I'm come across a lot of people that want to get MLB At Bat 11 working fully on all devices. Currently everything works fine except you can't stream the live games unless you have an approved device. I have a DROID2 that works fine, took the apk, and put it on my Nook Color, and chagned the build.prop to the verizon galaxy tab, another approved device, and it doesn't give me the option to watch the games. Anyone have an idea?
where is the list of handsets that have been approved for steaming? I have a Samsung Vibrant and bought the app but have not seen the streaming option. yes, i'm a MLB.tv subscriber.

Go to the market and look for the app and it will have a list of devices that are compatible for streaming live video.
They say that more devices will come, but I'm not sure why it isn't on all devices. I'm thinking it is a network reason, not to flood the bandwidth right away. Think it should be a pretty quick fix.

They mention needing flash, so could that be why some devices aren't there? I'm not up to date on which devices are on 2.2 by now
most devices have it now. I have flash on all my devices and Flash works great.
Just to consolidate some info from other threads (good call on opening this one up in the general section, jkabaseball.)
Devices supported:
Sprint HTC Evo, Verizon HTC Droid Incredible, Verizon Motorola Droid X, Verizon Motorola Droid, Verizon Motorola Droid 2, Verizon Motorola Droid Pro, Verizon HTC Thunderbolt, Samsung Galaxy Tab, HTC Nexus One, T-Mobile Samsung Nexus S, T-Mobile HTC Glacier (myTouch 4G). Minimum OS 2.2 and Installed Flash.
build.prop hack tried (this was an attempt to get a Nook to spoof a Galaxy Tab)
ro.build.fingerprint=google/passion/passion:2.3.3/GRI40/102588:user/release-keys
to
ro.build.fingerprint=samsung/GT-P1000/GT-P1000/GT-P1000:2.2/FROYO/XXJJ3:user/release-keys
I also tried to pull a logcat while the app was starting up, but didn't see anything that looked helpful in there. If someone with more knowledge of this would like me to post that, let me know.
The only other opening I can think of is perhaps more of the build.prop needs to be edited in order to convince the app you're running a supported device. There are definitely more parts of it that could, in theory, be used to identify the device, but I was under the impression that ro.build.fingerprint was all that really mattered. If someone with more experience messing around with build.prop could weigh in, that'd be awesome.
It has to also be a device and carrier setting somewhere. The galaxy tab works if you have the verizon one, but no other one. I'm not sure how much it helps, but more information the better. I don't see verizon mentioned in the ro.build.fingerprint.
There's all kind of carrier/device stuff in the build.prop. From the one on my Nook:
ro.product.model=NookColor
ro.product.brand=bn
ro.product.name=encore
ro.product.device=encore
ro.product.board=encore
...
...
...
ro.product.manufacturer=bn
And then, perhaps most tantalizing of all...
# ro.build.product is obsolete; use ro.product.device
ro.build.product=encore
That, to me, seems like a decent place to start. The only problem is, lacking a build.prop from a Tab, I'm not sure what anything should be changed to.
As such: Maybe we're going about this backwards. What would be great is if we had someone with a Verizon Tab as a guinea pig. They could then do the following:
1. Secure a build.prop from a T-Mobile Tab.
2. Note which lines in the two build.props are different.
3. One at a time, change a line in the Verizon build.prop to the corresponding TMO build.prop, rebooting and then trying to stream between each one.
4. In theory, once it stops working, the last one that was changed is your culprit.
Failing that, if we could just get our hands on a full Verizon build.prop, we could take a stab at spoofing ALL of the relevant information to the best of our ability.
Going to try this once I can get a build.prop. You think I could extract it up from a ROM or update.zip?
Yeah, it should just be within /system of any rom you can track down.

I got streaming to work on my Vibrant by editing my bulid.prop to spoof the phone as a Nexus S. I didn't experiment with which one is actually getting read by the app but I changed the following (edited with SGS tools):
Code:
ro.product.model=Nexus S
ro.product.brand=Google
ro.product.name=sodu
ro.product.device=crespo
After rebooting the phone and launching I got the option to stream a game in the quick menu on the default scoreboard page.
I also get the option, but it hangs on "Getting Current Location". Also seems to have made a few apps disapear when my phone boots up.
I have a Galaxy S... similar hardware to the Nexus S but does anyone know whether changing the build.prop as described by dvinnen will cause problems with other apps or phone functions?
I haven't run into any issues with it yet but I could see there being problems. An app might think you have the NFS radio or something. Worth it, for me atleast, to be able to watch games on my phone.
It is poor resolution though, dunno why they can't do a h.264 stream instead of a flash stream.
I have followed dvinnen 's build.prop settings on my Viewsonic Gtablet running vegan 5.1.1 and have not gotten the mlb.tv option to show up.
Also - strangely, the app never asks for my user/pass, even after i have cleared cache and data for it ... weird.
I would like to be able to watch games on my nice tablet sized screen .. but no luck so far.
Any info is appreciated.
Do you have the paid app? Or just the free one?

it was doing that for me too, so i used "location spoofer" that i dled from the android market to spoof my location to anywhere outside the blacked out area of the game youre trying to watch. worked for me after that...

First off, yes I did a search, both on XDA and via Google, and I turned up plenty of mentions, but no actual links.
The official AIM app for Android was released a while back, and it worked great (for me anyway); well, lo and behold my N1 was stolen on Sunday (bastards... WaveSecure's gonna put'em in jail tho), and I just got my replacement today. After rooting and flashing CM 5.0.6 and trying to restore everything to the way it was pre-theft, wouldn't you know it, the app no longer seems to be on the market. Anybody got the APK? Got it installed and can link up a copy from an Astro backup? It'd be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Yes I know there are other apps that provid AIM functionality. Yes I know about the issues many have had with the official app. Yes I'm still pissed that my N1 was stolen. Yes I'm gonna be selling an N1 for a low price once I get the stolen one back (and I'm praying I do). Thx for your concern and your help.
Can't help you with the actual AIM app, btu I can suggest eBuddy as an alternative.
I got the apk but I'm put right now. too bad I don't know how files.

^it's no rush, my dude. If you get around to uploading it when you get home or whenever you have time (assuming you meant you're "out" and I'm not misunderstanding), I'd greatly appreciate it.
When I can't find an app in the Market I can usually get the app wit Market Enabler and switching back and forth with T-Mobile and AT&T. It will usually work for at least one reboot if I fake a provider, reboot, fake the same provider again after the boot, open Market. T-Mobile is 310260. At&t is 310410.
BTW and off topic, does anyone know a place to find a list of ALL the different gsm.sim.operator.numeric values for all the world's Android Markets? That would be a big help.
Anyway, here's the official AIM app. Enjoy.
Hmmm, I just typed AIM and it was the first app in the Market to download.
As for selling the stolen phone, doesn't the IMIE or whatever its called get blacked listed/banned?
That's interesting... it's now showing up for me as well. It looked like a newer version than the one I installed though, it prompted me to "update" to 1.5.5.1 I believe it was; Astro shows the version I downloaded yesterday as being v1.5.5.1 however. Wierd.
I kid you not though, it wasn't showing up yesterday. I even went to the AIM mobile site and tried to get it via the QR code on the page, market found nothing. Odd.
Edit: Also, about the other phone... that's a good question. I guess we'll see if/when the other N1 is returned to me. *shrug*
Well I'm writing this because of the complaints of lagginess and/or crap from AT&T.
While I'm not a dev genius, I do know my way around iPhone OS and WM and Android is coming pretty naturally to me. IF YOU JUST READ THREE THREADS YOU CAN HAVE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PHONE. There. I said it.
Seriously, if you are complaining about it being laggy, its because the ATT crapware likes to turn on for no reason in the background. REMOVE it!
Install Titanium Backup, allow it to update and then go to manage and uninstall ONLY ATT APPS. don't get rid of google apps or **** goes crazy
If you're complaining about not being able to install LauncherPro or easytheter, learn how to sideload! Seriously, you can use adb and droid explorer if you'd like (really simple) or you can edit ONE LINE in your database and get it directly on your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728121
If you're wondering how to do all this, just ROOT. It takes 30 seconds, it's longer to reboot the phone than to root it. Just get the update, it does absolutely nothing to your phone, just installs superuser.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=725555
I'm just getting pissed because this is supposed to be a poweruser site and lots people here are just bickering about things when they could simply fix them.
I know my account doesn't have many posts, but I've been around (Didn't feel like keeping TyTNic_Dev was fitting considering I haven't had the TyTN for about 4 years now) And while I'll try and contribute what I can, IMO this subforum would be alot cleaner if everyone stopped complaining and kept everything relevent.
Talking about how you "hate the phone, its so laggy need to go back to iPhone" or just "don't understand what all the fuss about Android is" just GTFO, or leach off everyones contributions. It really drags the thread down when people have all that hate and negativity. Especially when a few tweaks and the phone runs like a dream.
I've rooted, enabled sideload, and removed bloatware, as soon as I get all the kinks in my flash plugin, I'll have a phone that is as powerful (or even better) than anything else currently on the market. I suggest you do the same, then you'll probably be singing its praises as well.
ok..phew..

so yeah, root and fix the phone. you'll be glad you did

I dont think this is true. I've never once seen it just start itself up.
But yes, rooting is easy, but there's not a whole bunch of reason to do it quite yet.
Edit- there's also not much reason to NOT do it either.
I agree with you 100%. Like yoursef, im not one to have tons of replies, but ive been following XDA since my Tilt (not tilt 2). I think the issue is that we have a lot of new followers (welcome!) coming over from the Iphone and they are not use to what this board is all about.These arent apps you just install, this is software development/enhancements all in one place. Hopefully when the WIKI is back up (or created rather), there can be a nice "how to" section for everyone to reference.

I just restarted my phone, and there was a huge list of apps that were running right off of startup. A lot were at&t (naviagtor, ect.) and some were not.
EDIT- I know a lot of people are talking abut the lag due to the samsung UI, but I really dont care about the live wallpapers and I have a regular background so I dont get any lag at all. I am excited about the 2.2 update to gain the speed and access to the other 256mb or RAM. That alone will make this device a great phone. I am really enjoying android verses my WiMo devices (tilt 2 was the latest).

Thanks guys, yeah whenever you start ANY navigator app, att navi will start (its triggered by the gps starting) when you start any music player att music starts (it is triggered by com.google.music(sic))
these little things can be avoided and lets be honest, the stock touchwiz music player is really good. I have copilot so no reason to pay att. Navigation is a top notch free gps too.
the only one I could see is maybe you like mobitv, that is actually pretty decent of an app, but things like allsport, where, ypmobile, all of these can be accomplished using the browser.
I'll edit the post to include the links, but I just feel like when I'd be working on code or something, if someone was whining it wouldn't motivate me.. Why would I wanna program the Captivate (apart form sheer love) for people who'd just complain you know?
I'm messing around with the sdk and what not and I just got me a second Captivate so i'll be doing all sorts of tests to see what it'll take to get stock froyo on it, but i'm still a novice so i'll keep updating everyone and hopefully we can get 2.2 as a community
@V DidDy 210 I like your attitude. I hope more devs like you come around to the captivate scene as I would and the community as well would greatly appreciate it. I know I will. I will try my best to contribute and help with any interesting development on this device.
I have rooted and removed the AT&T and many of the Samsung apps, but that didn't really change anything. If it were just those then owners of the International versions of the Galaxy S wouldn't be having the same issues. I think the problem is much more than AT&T bloatware.

Being a running process and actually consuming resources are two different things and I'm not seeing anything worth making a big deal about since they are just sitting in memory.

What is your problem? Is it laggy? I haven't noticed any lag on mine, I've removed the bloat (all of it) rooted (obviously) added sideloading, installed flash 10 and check all the dbs for any scripts that might still be activating unnecessary scripts.
I haven't found any, and unless I actively run something (widgets or apps) nothing is running on its own. Only the most rudimentary of services run in the background (unless I tell something to) and my phone is 99% lag free. It is laggy at startup while it is parsing through my media files and it is laggy when I have a bunch of apps open (I'm talking around 16-17) otherwise in day to day operation (browsing, phone calls, music listening, watching movies while on the treadmill, etc.) I have no problems.
I'll try and help you, just need more info on whats going on

This is true, but while they are running there they still consume even the smallest amounts of usable memory...unless you like the ATT apps there isn't any real reason to keep them. Even if it uses 1kb of ram...its still 1kb of ram wasted
Excellent post but more importantly.... it seems to be a very necessary post. I loved the site when I had my Hermes, Kaiser, Touch, and other HTC devices ~2006 - 2008 but now that I came back with my Android device, it definitely seems like the tone has changed.
My question its are we all having the same problem? I experience lag, unresponsive touch due to lag also a black screen that hangs when you open a app. If so, I'm rooting right now. Please some one confirm. BTW this its a universal problem with all Samsung galaxy s phone. So I'm inclined to think its the firmware not the att bloatware.

LOL. I thought you were serious for a moment.
Has anyone been able to get the Netflix app to work on their GS4G? I installed it but it says my device is not supported. The GS4G is not officially supported yet, but was curious if any developers were trying to get it to work? I can get to the login screen, but when I hit login it just shuts down. I have been waiting forever for this app!
I heard that it only worked on a certain type of processor or something? I also tried intalling it, but as soon as I try and login, it just closes the app instantly. I heard other people get it working on galaxy S models though. Some with and without custom firmware.
It says right in the app description its only for 4 different htc phones and the nexus s. It's been heavily discussed that changing the build.prop wont do a thing. It is a rom problem. Not an identifying problem.
I have the g2 which is a supported model, even then since i'm not running the stock rom it wont work.
i've been following this closely, and from what i can gather, only galaxy S variants running 2.3 have been able to get the netflix app to work.
Although this is the right place to discuss, there has been talk about it in here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076508
I wish people would read and post things in the correct place. Not directed at you.
i installed a new rom on the mytouch 4g with sense 3.0 (god i wish we can customize our phones grrr) and netflix works flawlessly. its all about the rom. so once we get some custom roms ..tick tock...we can use it too! come on dev's no rush, but i'm getting antsy in my pantsy to flash some roms since i came from the hd2 to this phone. i have to feed my flashing addiction on my gf's mt4g which doesn't go over so well most of the time lol.
I currently have a Thunderbolt that just recently became close to unusable to me. (The power button does not work without me jamming it into an edge of a table or wall...I heard this is a common problem). I talked to Verizon, I didn't have insurance since I've never needed it before, all my previous phones have worked so well, and they could not offer me any good options, I'd have to buy a new phone at sticker price.
So I thought to hit up eBay to see what I could get. Then I realized, there are no phones out there that really call out to me as of yet. So then I had an idea, why don't I just get a phone that is easy to root/customize/hack, but use it normally until I do find a phone that does stand out to me. That way, when I do get a NEW phone, I'll have a secondary to "play" around with.
I am a software developer and know a thing or two about OSs and ROMs but not a whole lot. I've hacked various things like 360/Wii games down to the binary level, not "Hi I edited a text file and gave me more $$$ in my game, I'm 733t". That being said, I'm not interested in using easy 1-click install programs to customize the phone. I actually want to understand how it all works. Basically, I just want a phone that acts as a playground that I can just play around with. Any idea's what phone would be best for what I seek? Sorry, I am restricted to a phone that works on the Verizon network, but if there is a phone outside of Verizon that stands out too, I wouldn't mind hearing about it, but I need a Verizon phone unfortunately.
Also, I'd rather have a phone that has a little kick too (hardware-wise)...no sense in hacking an Atari when you can hack an Xbox, if you catch my drift.
I have a fascinate, and it's pretty easily hackable and nearly impossible to brick. very glad I made the decision to get this phone.

I took took the apk off of my SGS2, added all the extra downloadable files, and used CF3D Nvidia plug-in. I can start the app, but when it tries to download the extra files it says my device is incompatible and gives an option to proceed. When I click Okay it just closes out.
Anyone have it working or have ideas on how to get it to work? I really want to enjoy this game on my tab.
Thanks
Just a quest, are you able to find this game in Play Store by searching from the Tab?
If answer is NO, it's pretty easy that this one is really not compatible with Honeycomb based device.
You know, I have had lots of experiences such yours. I bought the first Honeycomb device in the world last year (Motorola Xoom), and I have had soooo many issues like yours who let me hate this OS. I even changed build.prop device name to bring Google Market to let me download some thing they run, but then... They crash!
Fortunally I got soon ICS and everything is different right now. But you cannot pretend to run an app which is just not compatible with your device platform

ro.product.device=GT-I9100
ro.build.product=GT-I9100
I didn't change
ro.product.board=GT-P6210
I started changing one at a time cause I was scared (first build.product, then product.device, then product.model and product.name)
Is this going to mess anything up?
