Hi,
This started happening a few days ago: every time I add a new contact on my phone through the Contacts app, I get a dialog box saying:
[create contact under account]:
[email protected]
Google
[email protected]
Phone-only, unsynced
Going into Contacts->Display Options, I see the following list of contacts to display:
* [email protected]:google
* whatsapp contacts
* [email protected]hone-only, unsynced
However, when I go under Accounts & Sync Settings, I don't see the second [email protected] account. I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of it -- it's highly annoying and I can't seem to understand how it appeared in the first place.
Any hints?

I don't like the in call wallpaper (green robot) on Android that appears when I am talking to someone not in my contacts list. Is there any way this can be changed?
Finally, is there a way to make Gmail app allow choosing from more than one email addresses when sending an email? I have configured three "Send From" addresses under my Google Apps email account but Gmail app shows only one (default).
Thanks much.
What do you want to do actually this was a different kind of querry......
Ok, so this is driving me absolutely nuts right now...
I have my facebook synced to my contacts and many of my phone numbers I have gotten from my facebook sync. OK so Joe Schmoe shows up IN MY CONTACTS LIST, phone number is there, profile picture is there, everything is great until I go to send Joe a text. I go into my text messages, start typing his name in the top contacts bar and nothing shows up in the drop down menu. Now lets say i get a text or call from Joe, it will not show his name or picture here either, only his phone number.
So I guess I have two options:
Fix this bull**** show everything shows up how it is supposed to
or
Someone wanna give me a way to export all of my facebook contacts into something or merge them with my current list so it works?
A whole other can of worms is the fact that you cannot edit any facebook sync'd contacts in any sort of way and i think this is the root of my problem...
same i want to sync my contacts from facebook keep their info there but then i sign out and poof their gone and i can't keep it that way? -_-;;
For most of my contacts, when I go to compose a new message and begin typing their name, their name shows up multiple times on the list.
I have gone into settings and only chosen "My Contacts" in gmail to show, which has each of my friends listed only ONCE, but some may have multiple numbers under their name (such as phone & google voice number). If their GV number shows up alongside their actual number it's not a problem, since it's only very few of my friends and sometimes I actually want to send a message to their GV instead of their phone.
The problem is that for contacts that I just have listed once in My Contacts, which most have only one number attached to their name, they'll show up twice and sometimes three or four times in the list.
For example:
- I have John Doe in My Contacts under gmail, and his number is +1-555-666-5555.
- I type "John" in the contact part of my text, and the following shows:
John - (+15556665555)
John Doe - (+15556665555)
John Doe - (+1-555-666-5555)
The name and number are obviously changed, but wtf.. why does it show up in various forms if I only actually have the last one in gmail?
i think it might be syncing off any linked accounts you have? such as Facebook maybe. you can go into the [John Doe] contact wherever u see multiple of the same #'s and you'll prob see the number show there multiple times too, reason is because some people have their # listed on their FB account and thats prob syncing into ur address book too. and their FB default name might be the other name showing, as opposed to like the nickname or w/e you'd use for them on your address book.
Thanks for the help, but that's not the issue. I made sure to go into Display Options and uncheck everything but "My Contacts" under Google. The problem still persists.
I know it's not a rom issue, because the same thing happened to me as soon as I got the phone.
Also, in the example I used (the name and number were changed, obviously), the friend I was looking at only had one number listed in the contacts list on gmail, yet it still shows a few variations on my phone.
Not really a big issue, just a nuisance.
Is there an all-in app which provides the following:
dialer
addressbook with all contacts
Contacts with phone numbers
Contacts with WLM/MSN
Contacts with Skype
Contacts with Google Talk
etc.
All contacts need to be merged so I have only 1 entry per person in the list.
Next to the entry I can see the online-status for the different protocols.
After selecting a contact I can choose how to contact them.
I can see WLM/GTalk/Skype settings in the defauls contactlist, but don't see the status and can't use it to connect. Only GTalk does work.
Is there such app?
Contapps looks a lot like I wanted.
Hi All,
I Have The Following Requirement In Android App.
1. I Have The Habit Of Saving All My Contacts In Gmail Contacts.
2. Most Of My Contacts Saved, Will Have Some Kind Of Dates, Updated. E.g Birthday, Anniversary Date, Custom Date Etc.
I Need An Application Which Should Do The Following...
1. Read The Dates From The Google Contacts List, On A Daily Basis.
2. Keep Reminding Me Daily On The Matching Names From The Contact List & Help Me Send A Message Or Call The Contact.
3. Remind Me 2 Days (Or Specified Days) In Advance About The Upcoming Date Reminders.
What I Don't Want To Do Is As Follows:
1. Since The Dates Are Already Updated In Google Contacts Once, I Do Not Want To Retype It Again And Create Another List For Any Other Application.
Any Such Application From Google Or Any Third Party Vendor????:angel:
