it half way then you only get calling and wifi but if you do a full flash then it will let you use the whole phone here is a website to help you do it it's a bit pricey though and you have to already have a cricket number which means going out and buying those crappy phones out there but because it's from the lg optimus line you wont get mms but you will get internet and talking. Here is the website http://remotesquad.com/products-page/flash-android/

Newbie. I plan buying this phone when Rogers get it later this month. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of ALL the stuff that Rogers will have put on the phone? Unless someone knows of something they have done which is actually useful. Is there?
I plan getting my data via wifi - any tips on how to do this?
I'd like to use the GPS without going through Rogers. Is this possible?
Are there any programs I should load to make the phone more functional?
Many thanks.

Touch Pro is not this forum... this is for the original GSM Touch.
I thought Rogers is only getting the Diamond. Bell has both.

Future Shop, Rogers and Fido tell me they're getting it.
The retail Fido phone store at Park Royal vancouver already has it.
I flashed my NS4G to Boost... it was a long and agonizing road, but I think i finally got it working correctly.
my phone is currently 100% stock with gingerbread 2.3.7
since this was such a stressful flash, i'm kind of worried about "not fixing what's not broken"...
however, i'd love to re-root it and flash a custom ROM. Will doing this mess up any of the modifications i had to do to get calls, text, and data to work?
(they were all done in QPST)
I'm not going to do it until i have confirmation... so let me know and ease my mind!
thanks

so a standard rom flash will retain all boost settings?
yes.
keep in mind mms fix only works on gingerbread as far as i know.
the APN can't be changed on ICS roms.

If you use voice dialer and say "open APNs", it will let you edit the apn. Does this not work to get mms working?

what you are talking about can not be talked about as it is illegal to change the esn and meid all all other device identifiers that are registered to the fcc. Each phone has a unique id to it that is represented to the fcc. I have also been talking with Boost employess and area managers and boost is getting ready to kick off the users who have "flashed" phones on Boost that do not belong on boost. This is going to be done as Boost can still tell what type of phone you have other then the esn / meid as the device still sends out certain other device ids to the network when you use certain programs. Also by trying to send updates to your phone sprint can request the system information from your phone that can tell them the actual make and model and firmware and all that you are running. And you thought carrier iq was bad...
if you wait a few months or so the evo 3d will be on sprints virgin mobile with ics included and sense 3.6...
Boost mobile will be getting the HTC Evo design 4g soon as well...
i myself dont understand why boost is going 4g when sprint is going lte... but another stupid move by sprint.
does anyone have a link to a how to flash my nexus s 4g to boost? I'd really like to do this. cant afford sprint anymore...
I just bought from Verizon the Nexus Prime and truthfully I hate paying out my arshe for nothing. So can someone explain how I can get and use another provider like Boost. I know the with Metro Pcs I can "Flash" my Nexus but then I loose the web and many other features which I don't want to loose. Truthfully I don't want to sacrifice anything I just want to use my Nexus through Boost. The question is, "Can I and if so should I r00t my phone?" Thank you for helps.
I don't know about the boost thing but some people know how flash to metro and have the web and messaging.

almost all verizon phones are GSM network phones, Boost Mobile runs on a CDMA network so I have never heard of flashing between networks (I could be wrong).
I have an EVO 4g from spint which is CDMA, I found it fairly easy to flash over once I got SDK setup but its different for everyone. You need to root to do this and I recommend doing it even if ya dont flash it. Please don't try to hold me responsible for what happens to your phone I just wanted to give you some info. seriously you need to google it alot before your sure you can flash between networks. here is a link to flash to boost mobile
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353411
this is a evo 4g method so you will need to research if your phone isn't the same which I assume it isnt but this will give you an idea whats involved and the steps. As far as rooting you can find that anywhere on xda for model specifics. Hope this helps

I have "rooted" the Nexus and relax it was so or to easy to do, I would never hold anyone at fault because a hacker is suppose to be able to accept defeat but I rooted it in 45 seconds. Thank you for all your help, now I need to find if I can flash it to Boos. Last question, "If I flash my Nexus to Metropcs does it have ALL the funcionality as it does with Verizon?
if you flash it correctly or someone does it for you, most of your features will be there...I know a lot of people complained they didnt have data or MMS after but thats because the flashing wasn't done properly. You cannot "flash" to t-mobile, you can "sim unlock" a GSM phone to work on t-mobile but it would have to be an AT&T phone, not verizon or sprint since they will only pick up their respective frequencies within the states.

Wouldn't matter the market.
Tri-band Sprint phones can't have data & voice, unless you're on WiFi.
When VoIP gets around it won't be as big of a deal but I doubt that happens with VoLTE while this phone is around, probably in another year or 2 on those phones.
Hey guys. I have become increasingly frustrated with having no way to root this phone coming from a nexus in favor of battery life.
I was wondering if getting an ATT version and using it on t-mo towers is a good option seeing as that one is rootable. The thing I'd like to keep is WiFi calling as my office is a dead zone. Is the WiFi calling part of the radio? Is it hard ware specific? Just wanting some light shed on this issue. Thanks.
Why not just root? It is possible and fairly painless.

I've been scared by the downgrade process and seeing multiple people have bricked devices. I've also seen two different ways of doing it. I can't seem to find this TOT method everyone says works great and the other method with the kdz seems dangerous at best. Maybe you could share with me the safest way to go about getting root?
Not sure how they bricked, but if you follow the directions you'll be fine. The TOT method is the way to go imo. I downgraded, rooted, flashed recovery, rom and SuperSU in less than 15 minutes. Well worth it. Here's the link to the TOT method. Just scroll down til you see it.

I was in a similar situation. I rooted, flashed this t-mobile stock debloated rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2688981
Make sure to flash a D800 kernel for 4.4.2 and you should be good to go. The rom contains a t-mobile D801 kernel and if you simply flash the rom, you won't be able to boot into it and the phone will be softbricked.
I was able to use Wifi-calling after doing all of the above on an AT&T LG G2. I was also able to use t-mobile LTE so looks like the G2 is pretty flexible.

You can't use WiFi calling with an AT&T or any other SIM. WiFi calling (a necessity for me here in this valley with horrid coverage, but right over the in L.A. signal is fantastic)) is a proprietary, locked and restricted feature exclusive to (some) T-Mo branded devices with T-Mo kernels and T-Mo SIMS. There is no way around this.
In fact, I just read that TMOUS WiFi calling will finally be included in iOS 8 for T-Mo branded iPhones. My wife and her iPhone 5 has to stand in the front yard in order to take calls without dropping. I just laugh, but she has to have her iPhone.
