how to: 1440x800 images - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

what is the easiest way to make wallpaper images 1440x800 using any image i find online or have already? i would like to make my own. thank you.

Using free GIMP.
If You will download picture smaller then 1440x800 :
- Open it with GIMP
- You need to stretch it to bigger (then 800pix) size (Picture/Resize)
- Copy the one [Ctrl+C]
- Create new blank file [File/New/1440x800]
- Paste previously copied (and stretched) picture [Ctrl+P]
- Cut Frames to targeted size [Layer/Set layer size to picture]
- Save as [xxx.jpg]
I'm only using 960x800 (Wide) & 480x800 (Home,CHTlock,Tabs) and it's OK.

Another free program that makes re-sizing images much simpler is: Irfanview

hi i'm using gimp aswell, but You can use PAINT which You have in Your system (vista or win7) not sure that the older version (XP) have crop or resize tool. Cheers

I hear you can also use photobucket but cant confirm that.
then again photoshop is a lovely tool.

thanks guys, i thought i could do it with paint. but gimp is free anyway so maybe i'll get it. could i just google search for pics in the size i want also?

Image editing for WM5?

I am looking for a tool to edit the photos I take with the built in camera on the device itself. I need: crop, resize, color correction (white balance, hue, saturation, etc). Are there tools for WM5 I could use ?
XnView Pocket
Try the following piece of software:
http://www.pdagold.com/software/detail.asp?s=1275
I have found this quite useful for editing photos and images on my wizard. Best of all it's free!
Since it is categorised as a "viewer": Does it have the editing functions I mentioned? Unfortunately the homepage is in french and I have no idea what the fudge is going on.
Yes, you are able to edit photos/images.
The options available under tools are:
convert - change file format / quality
crop - crop images
resize - define image size
adjust - brightness / contrast / gamma / red / green / blue
rotate - -90 degrees, +90, +180 / vertical flip / horizontal flip
sharpen/smooth - allows to sharpen / smooth image
The link should take you to pdagold.com which is in english.
I think you will find it has most if the functions you require. Try it, it's free!
Thanks, I'll give it a try and report back.

Tool to read and write Android splash screens

Hi all,
I have created a plugin for Paint.Net to read and write RGB565 images. RGR565 is the image type which is used for the initial Android boot screen.
Paint.Net will allow you to open any image file PNG, BMP, JPG, then with this plugin you can save it as a RGB565 file. Just make sure the dimensions are 320 x 480. The size of the file in bytes, once saved will then be 2 times the number of pixels 320 x 480 x 2 = 307200.
You can even open an existing RGB565 file. I have not seen any other tool allow you to do this.
Here is the link to the plugin:

Haven't tried it but really great idea =) too bad I'm a fan of GIMP and Photoshop...I just like them more
Good Idea
Good Idea! This definitely saves some steps to those of us who REALLY like to do some customization to our roms. Good job!.

How can I Video/Pic Compress?.. Is there an App out?.

How would I go about compressing the file size in terms of Mbs used I look through my file manager and into dcim folder and look at all the pics I took and they go from 810kbs to 3mbs. And want to if there is a way to just have a app or something that I can do from the phone to compress the file that it does not take much "mbs" I think total I have about 200 mbs give or take of just pics and I do back up my pics. And same for video (i have about 20mbs give or take) I know about the settings in the camera and video to change the resolutions but I dont want to lose resolutions but not take up so much space. If any of this makes sense lol sorry if it does not lol.
If you crop an image it greatly compressed it. I don't know if any app to do this on multiple images.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA Premium App
There are free apps to shrink pics in the market.
I use Image Shrink Lite, but I've also used Reduce Photo Size. Both work well, both integrate into the gallery so when you get ready to send a pic, it gives you the option to first send the pic to the app to shrink its size (you pick the final resolution). Both preserve the original file, and save a copy
Image Shrink Lite works first time, every time. Reduce Photo Size didn't always seem to work, so ISL is now my go-to app.
Don't know about video.

[GUIDE] Adding Custom Flip Cover Background Images

This is for Pure XL users that use the flip cover instead of the silicone case (or no case at all)
This was an interesting idea brought up by @MatisasB on this thread.

So I took some time to check it out and found out that it is possible to add or change the current background images that you see when you wake your phone with the flip cover closed.
Requirements:
Rooted Pure XL
Some File Explorer application with root capabilities (I personally use Root Explorer. The stock File Explorer app doesn't work, even if you grant it root permission)
Some suitably large images (at least 1440x1067 to be optimal, but can be larger or slightly smaller)
Image editing software
First get some pictures that you want to use as a background. If they're not 1440 pixels wide and 1067 pixels high (1440x1067), use some image editing software to crop/resize them to that size. It doesn't matter if the image(s) are larger if you only want a portion cropped from it. The image can also be slightly smaller, but resized and cropped to 1440x1067 because honestly, 720p resolution still looks acceptable to me on a 1440p 6.0" screen. Your opinions may differ.
Use your creativity to get them to look like what you want to see through the flip cover window!
Make sure to save in .png format, .jpg doesn't work!
Adding New Backgrounds:
After you're done editing your image, rename them to a number above 10 (11 to 10+whatever number of pictures you want to add)
Copy them to /etc/GN_SkyLight
Restart your phone and see the changes!
Replacing Existing Backgrounds:
Copy your edited images to your phone's internal storage or installed microSD card (Make sure your phone's USB connection is set to the File Transfer mode)
Use your File Explorer app to navigate to /etc/GN_SkyLight
Decide which image(s) you want to replace, and back up those files (e.g. Adding "(Backup)" or "(Original)" to their names, or copy the entire folder to your computer somewhere)
Rename your image files to those file names (1-11).png and copy&replace the old images.
It works instantly without a restart!
Hey, great job. Unfortunately I wasn't able to root this decice yet. I tried lots of 1 click root apps but bone of them worked auntik now...
Hello.
I have a simple question, is there any way to control Spotify with the flip cover closed. I mean, to get access to the controls (next, previous song, start/stop) from the flip cover window.
If this is possible, maybe there's a eway to change the flip cover background by syncing with the album art.
Thank you.

Unique App #3: Photo Tools

Photo Tools: compress, resize - Apps on Google Play
The all-in-one tool app for your images. Compress, crop, resize, and much more.

For a pretty long time, I have been looking for an app or service that can show me the exact hex code for a colour or shade in a picture. I had found an online service imagecolorpicker that does a good job.
But having an app that would do this offline would be great for privacy.
Finally found Photo Tools. It does exactly that, and works offline! The following two features (among many others) are pretty unique to this app. Check it out.
• Color picker tool:
This tool helps pick a color from an image. This can be used by graphic designers to extract color from the image and use it in their art. The user can get to know about the color name along with the color hex code.
• Extract colors tool:
This tool helps to extract the majority of colors from the image. Colors can be easily copied to the clipboard by tapping on it. You then use that color to draw or paint in other apps.
You'll find more such unique apps here:
Unique Apps for Android
In this post, I will include some unique apps I have found that do not have competing alternatives (or let's say, I haven't found anything close enough to compete). 1. FolderSync 2. appSelector 3. Photo Tools 4. Hermit I will keep updating this...

A memory space wasting application "Photo Tools: compress, resize". Sample 4.2 MB JPEG file converts to 10.3 MB WEBP.

I have seen similar problems with other apps too. For example, if I crop an image, the cropped image file is significantly larger than the original image.
I didn't try the other tools in this app, but the two features I highlighted are definitely unique, and are the reason why I installed this app (and also made this post).
If you like to know the hex code of a particular colour or shade you see in an image, these tools are extremely handy in letting you know the exact colour code. I use them for customising the colours in my phone.

In this case, the application probably uses the lossless writing option.
