Just wondering if anybody else browses the Battle.net Starcraft 2 forums on their Captivate and if you have issues. With Eclair it was no problem. Then I switched to the official release of Froyo and the whole battle.net site and forums are basically unusable, it is so freaking slow.
So I decided it was time to switch to a custom ROM and went with Serendipity 5.12 (now on 6.2) and the problem persists. It feels like the CPU jumps to 100% and I can't hardly do anything. No other webpages perform like this and I have reflashed several times.
Anybody else ran into this?

No need to be sorry about lyfao but what exactly are you lyfao about? I have observed a distinct difference between the behavior of the web browser on a particular webpage between 2.1 and 2.2 that is bugging the hell out of me. And I'm trying to figure out if it's something I can fix and if anyone else has observed similar behavior. But thanks for replying to my thread, buddy!

What's wrong with browsing the Starcraft site? It's an awesome game.
Anyway, I don't do it on my Cappy but I'm guessing the speed might be flash related? That'd be the major difference between 2.1 and 2.2.
Have you tried other browsers?

Go into your browser and hit menu, then more, then settings, then enable plugins, then on demand or always off. That should speed things up a bit.

I've never done so myself, though I am quite the sc2 fan, working on getting to masters.
Loaded up the forums on the phone, at first it was snappy. Then the phone got very laggy when scrolling and very choppy.
I found that zooming in, signifigantly helped, however the webpage, by default, loads zoomed out. This made for a very frustrating experience when flipping through pages.
I played around with the settings, I left the phone with 2 non default choices. Default zoom, close. Javascript off. I found this made for a very snappy experience, loading pages was quick, smooth, and scrolled nicely. I hope this fixes your issue.
Yeah I noticed its super slow as hell. I don't know why

Guys thanks for the suggestions, the browser settings tweaks seem to have helped a bit (although it is still flakey). I tried Firefox and it seemed better as well but I don't know... Firefox seems really clunky to me I can't really stand using it. Maybe I'll try another browser but with the tweaks it's more usable.

Ok guys I know I posted this before but I want to see if anyone is experiencing the same problem as I am. When I was running 2.1 Eclair on my captivate stock, the browser never lagged. It was very smooth in scrolling and never "hitched or stuttered" when scrolling pages. After I updated to Froyo(I'm with Rogers) via kies it seems that the Brower lags a whole lot more. I used to go to ESPN to check my fantasy team on the desktop site with no problems, and now sometimes its fine but most of the time there is lots of lag... I'm very frustrated with this because you would think that your phone will get faster after upgrading the OS but apparently not... I've heard about that whole memory leak problem with Froyo, is that the problem most likely, and will they update? Thoughts....
PS: I used to have a Sony Xperia X10 running 1.6 and the browser had no problems whatsoever... It's really a shame that the Captivate is subpar to a 1.6 device...
May want to check if enable plug-ins is set to always on. If it is you can change it to on demand or off. This controls the flash plug in, if you don't care about flash content at all I would just set it to off.
I've turned it off, on, on demand, it doesn't seem to make much of a difference... It only really helps if there is some pesky add in the background using flash.

Then I am not sure. I haven't noticed any browser lag at all unless I was on a flash heavy site.
I suggest trying Dolphin Browsers. It is amazing and quite fast. Must faster than stock
Opera mobile ( not mini) is really the fastest browser ive used.
opera mobile.. I'll give that a shot I guess.

wow keyboard lag system lag!!!!! NOT HAPPY!!!!
keyboard lag reached a new high when browsing forums and larger webpages.
I AM NOT AMUSED
Slower here, transitions are even worse than before
Quandrant went from 2000 to 1500!
I'm am seeing all of the above - starting to wish I hadn't upgraded. Scalable widgets are great but not worth the slow-down - especially as I don't even have the option of a gmail widget at the moment!

I have to agree with you. In general my experience has been pleasant. Although I haven't had the update for very long I have had to force stop the browser as it got extremely slow and wouldn't load pages (at one point the page was just lines of green) properly after a while of use. Has anyone come across this issue?
Well I have to say I'm really happy with the update so far. I've still got my Gmail widget and i don't see any lag at all. Typing has been a breeze, before it used to lag a hell of a lot but I'm typing pretty fast ATM and its keeping up with me no problem. I've also seen that some people cannot get the zinio app to work and I've been on mine and it works perfectly.
I don't understand how some people are getting different things from the same uodate.
Mabee because people rooted or summit? I've not touched mine its stock, although I wouldn't have thought that would have been a problem at all.

+1.. 3.1 is working flawlessly on my TF.. everything seems a lot more responsive
I am a bit confused about the different user experiences since upgrading also. I guess my unit was from one of the first batches as I have had it since a few days after launch, but I haven't put any custom roms or rooted or anything. And still I am getting a worse experience since upgrading, along with missing gmail widget.
Think I will have to do a factory reset and see if that fixes things

No lag here, it feels more tweaked out, youtube is fast, and the so called jutter effect while using the slider in the browser is'nt that bad as i saw in some vids.

After using the TF for some time after boot, the browser seems to force close without any error every time I open it and browse to a webpage. a reboot fixes it for awhile.
The you tube app works fine but I was trying to play a vimeo HD video in the browers and it wasn't pretty. audio is smooth but the video was just black for awhile and then showed up and started chopping.
I'm running the leaked 3.1
Overall performance seems good though.
Just did the ota upgrade last night and been browsing and checking youtube. Everything is working better for me.
Smooth browser scrolling
Can load large webpages
Keyboard lag much improved. Not perfect but workable.
720p video in youtube is smooth
Not fixed though is my weather widget on the home page. Will cut off the temperature a bit if rotating a certain way. No biggie.
Overall, I feel much better about this device.

Is it just me or do guys notice a pretty bad glitch when scrolling down web pages on the default browser? Just wondering if their is a way to fix that problem other then to use another browser like opera. Reason I ask is because I only use the default browser to pay online bills and that glitch while scrolling it's really annoying. Don't think it'll make a difference but I'm using infused 1.5.3
thanks.

IV had a few loading issues glitchy/laggy. But It may of been a network issue while loading. I use dolphin browser HD now seen less issues using it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
With the dolphin web browser can it give you the option to respond to web forums that aren't compatible with tapatalk I noticed opera mobile or mini can't do that.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997
Testing from dolphin browser oh I guess it works nice guess this will be my default browser d from now on
If its the "checkering" you are talking about... All you have to do is let the page load all the way. This issue has been discussed already. The other browsers might do it less, but I like the stock one better.
My bad-ass Infuse

I was thinking about getting the phone but this is holding me back.
Sent from my ADR6350 using XDA App
Given that you seem to have an issue with any Samsung phone you have, regardless of how big or small the problem is, you're probably better off just not getting it, because even if the "browser lag" is fixed, you'll just find another thing to complain about.
Next he will be complaining about the lack of an LED and saying BLN is not a valid replacement.

No offense, but that is pretty sad if that is the "only" thing causing you to pack up the Charge. What do you like about the stock browser so much that you don't use an alternative anyway? If the problem doesn't exist for the other browsers, why not just use one of them? I can think of a handful of others that are much better than the stock browser anyway.
Seems like you are just trying to bash Samsung for no particular reason.
No im not bashing. I had it once before. And got rid of it for that reason. But i heard the lag was fixed. That why I ASKED IN THIS POST ..... The reason i like the stock browser is it handles alot of webpages better.... Format wise. Its just a taste. Trust i would rather be on a 4g phone.... The thunderbolt was just to big and heavy for me. So i went with the charge. Not bashing... Not meant that way.
Sent from my ADR6350 using XDA App
Stock browser consumes extreme amounts of CPU.
Do not use
Not gonna bother reading the thread still gonna chime in through, the stock browser sucks but if you're asking about the glitch that was in all the DC reviews where flash froze the browser, then that has been fixed a long time ago.
Also, for browsers I'd suggest replacing stock with Dolphin HD(or Mini, uses less resources) or Opera.
I'm about to go pick one up at the AT&T store and had 3 questions before I do..
1) I heard that the Web Browsing isn't smooth... like when you double-tap to zoom in or pinch-to-zoom it freezes and loads or whatever.
2) When you are recording video; it has terrible frame rate when you are moving the camera around...
3) Is this phone worth it?

I have taken several videos and haven't had any framerate drops. That's not saying it doesn't happen, but it hasn't happened to me yet.
The stock browser does have some jerkiness due to the text reflow. Some don't like the reflow, but I absolutely love it. If this bothers you, you can use another browser. Chrome Beta and Opera work great on this phone.

Just my personal experience, but I find the Chrome browser to perform poorly on this phone, compared to Opera Mini or the stock browser. I was running a vanilla ICS rom on my DHD and Chrome worked great on that.
That aside, I do find some weird jitters in the stock browser. Honestly though, it's not that bad. Usually only has a noticeable effect if I try to zoom on a page while it's still loading. Also, zooming in on plain text files (like game walkthroughs) seems to lose your place in the file, even though the text doesn't get reflowed.
