Xoom not compatible with ftp??? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I dont know what it is, but every ftp software on xoom I have tried does not work when I try copying files. I can definitely pull the device up and view the file system on my pc... " ftp 192.168.2.8:2121 " ...... But I get the error
"An error occurred opening the folder on the FTP Server. Make sure you have permission to access this folder.
Details:
550 Invalid name or chroot violation"
Anyone else suffer from this plague?

Use app FTPServer its free and works fine

Remoteamp errors

When trying to update the media library (on the server that is) I get an error:
"Error updating database: SQLITE_LOCKED(6) Database table is locked"
I can update some folders, but with others I get this error.
Does someone know how to fix this?
Thnx! Sander
Edit I also get this error:
"Error beginning database transaction: SQLITE_ERROR(1)cannot start a transaction within a transaction"
hello,
maybee you find it out by yourself... but if you doesn't (or for other peoples) -> just delete the library.db file in the RemoteAmp directory (of course you must have to close the remoteamp.exe before you do this) and then all should be work fine

[Q] Mounting a shared directory ?

All,
This is my 1st post, so please be kind ...
I have a G-Tab running Vegan 5.1.1 and I am trying to mount a shared directory from my windows 7 machine. The directory is shared as \\USER-PC\Pictures\ and can be seen by other Windows PC's as shared, but not by my G-Tab.
I have installed Mount Manager and have tried pretty much every conceivable possibility for the share path, but I keep getting "No such file or directory". Also, on the screen shots for mount manager, people seem to be using their local IP, but nothing comes up for that either.
Kernal: 2/6/32/28-cynaogenmod
Any suggestions, as I would really like to be able to mount my "Music". 'Pictures", and "Videos" shared folders from my Laptop.
Thanks !

I've found, when mounting, that I have to use the ip address of the share machine, not the machine name. try that.
thanks, I tried using the IP as well, but am still getting the same result. I was able to get it through ES file manager, but it will not mount in a way I can use it, only browse or move files. I wanted to stream the music, and video, but it looks like that is not an option.
Any ideas ?

[Q] Android - How to open a file directly from a server.

Hello everyone,
I'm an android user, with a Galaxy Nexus running 4.2.1.
I have a QNAP NAS which I can easily access from my android phone via WebDav or Ftp.
Currently, when I select a file (doc, xls), it downloads the file to my phone and then opens it in in it's respective application.
When I edit the file and save it, the changes are only made to the local file which was downloaded to my phone. I then have to upload the file back to the server and overwrite the existing file. Such a pain!
Are there any methods or applications that will open the file directly from the server? Such that edits and saves are done on the server instead of on my phone?
Thanks,
Daxton

try File Expert, I think could help you.
Thanks Ikubik,
Unfortunately File Expert doesn't work.
It connects via FTP and gives me a directory listing.
However, when clicking on a file, it says "Opening Directory..." and then does nothing. It doesn't even appear to download anything either.
This is really chapping my a**. You'd think this would be possible??
I've tried FX file manager - connects via ftp - only opens files as read-only
Solid Explorer - connects via ftp - saves files locally for editing & changes are not made on the server
X-Plore, couldn't establish connection
Kingsoft Office - Has WebDav support which refused to connect
ES File Manger - Same result as Solid Explorer
How to people manage their files on the go?
I want to get away from online cloud services and manage my own data. Apparently, this is more difficult that I thought.
I found an application call FolderSync which keeps your server files synchronized with your android. But, it downloads all of your network files to your phone. I've got 13 gigs of documents = no thanks.
Any other suggestions?

s19c - how to root?

I have a s19c tv stick with rk3066 chip inside. All I want to do is to edit build.prop and remove the line "persist.sys.timezone=Asia/Shanghai" so that youtube doesn't keep showing me chinese videos.
But I can't seem to root it. It doesn't have an otg port, so no luck connecting it to the pc. There is already a /system/xbin/su file, but it gives the error "uid 10061 not allowed to su". "busybox su" gives the error "must be suid to work properly"
What else can I do?
I even tried to create an update.zip but it's too difficult. I know RK30GENERIC_CWM.zip works. so I extracted it with winrar, archived it back without changing anything, and signed it with signapk.jar using the test keys. Then I tried to flash it, and I get the error "not a valid update package." I just don't get it.
But then all I want to do is just to remove a line in build.prop. Would somebody please help?

XLS file

Hey Guys,I'm exporting attendance report from Chinese fingerprint machine in XLS format
I can't find an app that will open that file, microfoft office says can't open file,I tried many other excel apps ,it says bad file ,can't open, other say file is corrupted.
However I can open the file on my laptop in Microsoft excel ,but there is a warning message that I must accept ,before the file will open, something about that file came from unauthorized device.
Can you suggest me what app I can use on my Android phone to view the file ?so I don't have to carry my laptop with me?
Use AndroXLS app - it's free of charge.
AndroXLS can open the file, but all data messed up
