Any Task Managers out there that lists only OPEN apps/processes in widget form?
Tried Dock4Droid, was pretty close, but it also showed recent apps/processes instead of only the open ones.
EDIT: I'm not going to use it to kill apps, just going to use it the way you would use a task bar on desktops. Switch between open apps easily, like Alt-Tabbing, via the home screen. I can do it right now by holding the hardware home button and selecting Task Manager, but it's nice to have it as a widget on Launcher Pro.
Theres one in this forum called active apps, or something like that.
Perfect, thanks!

I can't seem to figure out how to remove icons and widgets from the Launcher home pages. I've tried searching this forum and the web in general, and I feel like I'm missing something obvious.
I'm running TnTLite 3.1.2.
Any suggestions?

Click to collapse
Long press the item and then drag to the trash can on the side.
For Home Screens then you can only delete icons (or uninstall app)
If you mean the App Drawer rather than the Home Screen(s), then using Launcher Pro, you can try the following:
1) From any "Home Screen", select Menu then Preferences
2) In the Launcher Pro preferences screen, select "General Settings" (first option)
3) Select Hidden Apps
4) Select checkboxes for the App Icons you wish to hide.
Note that this doesn't uninstall / delete the app -- only hide the icon from the drawer.
I use it to hide icons for apps that I never (or very infrequently) start from the drawer.
Thank you both! I'm so used to the menu-driven Blackberry functions, it didn't occur to me to hold down my finger to see additional options.
Hello guys......
Is there a method to make task manager not able to kill an app
OR
not to see an app ?
Make the app a 'system app' using Titanium Backup
in stock rom, touchwiz30launcher is system app, it can kill with task manager.
if u dont want to kill it, the app must be "Foreground" app, but dunno how to make like that
Foreground - not killable
Background - killable
Service - killable
Visible - used/not killable
What Task Manager are you talking about? I'm saying about the stock one.
stock task manager (samsung) kills almost everything, launcher get killed. even tw launcher get killed and when u press home button to the homescreen the launcher its like loading again
no it's only when you clear the RAM...
default browser is system app, when it used why it can kill?
I read about this but do not know how to do ,,,,,,,,,,,
any help ???
Add android:excludeFromRecents="true" to any <activity> element in the manifest for any activity that should not appear in the recent tasks list
Wondering if anyone is running Widget Locker and Swipepad and has found a way to disable Swipepad (or at least turn off the Swipepad hot spots) when Widget Locker is active? I found an older post asking the same thing from last year but it didn't seem to be resolved.
I use Tasker as well, and was thinking if there was a way to have Tasker send an intent to disable Swipepad whenever Widget Locker is activated, and enable it again upon unlock. I've played around with intents before but am no expert.
I'm also trying to disable SwipePAD in certain applications. Did you find any way to do it? I tried even to modify it's properties file and restart the service, but it's keeping it somewhere in the memory, it doesn't reflect the settings file when the application is killed and restarted by the system.
Solved
Solved (to control SwipePAD from Tasker)! It's up to you now to enable/disable it with events.
You need Tasker, SecureSettings tasker addon and root.

Hi, I am looking for a way to automatically freeze/defrost/launch an application but from the app drawer.
Titanium backup has a widget that performs exactly this way except that being a widget, it cannot be run from the app drawer.
I do not use items on the homescreen (aside from the dock), nor do I wish to. Currently using Apex lanucher.
So, the main questions are:
Is there a way to use widgets in the app drawer?
Is there a way to perform the function of Titanium Backup freeze/defrost/launch without a widget, yet more automated.
Is there a way to 'intercept' between the app icon and the launching process to auto freeze/defrost the app?
Have been searching for an answer to this for a long time. Ideally if this could be done with full automation, ie when you install a new app it automatically gets a freeze/defrost icon/link/widget/etc without having to set it up.
Any help, info, thoughts, would help immensely.
A bit of a bump as I'd be interested in this too.
There is likely a custom launcher that allows widgets in folders or the app drawer, no?
I have a sort of solution for you that sort of works (hear me out)
I guess you don'tl like the clutter that comes with homescreen widgets (me too)
Heres what i did: use nova launcher, and have multiple docks (swipe to change). You CAN place widgets (1x1 certainly) in the dock, and then just hide it away by swiping to a differnt dock.
I must admit it doesnt work amazingly well when you press it, and takes some time to work sometimes, but its kind of a work around.
I use this solution currently for my Wifi High Performance Widget (1x1), which doesnt need to be touched so its in the dock
Hope this helps
For example, consider Google Keep. I want to run it as a homescreen page, or alternatively, force the widget to use the full screen (except for the status bar). I would like to do this with all the apps I use regularly, or at a bare minimum, one of them. There's a mod for iOS that does this in the same way Google Now does, where it turns the left-most homescreen page into an app.
Is there a mod or something to accomplish this?
