what app and widget organizer do you use? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

for app organizing i've found some apps. the one I use automatically organizes my downloads, but i would like an organizer for my widgets. for exemple an app has 3-4 widgets, and if there is an organizer to show the app and then the widgets it has I would like to have it!

no need, sort alphabetically
widget i arrange them the way i like it, and resize it the way i see fit on the screen

let see if I can explain I press menu->add->widget and here i see all the widgets alphabetically. I ask if there is an app that creates a folder with all the widgets for the same app.

CM7 roms does this.

AppWidgetPicker does exactly what you want but you need to be rooted to be able to push it to /system/app

it's a great find
however, i'm afraid that might slow down the system even more when trying to bring up the list of widgets available
i have waaaaaaaaay too many apps installed, everytime i try to add a widget it takes a loooong while to come back with the full list, as it needs to scan an populate the widget pick list
so if i add such an app, it will just add even more complexity to the pick list
scan, then filter, then populate, then group
.... not really in the mood of waiting 2 minute for the widget list to show up

App drawer organizer

I have a horrid amount of apps and I need a way to organize my apps
Was curious if there were any apps that are capable of organizing the app drawer with folders to sort the apps.
If there's no app for it is there a way to manually create folders like in WinMo's start menu.

Afaik there is no way to easily organize the drawer, i am currently using one of my homescreens as drawer with a app called "apps organizer" wich lets you create labels for apps and use those labels as shortcut with a popup menu containing all aps with that label

Dunno how good it is compared to other homescreen replacements though...
A better known home replacement capable of this is dxtop, this is not a free app though.

with launcher pro u can hide apps in your draw that u dont want to see
Thanks for all the suggestions I'm gonna go try some of them ... I use launcher pro and wasn't aware that out allows you too hide apps

dxTop has this capability as well. Used to be my favorite home replacement.
you could use ADW.Launcher or LauncherPro as home replacement
and then add an organizing app like Smart Shortcuts or Apps Organizer to the dockbar
this is genius in fact. i'm thinking about doing that myself!
no more need to spread essential app icons all over different home screens
That's what I'm trying to do minimize my home screens I'm already using Launcher Pro and I was looking at an app that is in beta just can't find the thread for it and can't quite remember the name it was like slip-something

I have that ROM, but cant find any place to make it like on the home screen !?
Maby its an app !??
(Small pic, of apps inside the folder/shurtcut) really like that feature.
seems to be a widget integrated in that rom.
take a look at your widget list. and if you still don't find it post the question in the rom thread ... good luck
Search the market for TagHome. Its a home screen replacement that allows you to organize your app drawer with different tags, really useful if you have lots of apps.
GO Launcher EX 2
Go launcher Ex available from the market for free offer iPhone like folders in the app draw and horizontal scrolling.

[Q] Arrange apps in App Drawer??

Is there a way to organise apps in the app drawer? It is now just a collection of apps, but I like the idea of a totally clean homescreen (only widgets and dock), and an organised App Drawer.
It doesn't matter how the apps are organised. It can be with folders, different pages, whatever. But it has to be in the App Drawer. Is there an app/launcher/custom ROM that can do that?
Anyone? I know not many people want this, because they organise their apps on the homescreens, and the App Drawer is just a collection of all apps, but as I said, I really like the idea of a homescreen with widgets only, and an organised App Drawer with folders or different pages or whatever.
ADW Launcher has an option to create a catalog to group apps, but everytime you need to change catalogs, you have to press menu, then "choose group".
It´s nice, but it should have a better way to choose between the groups.
All apps organizer is what I use. If you use adw or launcher pro you can make it your app drawer. Works really well.

So..., that just replaces the App Drawer? That's fine to me, but I hope you can hide the 'real' App Drawer then. I still want my app drawer button in the middle + 2 icons on either side in the dockbar, but then the app drawer icon should link to that All Apps Organizer program.

You can set the option in ADW.Launcher so that there are arrows on the left and side of the bottom of the screen when you open the app drawer, then pressing those arrows you can switch the catalogs.
Just found out that Go Launcher EX has folder support. I'm starting to like this launcher more and more! Nobody knows it though, so I couldn't find much information about the folder support in app drawer.

Folders within app drawer.

Hello all. Currently I have a Droid x as a backup phone and have the gingerbread leak installed. There is a nice category feature that allows you to put the apps in your drawer into, well, categories. Are there any apps that allow you to do this?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
Some different homescreen apps allow you to put things into categories, but you'll lose HTC widgets or launcherpro widgets if you use that.
Go Launcher can do this, I think.
i remember an app called 'App Folders' on the incredible...maybe that will work for the thunderbolt too.
I use an app called Folder Organizer.
It allows you to tag apps, and then you an put a widget on your home screen(s) that is anything from an icon that will open up into a view of all apps tagged with a specific label, or even a 4x1, 4x2, 4x3 or 4x4 'window' with those apps.
It does a lot more, but I specifically use it for the nice folder organization (including allowing you to order the apps yourself) ability.
Ill give it a look. Thanks. I'm on adw ex and I really don't want to change from this launcher since its so nice. Ill check out that app though thanks.

Try taghome, you may like it also.
Go Launcher EX has support for folders and also hiding icons of applications you dont want. They also list applications by horizontal sliding list instead of vertical like in sense and stock.

[Q] App auto Freeze/Defrost/Launch from App Drawer

Hi, I am looking for a way to automatically freeze/defrost/launch an application but from the app drawer.
Titanium backup has a widget that performs exactly this way except that being a widget, it cannot be run from the app drawer.
I do not use items on the homescreen (aside from the dock), nor do I wish to. Currently using Apex lanucher.
So, the main questions are:
Is there a way to use widgets in the app drawer?
Is there a way to perform the function of Titanium Backup freeze/defrost/launch without a widget, yet more automated.
Is there a way to 'intercept' between the app icon and the launching process to auto freeze/defrost the app?
Have been searching for an answer to this for a long time. Ideally if this could be done with full automation, ie when you install a new app it automatically gets a freeze/defrost icon/link/widget/etc without having to set it up.
Any help, info, thoughts, would help immensely.
A bit of a bump as I'd be interested in this too.
There is likely a custom launcher that allows widgets in folders or the app drawer, no?
I have a sort of solution for you that sort of works (hear me out)
I guess you don'tl like the clutter that comes with homescreen widgets (me too)
Heres what i did: use nova launcher, and have multiple docks (swipe to change). You CAN place widgets (1x1 certainly) in the dock, and then just hide it away by swiping to a differnt dock.
I must admit it doesnt work amazingly well when you press it, and takes some time to work sometimes, but its kind of a work around.
I use this solution currently for my Wifi High Performance Widget (1x1), which doesnt need to be touched so its in the dock
Hope this helps

App Windows as Widgets

I want to pin an app window to the home screen, like a widget, except that it is a live app.
I need this because there are so many applications which do not have any widgets. Instead of opening an app(which I forget most of the time) I would like to have them pinned as a widget which I can easily view while scrolling through the home screens.
There any many Xposed modules, which allow any app to be viewed as a floating window, but don't know how to make widgets out of them.
Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks!
i have the same idea from the past a few months since the launch of google go app but i dont know how to do that
i searched all over the internet but i didnt find anything
it will be very useful for the small and mini apps like lite version
hope any developer will refer for our post
