Same problem here...Can someone please ADB PULL /system/bin/sh from a rooted phone and upload here please.I cannot ADB shell my phone after changing some system files on it.It's giving "exec /system/bin/sh Permission Denied (13) error.
Won't turn on now very disappointed wiht this phone now, all the messing I did with the Galaxy S2 and never a hitch and this just goes like this how pathetic.
I rooted the phone 5 days ago and all has been fine never been a problem, I can't even remember what app I had installed now it was something off the market, I rebooted the phone as it went slow and this is the outcome.
This has put me off this phone if I manage to get it replaced it will be sold on.
yep i had same problem twice, was always when I'd filled up internal memory to almost full and tried to uninstall something it would keep saying uninstalling and just hang there so I had to reboot and it would hang on LG. But did three button combo reboot and wiped the phone through that and it rebooted..
I can't seem to get the 3 button wipe to work, I can get in a screen via power and volume down which has factory data reset/wipe etc.
Also the battery is really low now on the last bar, when I plug it in usb for example it starts the phone and stops on the battery screen with it flashing on and off in the red, even if I plug the mains in it doesn't seem to charge.
I have countless times installed the usb drivers again and keep getting LGE Virtual Modem ready to use, but OMAP4430 no driver found.
that was when I had original recovery and not clockwork mod, there was a format partition and recover package option or something along those lines..so maybe doesn't work now with clockwork mod. All I know is I'm not going to fill internal memory up too full and try and uninstall anything as that's when it broke twice for me. Did you backup your phone with clockwork mod?

Unfortunately not didn't use clockwork mod, I don't even think its charging the battery as it just flashes on the last red bar, I even left it in the charger all night.
I fail to believe this sort of thing can just happen like that, its not even like Samsung where you can pretty much recover anything when this happens seems very limited this phone.
Can't use the updater as it says Disconnected Please connect your phone
Edit> It is charging it must have been very very low as its taken ages just to get one green bar.
this may not work on the o3d but it works on the old droids/milestone.
if you remove the battery and plug it into the wall then insert the battery for a second and remove it again immediately the phone should boot on just mains power.
Just not having anything done the factory reset thing but its the same all the time does the first lg boot then you see the animated part then it just hangs on the lg screen, you get the small vibration it does but just doesn't boot after that.

Punctuation is the last thing on my mind , I have a £450 phone that is knackered and hope they will take it back and replace it.
I have spent a day looking around the internet and have come up with nothing and keeping my eye on this forum, forgive me for not caring about what I am writing.
Actually something similiar happened to me.. my phones battery was totally drained and I didn't know. So just try to let it charge fully if you haven't already.

surely now the battery has some charge you can just reflash it thusly...

I'm in Burton on Trent, if you want to pop over and try my battery in your phone I'd be happy to let you try that.
Think if you've not messed with it you may as well try and get a new phone/refund.

Thanks for the offer but I have charged the battery but its the same thing, it hangs on the LG logo and nothing happens.
I phoned up LG and they say it sounds like a software failure so I have sent it back to the place I go it, just have to wait for a replacement.
I only did the first step. I see I have lost the superuser icon and lost the button for TV out in the Display settings. With Serendipity I had a button that didn't work. Now I have a stock looking handset with all the bloatware from ATT and Samsung, and can't find any button to use HDMI. I did the download mode and tried this thinking the HDMI would work and I'm chicken to try step 2.
It is to download Defuse 1.5
It says it lets you flash a rom with CWM. Can I avoid step two and try Superoneclick?
Now, I hold the buttons and see blue recovery the way it sits now I don't see advanced, and therefore no wiping any Delvic Cache (whatever that is LOL) Blue recovery looks like it could wipe and flash, maybe don't worry about Delvic?
Oh and now I don't have root!?
I'm a newbie, can you tell? Point me to some more stuff to read. I quit while I'm ahead and don't wanna brick LOL
also I can't put my phone in download anymore, and it says follow the instructions above
pulling / replacing battery, then holding down both volume buttons while pluging in the usb cable doesn't put you in download mode???
If not, try a different cable.

Yes, both volume buttons while plugging, it when into download mode and then I flashed that second step and it worked! It did not boot, just made it to samsung logo... so I did the three button deal and gave me red clockwork. I proceeded to wipe data, factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe delvik cache, wipe battery stats, then installed custom zip from sd card (Serendipity VII).
Thanks Truckerglenn.
Right now it's hung on it's first reboot, hoping S7 will fire up, but it's taking a long time. And I never noticed the female voice saying unintelligible remarks every once in a while. What is that?
time stamp
Not trying to spam, just keeping track. Would like to report it's still hung on the Serendipity logo, but I saw it BLINK OFF and I had a black screen for about ten seconds! It lit back up to be hung on the Serendipity VII logo again. And that's how things sit at the moment, me on the edge of my seat, deciding to give the darn thing all day if necessary.
I should give it extra time right? The battery was almost full when I started. I am reluctant to pull the battery and try a reboot now after seeing it blink off and then back on.
progress bar
All this time of being hung up on the S7 logo, that horizontal bar, it is not a regular progress bar, but rather has diagonal green stripes that are starting to show movement every once in a while.
Hope no one minds me logging the details. (I know better than to post in the Dev thread, esp talking about AFTER trying the att back to stock and not liking it LOL
Anyway I find it encouraging (still hung up at this time stamp) that the green stripes are moving constantly. Ten minutes ago I thought I saw them wiggle, they mostly stood still, now they move along and then stop and stay frozen, then start moving again)
So I'm trying to be patient and let it do it's thing, I am resisting the temptation to panic and pull the battery at this point.
green diagonal stripes in progress bar at S7 logo
wow cool, the movement rate changed! It changes from moving, to stopped, to now I saw it do a very slow crawl inch, inch, inch, along type movement the green stripes did! Oh and as I type this, it went dark again, but this time for only 2 seconds.
stuck it would seem
Does a custom rom ever take more than a whole hour to load? I think something is wrong. It's still blinking off for a few seconds, then changing movement rate on green stripes of Serendipity VII logo, getting bright, freezing up, over and over and over...
I'm thinkin' I should go ahead and pull the battery and start over with three buttons.
Anyone else think I should let it cook like this all day and risk running my battery down?
all four buttons on the bottom lit!
I removed the back cover and thought I noticed a difference, turned the phone to look at it and the menu buttons on the bottom, all four were lit up. Then as I held it, again reluctant to mess up, decided pulling the battery might be the wrong thing to do, the darn phone made a short vibrate!
I've been watching to see if it's stuck in a pattern and I can't tell. Decided to let it cook like this a while longer and be patient. I'm going to ignore it and go make breakfast. Darn thing is driving me nuts sitting here watching and wondering.
I never loaded that ROM, but if one takes longer 15 minutes, I pull the battery and start over.
That's what I do. If you do, remember it's at your own risk.

Ok I yanked the battery. I'm gonna do some reading more then. Thanks for the reply. If you could spend a few more keystrokes on me, should I be looking to go into download mode and do the heimlick manuever that takes me back to stock would be my way out of this?
Superoneclick doesn't root the att 2.3.6 stock?
I wonder if being as I heimdall'd to att stock, and lost root?, is maybe why Serendipity didn't load? And now I'm stuck with heimdall first step is the only way to light up my phone now? With all that att bloatware? Phooey! It's better than no phone at all, but I'll be reading here seeing if there is a way to get root, and flash S7 again.
Sounds like it. You need to be rooted to load a custom rom.
Cranky...
Yes i tried and it works. I used superoneclick and got root.

I just pressed the power and volume up/down then it loaded to the bootloader. Once there i wiped cache and data. Then waited a bit while it was wiping data, then held down the power and it restarted. Hopefully that helps.
Ugh, im getting pissed. Second phone same thing. I factory reset from the settings menu. 100% stock. Every time i restart the damn phone it stuck attempting for format data for >15 mintues before i get pissed. If i choose bt tools or factory, it loads the phone just fine, but when i reset, back to the same problem.
EDIT: 8th time around it took just over 13 minutes and the phone reset.

Did it actually reset itself though? Clearly there's something wrong with the stock recovery. I can wipe cache fine, but do a data wipe, or factory reset, and it hangs... though I never let it go more than 5 minutes. I had used the fxz files previously, so I'm glad to hear it's not those and apparently a problem with the actual recovery img that came with the phone.
It also does seem to actually wipe data... something just must be getting stuck not allowing it to move forward when it's done.

Nothing wrong with it, it takes ages to erase, wait like 20 mins and it will eventually come back. It happened to me too.

Well at least that's good to know - but that seems way off timewise, regardless. I know there's more internal storage than most devices, but still...
Yep, it just takes a massively long time. Sorry for the pre teen freak out.

boot with android guy screen
Did anyone that had this problem have a progress bar the whole time? I bought a used Razr maxx hd online and it was factory reset. I tried to boot and got the same issue (android guy with geometry spinning forever) did a hard reset (power + volume down) same thing. Finally got into recovery menu (power + volume up + volume down) and any option i chose would reboot and finally load. But after activating the phone and having all my apps loaded I decided to test a reboot on the phone. Sadly it got stuck again and after using the same method to boot, I had lost everything. Hope there's a fix for this, not sure I can do a swap since I bought this used.

Yea, just let the android guy spin, and go back to in 20 minutes. If still spinning, 10 more minutes. It should be good after that. If not, return that thing!

I let it run a long time, finally rebooted but erased everything again. Then I tried installing the new update. Again hung on android guy long long time, reboot finally and again had to setup the phone and update didnt even install.
Can I just run this by you to see if there is anything you can add?
My wife’s phone started misbehaving recently it froze up and wouldn’t charge. On inspection I found it had had a little drink of water, only a very small splash but there was definitely some inside when I took the battery out to investigate. It was in her bag where a drink bottle spilled a little.
Anyway did all the usual stuff once I realised: stripped it out and put it in the airing cupboard overnight, still problems. With the remaining battery I managed to reload a clockwork backup I had on it and it seemed to start working, started charging and run for a while. It then froze. It seems the screen stops working but the vol and pwr buttons still function. Booting into recovery ALL functions work perfectly, I can run the tests (the lower screen buttons work) reload roms etc but as soon as I boot into the rom, mostly the screen refuses to work but sometimes it works for a minute or so (enough time to restore the user account after a factory reset). But after a while and always after the screen time out, nothing will work again, not even the power button. Needs a battery pull to allow it to run again.
Any ideas? I assume it is shagged. I was going to try a complete wipe and re install a new different rom. Any suggestions which one to try?
Thanks for any help.
Keith.
you said that you've pulled battery while the phone was running...you could fry the eMMC chip ("E: can't mount /cache/...." error in recovery) does your recovery show that error?

No I am pretty sure it isn't fried. I know it is dodgy to pull the battery but since I recon the thing is buggered any way I have actually now done this dozens of times. The chip seems to be ok. How do I know for sure? I can mount and unmount the cache from within the revolutionary loader screen but it doesnt do anything or give any messages. Where would I see the error message?
I just loaded the new cm10 rom. It seems to work sort of ok running this though it did freeze once and the screen behaves funny. presses take a long time to register - like it is running really slowly and single taps usually respond as long pushed. I am going to try an old rom (3.5) with a full wipe and see if it is any better with this.
Thanks.
Also I had this error and also because of wather and the phone maked like yours. But....I put older recovery non touch clasic version of 4ext and after I recover a older backup and start working normal.... I think this you can do and don't cost nothing.

I have a 3 week old Note 10.1 with rooted ROM that will not power on. It was put on the charger overnight with battery depleted (should have charged it before it went completed out.)
In the morning I unplugged it and turned it off before putting it it a sleeve. When I went to turn it on in the afternoon, it doesn't do anything to indicate turning on or waking up. I have it on the charger again, but nothing shows to indicate that a connection to the charger is being made on the Note 10.1
I will need to return it to Bestbuy, but can't do it in it's current stage as it's rooted and has my personal data still intact. Can anyone please suggest any options, I tried few that I had read about (holding power button for 30 seconds and touching the screen, attempt to go into recovery) but none pans out.
Thanks
Dave
Try plugging it into the computer to see if it shows up. If it does, try erasing the cache on it to see if that fixes it.

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately have the same result. Its seems as dead as a nail
Even in odin?
Plug in an otg cable with something lightey (led) to see if the mainboard doing basic jobs.
Can you get into either download (power/vol down) or recovery (power/vol up)? If you can get into recovery, try dirty flashing your ROM. If you can get into download, you should be able to Odin back to stock, though you will lose whatever data you have on your device.
Thanks for all the suggestions, greatly appreciated! Last night I decided to put it back on the charger one more time just to make sure it had juice in the morning to attempt the "finger on the screen and power button" option. It kept just flashing "Samsung Note 10.1" text for few seconds without going any further. I then decided to try "power button" and "volume up" option, took me to the "downloading" screen as it seemed like it was waiting for Odin download. I then proceeded to turn off the tablet and rebooting, which then took me to normal boot up. System indicated charge of 96%, this must have been what I have been reading online (Screen of Death or deep sleep.) I then did a restart to recovery, to perform restore from an backup that was done prior to root. After going thru all the clearing cache etc... and the tablet started to perform the restore, system shut itself and now I have nothing again.
When I was doing the restore from backup, I did not have the tablet connected to any usb connection, maybe that 96% battery was false or something. I put the unit back on the on the power charger again (thinking the battery is depleted again.) Very frustrating, I just want to unroot this tablet and take it back now to Bestbuy.
reminds me on what happened with my note. But for me I thought: "naah, you aren't dead. You're my new babe."
I flashed it immediately after buying and so far... odin always helped. With stock kernel most roms work. Some overclock kernels freeze my note or it isn't bootable 'til stock flash.
edit: you should add a [Solved] into your threadtitle.
Sorry not yet fixed, as mentioned its back on the charger and dead as a nail again.

Attempted to check for devices using adb, nothing at all listed under attached devices after entering "./adb devices" command. I think the board might have gone bad, as the tablet will not boot at all now, even after 8 hours of overnight charging, it's dead. Is there anything I can attempt to revive so I can unroot it, to take it back for refund? Thanks in advance
I'd take it back to the store and see if the Geek Squad can get it to power up. If they can't then they'll never know you rooted it anyway and you can swap it for a new one. Assuming that it's still in the zone or return/swap of course.

I was thinking of doing that, just was worried what the consequences might be if they would to find out it was rooted later down the line. It's still in the return/exchange window. I guess I'll be taking that chance with them, if they get it to boot, I'll be happy with that and re-store to stock.
