Tried to find out, is that possible? Sense 3 and 3.5 got nice camera applications, in desire S. So if i install sense 4, is it possible use camera apk from earlier sense's?
Sorry stupid question, if asked earlier.
No, you can't. Camera doesn't work at all in sense 4 yet.
It seems that Cyanogen based on ICS has camera, but semi-functional.
Thanks. Hope HTC keeps hurry on sense 4
I always wondered why is it so hard to have working camera on new roms... Does someone know why?

Because HTC had not provided the source code for the kernel yet. The libraries are something that only HTC can provide
Swyped from a primed Desire S
Oh... I thought that since hardware is the same, you could use old libraries from stock sense on ics...

The camera and camcorder are working fine on the latest Cyanogen 9 Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1429215 , its pretty much there as a complete Rom now.
Hey i was wondering og anyone could upload the stock camera app? The custom one started corrupting images!
-Thanks in advance!

What Rom r u using?
ARHD 6.6.3. Wont borger updating atm, dont wanna loose all my stuff!

Maybe u could extract the camera files from the zip of your rom and move them to your phone, reinstall the camera apk if that's possible. Did you post in the ADHD thread? Maybe ask there also since its a very active thread and mike and all are very helpful.
Edit: What about reinstalling with the amaze mod? Or r u set against it?
No i'd rather revert to stock. The ARHD Comes with the rebuild camera app, so i cannot get it from there. I'd just love if someone from stock or from a rom with unaltered Camera app could upload it here so i can put it on my phone!
Just a quick bump here, would love if this was possible?
I want the stock inspire camera on my cm7. Can I make that happen? I don't like the other ones on the market...

Look into how to extract the apk. Not sure if it's possible or how it's done. It is the only thing I can think of.
Sent from a dream.
Unzip the stock rooted rom and take the apk out if system>app folder then install using es file explorer and see if it works with cm7.

I'm pretty sure it's not possible. The sense camera is designed specifically for HTC Sense ROM, it won't work on any other rom. I've tried for ages to get any sense camera to work on a non sense rom to no avail. The miui camera is the closest you'll get to the sense camera (still very poor IMO), but you can find an apk/flashable zip for that on the web.
Oh my. Seems not only does the OP not know how to search but neither do a bunch of others.
Had any of you looked for the answer before responding you would know that no HTC apps will work on AOSP based roms. The drivers and framework needed are not there. The coding is different. This has been covered hundreds of times.
So a word to everyone. Try looking for the answer before replying to questions you dont know the answer to.

I recently downloaded the new ICS rom (aospX) but I'm not a fan of the camera. I was using Cyanogen for a while, but I have yet to find a camera that I like as much as or more than the HTC Sense camera. I have the HTCSenseCamera.apk, but I'm having trouble putting it in the new rom...
Could someone compile the aospX rom with the HTC Sense Camera for me?
I have the HTC Sense Camera below.

I have no idea how to compile and I'm looking for someone to compile this for me... Is there someone that already has it compiled?
you cannot use the sense camera on a non-sense rom. as said you should have searched, there are plenty of threads that already covered this issue. thanks
As you probably all heard the rumors about Sense 4.5 and the camera that worked its way through XDA was not completely functional.
HTC announced the One X International android 4.0.4 Sense 4.1 update rolled out. So I googled the Camera and found a flashable zip in the One X forums.
Credits for mod/zip:
ALL CREDIT GOES TO HIM, IM NOT THE ORIGINAL POSTER, JUST RE-POSTING WHAT IVE FOUND.
Disclaimer:
I'm not responsible for what you choose to do with your already rooted device, etc.
The zip won't flash. It will abort installation so just follow the steps below to install:
Screenshots:
Installation Instructions:
1. Download zip HERE (DropBox link)
2. Extract zip contents to SD Card.
3. Backup your original files individually or do a nandroid backup of your system partition.
4. Use Root Explorer (or other type app) to copy all files in zip to proper locations (as shown below
Zip contents:
--- system/app Camera.apk
--- system/etc media_profiles.xml
--- system/lib libhtccamera.so
--- system/lib libOlaEngineNew.so
5. Set all permissions to look like rw-r--r-- (ie. Like every other system file)
6. Change Owner (root explorer option press n hold and scroll to bottom) to root (0) and root (0).
7. Click on camera app once in system app directory and perms and owner are set and actually install the app.
After Install (thing to know, bugs, etc):
- All settings from previous Camera app will be there
- Video recording will work from HD and down. Camera app will close if you try the Full HD setting for video recording.
- Slow Motion video will cause the camera app to close also. Most likely kernel related.
- FFC works fine for me on picture and video...as well as a 0.3 VGA can work. Functionality seems fine.
- Touch Focus reported not working on ViperS ROM.
- Touch to take photo works great for me (on IC Evolution 2.20) and focus is clear for me as well.
Enjoy. I like it, so other may as well.

Well it was posted in the sensation forums so yes. And the OP seems to have tried it so yes.

do we have to delete the original camera.apk
does it work on aosp roms?
1. Yes it is compatible with the Sensation on a Sense 4 ROM only. I'm running InsertCoin Evolution 2.20 Final. Works fine.
2. The Camera.apk will overwrite the original. Follow the steps posted to either backup the files individually or use nandroids advanced backup feature to backup the system partition.
3. Idk about AOSP. Its a Sense camera so I guess if the AOSP ROM is based off a Sense 4 base then go ahead and try it and report back.
Like I said, working great for me on Sense 4.0.

I wouldn't have thought so as you would need some of the sense 4 libs... You could try though.

Why not do a backup and try it yourself. I'm not on that ROM or switching ROMs but it will install and function on a Sense 4.0 ROM so what have you got to lose?

this camera mod is NOT designed for CM10, it has broken your system probably because a sense camera mod will only work on a sense rom or a sense based rom. You will probably have to reinstall your rom, its advisable to make a nandroid backup of your rom just in case things go wrong so you can revert back

Really nice work bro.
Still have to modify camera script for full functionality.
Overall great work. And also thanx to devs related to original post.
Any idea what it would take to get this working with JB?

Just as a heads up, this won't work on AOSP. I have the hybrid rom (PACman) on my MT4GS, and it could not install. At first, I thought I did the install wrong, but turns out it's because it's not based on a sense rom. Long story short, this won't work on most other roms except those based around the HTC Sense.
Such a shame, if one thing HTC got right, it was the camera app.
Would be nice if anyone could port the camera app and make it flashable, but gotta make do with what there is.

Sense apps require sense framework so a port would be pretty much impossible... No sense only apps will work on AOSP.
