2.2 Freezes, won't lock - Samsung Mesmerize

So does anyone elses phone ever randomly freeze when you try to lock it, take a screenshot, and then won't lock for like 3 minutes? It's not a big deal it's just a hassle to constantly deal with. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yeah I had the no lock and freezing "issues" I never had the screen shot problem tho. I never use touchwiz launcher either tho. When I first flashed a couple of themes on sfc rom my phone wouldn't ever lock when I pushed the power button but I do think it did when I just let the screen shut off on it's own. my phone really only froze up on me when I overclocked it to 1.3ghz. When in doubt wipe both caches and reflash.
Also what are you running on your phone? Will help others to see if issues are consistent to certain roms/themes/mods or just randomesss.

I have had my phone do that, some launchers take a screen shot when you press the back key and the lock button simultaneously. I think sometimes these soft keys "get stuck", causing that. I know I've had it happen to my home key too, causing the task manager to keep popping up (very annoying).
Usually mashing the problematic key a couple times clears it up and it acts normal again. Mind you, this only happens every now and then.
Oh, and I say some launchers because I have been running AOSP launcher for a decent while now.

[Q] SPB Shell touchscreen issues

I used this home app on my vibrant running CM7 and never had an issue. Now that im running it on my G2x it is very difficult to select icons on the screen to move them around. Sometimes I have to hold my finger for up to 10 seconds over an icon. Does anyone else use this app and have you notcied these problems?

Did you reinstall it from backup or fresh install from market?
Mine works just fine. I've never really had touch screen problems with any app.
I have noticed lag for this app at initial start up......and then upon the initial opening of the app-drawer.....I also noticed it does that on the vibrant as well....
I've noticed it also, actually it was worse before the update. Its a lil better now but it still does glitch from time to time. But make no mistake, its the very best at what it does. It'll get better once they fiddle around with theses dual cores.

Phone turns off when I try to unlock?

I'm running GingerBeast right now and everyone once in a while(once or twice a day, some days it won't happen) when I hit the power button to get to the unlock screen, I'll see the softkeys light up for a second and then my phone turns off. I have to hit the power button again for my phone to boot up. I was using CM7 before I changed to GingerBeast and the same thing was happening. I've also tried different radios with and there was no difference.
Could this be a bad root? Should I delete everything and try again or what?

Wont help I get the same thing sometimes. Its weird, I think its a sequence that causes It. I noticed the last two times I was walking and holding it and swinging my arms. It vibrates sometimes when I do this and if I hit the wake button right after its reboots.

Have you tried any other ROMs before?
this happens to me sometimes on MIUI
Did any of u restore any system data or any apps + data using TiBu after u flashed whatever ROM u r using?
I would recommend flashing ROM CLEAN from scratch, and not restoring ANY info using TiBu, and using it for a day and see if the issue resurfaces.
yes diablo has a good point. Also, what is your setcpu set to on boot? This could cause instability if you clock high on boot.

On my girlfriends phone I have noticed this too. Always thought it had something to do with the undervolt and waking up.

this happened to me when i had a lockscreen widget installed i uninstalled and its fine now. dont know if your using a lockscreen widget or not but thats what was screwing mine up

Weird bug/problem with my phone (launcher pro?)

Ok so starting today I started having this weird problem with my phone freezing/stuttering/getting stuck between home screens and idk why it happens. Everything seems fine then when I swipe between my screens it kind gets stuck halfway between them and won't let me do anything to go to the next one. Locking the phone and unlocking it fixes the problem temporarily but it keeps happening.
Running gingerclone v2.0 (fully updated)
Launcher pro with 7 home screens with looping on
I havnt flashed anything since the 2nd update of gingerclone v2.0 so I don't know what caused it. I would take a screen shot but it happens randomly and when it does I can't go to open shootme cuz the screens won't move all the way to tap on anything. Any ideas guys?

Mytouch 4g slide keeps freezing

Hey all, i don't know if there's already a thread about this but i did a quick search and didn't really find one about my problem.
Anyways, my girlfriend has a mytouch 4g slide and it keeps freezing on her. If she's in a call, she can stay in the call but won't be able to hang up or use the screen in any way until a restart. She is completely stock. This is the second mytouch for her with the same problem. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Well when I was stock, I never had any problems like this. I have heard about people having screen freezes with regards to the call screen, however. It could easily be one of the apps that she downloaded. It might be worth it to try a factory reset if the problem is persistent. Not to mention that sounds like a pretty annoying issue.
Yeah, we tried a factory reset before and it didn't work.

Huh, I talked to her more about this issue and it seems that it only freezes during a call. She didn't realize it until I asked her specifically about it. So any way to fix this issue.

If a factory reset doesn't solve your problem, you have two options:
Root and install a custom rom (could be a stock rom problem, even though it shouldn't be)
Get it replaced under warranty
is the device completely frozen, or can she get the screen to turn on by pressing the trackpad or something? come to think of it, the sensor doesn't seem to work perfectly on my device, so sometimes when i want to hang up a call, i need to press the trackpad to get the screen to turn on. i have never had the device become totally unresponsive tho.
Well, she says the screen is on but nothing happens when she taps it. The only way so far to get her phone to work again is a battery pull.
This is already a warranty replaced phone for the same problem. I would root her phone, but she is in San Francisco and I'm not. She is also not very tech savvy so she can't do it herself.

Have her try using GO! Dailer/Contacts. I know this issue is based within the Call Out screen. But try using GO! It can also an out of Ram issue. On stock, the more widgets you use. The worse the phone gets. You'll see that HTC Logo all the time. My Uncle has this phone, and he's 100% stock. He gets freezes, and the HTC Logo screen after every app. Since the phone has the highest priority in a call, in can be using to much RAM. Then the phones doing a Rosie reboot with out the HTC scrreen.
If she wants to. Install Zeam Launcher. She won't have any Sense widgets. But it'll free up about 120Mb of Ram. Then place the call, and see if it lags.

After a warranty replacement for my old phone, I haven't had time to fight rooting and have been experiencing similar issues... Memory mgmt seems to be cause. Ive removed some apps and it has reduced issues.
On initial use of phone, I reset it, inserted a full battery and followed the general "let it set" rules for a fresh rom install. At first, all was great, everything worked perfect. But as I added apps, it grew less stable. Also seeing phone freeze when rebooting into recovery... Eek. Tried multiple sd cards, batteries, to no avail.
Gonna call for another replacement. Ugh. Wrty is up in a couple months...

I've had a couple of freezes happen to me during phone calls and I realize what the problem was. It was apps automatically downloading in the background from the Play Store. If an auto update for apps is happening and I receive a phone call at the same time my phone will become unresponsive for a few minutes.

So this GO! Dialer, would it help with the freezing issue? I don't see how using another app would help with the memory issue. Does Zeam Launcher require root?

Phone Locking Up

I'm hoping that this isn't a unique problem just for me but this is literally the first time I've had this problem. Depending on the use of my Note 5 will determine if I can even unlock my phone the next time I turn it on. I'll go about my usual use of any phone should be able to accomplish (browsing Instagram/Facebook/Chrome/Email/Pinterest/etc.). After a little while it become noticeable that the phone is starting to slow down considerably if I continue to use it. However, the one that really grinds my gears is I'll do my typical browsing and then lock my phone, put it back in my pocket. Something we all do, however, the next time I go to pull out my phone I can't even get the screen to come on for sometimes five minutes. I can hear it thinking with random sounds of the lock screen either responding to my fingers touching the screen or the un/lock sound but nothing happens. Sometimes, I can see the screen and all the notifications that I want to check on but nothing is happening. Sometimes, I'll double tap the home button to get to the camera shortcut programmed to it and sometimes the camera app comes up like it should but it is completely unresponsive.
So the steps I've tried to resolve the issue:
Restore to Stock ROM
Different ROMs
Even leaving the Stock ROM alone and just seeing if it still occurs
I'm just not sure what to try next. There's a chance the problem could be a memory error that's occurring physically but I'm not 100% sure.
Attached is my Note 5's current state of customization. Any help with this would be very very much appreciated.
Thank you

Have you removed or disabled any system files? Also have you tweaked the kernel in any way?
I will say that I've had issue with v11 of that kernel you are using. I bounce between v4.1 and Sky-high v4.5 depending on what I need my phone for that day.

I will give those a try. Thank you!
