I just got my Capdase black booktype leather case, and I noticed something weird about it.
Whenever I put the phone in the case, the phone doesn't detect when I open the hardware keyboard, thus when tapping a text box the softkeyboard shows even if the hardware keyboard is open. I also tried removing the phone and just placed it back to back with the hardware kb open and with enough distance (about 0.5cm) it indeed does the same behavior (the phone thinks the hardware keyboard gets closed when it's near, and detects open when not so close)
I'm thinking it might have something to do with magnets, not sure tho. Anyone gets the same behavior?
this is the case btw. http://www.capdase.com/en/product5.php?cid=1&bid=5&mid=1139&pid=8875
Googled this issue, and your post showed up.
Yep, I have the same problem. It looks like the magnet is screwing up the phone's sensors.
I am contemplating having the magnet at the back removed and replaced with a one peso coin (need a good seamster to sew the case back), rather than going back to the shop and returning the case. This is my 3rd case, the first two (from games & gadgets) do not last long, plastic holder breaks after a few weeks.
In general, cases with magnetic lock closures tend to do bad things to the sensors of mobile phones. I suspect that these sorts of cases are cheaper to produce than ones that require tabs with manually-stitched loop holders, hence their prevalance. I suggest you avoid them entirely.
It's always buyer-beware with phone cases. Some even manage to do the very things they're supposed to prevent: scratch, smudge or otherwise damage the aesthetics of the device. I once had a case that had leftover glue stuck to the surface of its interior lining and it got onto the back panel of my device. Fortunately, there was no permanent damage but that case went straight into the dumpster.
For my desire z, I ordered the official htc pouch from expansys. Noreve also uses non-magnetic locking solutions on its cases but its cases are pricey, moreso if you're the sort that changes phones often.

Went back to the store and replaced it with a Capdase Smart Pocket for the HTC Desire Z. Much happier now with the new case.

That one has a pretty strong magnet on the back that comes right around where your device's compass array is. It's where the magnet for the pull-tab is located. Try placing a metal paperclip. It'll stick pretty tightly. I had one of those and got rid of it because of that.
Is this the case you have?

I'm obsessed with how amazing it is. Just bought another one from expansys for backup.

Friend of mine ordered the smaller version of the tunebelt and he's ecstatic over it. He's been through a couple too.
My wife loves her tunebelt, not too expensive on amazon either.

Thanks for reply guys!
I was looking at the same model.
AlgorithmX, because you have it, could you comment on quality and usability. I need this thing mostly for sports. It's kind of difficult to judge on picture. Does touch still works through that plastic? How it holds moisture? And how good is velcro?
I posted in the Vibrant and i9000 forums, but I got the larger version of the Tune Belt. It fits with my phone still inside it's TPU case which is what I was looking for. I think the smaller version would be too tight if you want to keep it in your case.
If you have above average sized biceps, you will need the extension as the band is one of the shorter ones I've seen, but luckily the extension is very cheap and works well.
Here are some pics.

Thanks for good pictures!
No hole for a headphones cord?
And how do I know what is bigger/smaller version? I have only thin silicone on my phone and do not want to take it off every time.

The headphone cord comes out of the flap at the top. I can take a picture later, but it's the same open you slide the phone into, so there's plenty of room.
The model numbers tell you if it's the smaller one or larger one. As you can see in my pics, my phone has a TPU case on it and fits very well inside the armband.
AB82 = Smaller
AB83 = Larger
Finally got my paws on it and used it for a while.
IMHO, this armband is useless for sports. It is like a sponge!
I got bigger version and it fits the phone in the silicon case. However seams inside do not allow plastic to touch the screen, so it's pretty difficult to control phone on the run.

I'm assuming you're talking about the TuneBelt right? If so, it's neoprene. While it may "retain" sweat/moisture, it shouldn't absorb it, neoprene is basically sweat proof. It "retains" some of it temporarily, because the material is breathable (which you definitely want) I have the smaller ab82 that I used with my Touch Pro, and I can tell you from using it at the gym a bunch, if you check it a few hours later, it should be bone dry again as the sweat evaporates out of it, doesn't leave it gross or smelly, etc. Wetsuits are made out of the same material for this sorta reason.
As for the seams on the screen.. ya it looked that way in the pictures above. Still, looks to be the only good solution out currently for phones as big as ours.
Just came across this, BUT unfortunately its "Coming Soon."

Black, Sapphire Blue, Burgundy, Amethyst
and
you can get it with or without a holster.
Any idea how long its going to take to come to market? Is it more like a few weeks or months. Is was just about to get a skinomi skin for the phone and a leather carrying case 4 work but I will be more interested in this if this and the holster would be available within the next few weeks
No going to make it.
I called and the person on the phone said they won't be making the case. Hope they are wrong.
I had emailed them on thursday or friday and receive a quick reply back stating that it isnt available yet but to keep checking back on the website because it is updated first.
Ok great i figured the guy i talked to really don't know what was going on.
According the the website, they are NOW SHIPPING in BLACK.
And i just contacting them and as the website says, IN STOCK.
I just received my combo case.. It's very nice, the purple(amethyst) is shipping now also...
I just received this case in the mail. Any tips on how to remove this thing?
I had to basically destroy mine to get it off. Its an awesome case if you never want to remove it...

No need to be so dramatic...
It IS basically impossible to remove without tools, but pretty easy with a little help.
I used a razor blade to carefully lift the bottom piece of the shell up so it would release the latch from the top piece (without doing ANY damage to the phone or case). Next time I need to get it off, I think I'm going to try a thin guitar pick, since I won't have to be so carefull with those rounded edges...
I'll let ya'll know how it goes.
EDIT:
I think I like the tight fit on my phone, but for those of you who anticipate having to get at the sim, sd, and battery often - you might think about putting a piece of scotch tape between the two halves of the shell. The case will still hold on pretty well, but you won't have ANY problem getting it apart without tools in a hurry...
Hey, getting a T-Mobile G2 soon and am looking on eBay for a case.
One thing I've noticed with the original HTC hard shell case and the Case-Mate Barely There case is that there's a little hole above the loudspeaker slit, while the cheapo $2 cases etc don't.
I can't seem to find a corresponding hole/port on the phone itself (just based on pictures off reviews, don't actually have the phone in my hand yet).
Normally I'd just get the official case but it's OOS everywhere I've looked. Probably going to go with the Case-Mate Barely There but I'd like to just save a few bucks with a cheap generic case, though if this will affect some noise-cancelling system or something I'll go for the casemate.
What is that hole/port?

Also have one more question: is the beveled edge existent on the generic ebay cases, and will that severely affect the usability of the keyboard? If it does affect the kb then the case-mate it is
Thanks
Let me rephrase the question then- does anyone's G2/DZ actually have a hole/port in that area?
Sent from my GT-I9100
Desire Z here and same as the pic you showed - no hole there.
EDIT: Never been a fan of the hard shell cases but i tried one of the cheap ones on ebay as well. Does not effect typing at all but when ur lying down with the phone above you, the added weight can cause the top half to fold down...
The hole is there for the internal wifi/data antenna if you will...If you have the phone connected to wifi and place your finger on your phone where the hole would be on the case connectivity goes down. I have a TMO hard shell case and it has a hole as well.

Thanks for the reply.
iirc the hinge falling was an issue with earlier devices- does the phone do that without the case on? I can't imagine a top half weighing just several grams doing that... but maybe that's because of the hinge's design?

Intriguing. The antenna being so concentrated on such a small area seems quite odd, but that's one of the only plausible explanations.
Either way I sprung for the Case-Mate Barely There That has the hole so no worries.
I was originally worried about http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008LM04T6/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i01 this case but it turned out to be quite nice. it does add bulk tho so i would reccomend it to travelers and those who work in non office areas, perfect for cafe's and other busy places. best thing is both cameras work with no obstruction, and can separate for days you know you wont be using the keyboard, and then it looks real slim, pockets for everything see pics below and ask any questions, there is suede on the inside it looks real premium

Great photos. Thanks for that. I'm waiting on mine to arrive from the US (must be stuck on a boat somewhere). What youhave described is perfect for what I need the case for.
I happen to have essentially the same one, save mine doesn't have the SD card holders (although I remember them being advertised, I do not need them so I let it slide). I commute by train (4 to 5 hours per shift), and so far it has behaved commendably. It is bulky, but it does feel a bit safer than having the TF700 all naked in my bag.The corners are free, though, so if dropped on a corner the device will still suffer quite a bit.
End of story: even with a case, don't drop it?
PS: what I like as well is that the flap that folds over the screen backwards makes the tablet/dock combination quite a bit more stable when you let the contraption rest on it. Wow, that is unclear, but I do not know how to phrase it more clearly. Let's try this.
__/\ << = keyboard, screen, folding flap
I received mine today from Amazon and haven't quite decided if I like it or not.
Pros:
The case seems to be built well with quality materials. The leather and solid flaps will definitely protect it from the elements, to an extent. The leather is smooth and soft but easy to hold on to. It's like carrying around a book.
Cons:
The bulk is significantly more than I was hoping for. With the tablet and dock folded in it's about 2 inches thick, and this is before I've put any papers in the flap.
The tablet strap is less than 1cm wide and has a small piece of Velcro to keep the tablet from slipping out if you don't have it docked. That's it, 1cm of Velcro, not that reassuring.
The dock's elastic straps block both the USB port and the Charging port. Moving them aside every time you need to use the ports is possible but an extra hassle.
If I should decide to carry it without the dock, the case doesn't stay closed well, is loose and baggy on the edge, and I'm going to be afraid that the tablet will fall out since a 1cm piece of Velcro is all that would be holding it in.
I'll probably be returning this case and wonder if the RooCase TF201 cases will fit the TF700. I may have to wait for the TF700 cases to come out.

I just got this case today, and so far I'm loving it. The case feels very comfortable to hold.
The material feels very nice and high quality.
Its capable of standing horizontally for watching youtube videos or anything else you do in landscape mode.
The front, back, and closing strap all have magnets built in. When using the case as a stand, the closing strap can be bent backwards to the back of the case and it stays thanks to the magnets, keeping it out of the way.
I don't have a scale capable of weighing the case, but it doesn't add too much weight.
This has 3 card slots as seen below. Once you put a card in a few times, it gets a little looser, making it easier to insert them. The more cards you add, the bigger it will look when closed. With my 3 cards inserted, the case still closes with no fuss.
The case does stick out around the camera and flash. Even though it does, the flash is not crippled by this. To take pictures, you have to keep the wallet flap portion out of the way as it will cover the lens.
The plastic holster you see (where you insert the phone) has a small lip that surrounds the phone to protect it if you were to drop it on the face. I found it easier to insert the top portion first.

This might ruin it for you, but I got the same case in the Seafoam Green colour, and enjoyed it somewhat at first. Then my friend showed me his "screen auto-turn on" wallet case, and let me try it for a weekend. I could never go back to this case afterwards. I then went, on the double, back to Amazon to purchase his case, and have been happy with it since: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C54IEI4/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yeah, it took me a long while too, until I got the name of the manufacturer off the case itself. Don't know why it isn't prominent in Amazon searches.
whoa the one suggested by king cole seems much cooler since i've been using s-view cover...but sadly enough they don't sell it on amazon canada
