[Resolved] [CLOSE THREAD] [Q] Android 2.2.1 with ODEX ROM

Hi,
I have a phone that have Android 2.2.1 with ODEX Rom.
The phone GPS has a problem, it reports the speed in knots instead m/s.
I have the solution to solve this GPS problem but I need to edit one of the classes inside the framework.odex (class location).
This is my problem:
How can I decompile the odex file and, after I make my changes, compile it again in odex format?
Hope someone can help me with this.

Hi,
I just found how to decompile odex files with baksmali.
But, it is possible generate the new odex file with dexopt-wrapper or something like that without use the phone?
I dont have root access in my phone because of that I must do it in my computer and use the update.zip to update my phone.
I try z4root but I think is not working with my phone.
Android 2.2.1 with ODEX ROM (Solved)
Problem solved.
I fallow this tutorial and it works just fine.
Just one thing, when I decompile the .odex file with the Baksmali I had to use the BOOTCLASSPATH.
To Baksmali and dexopt-wrapper we need to know the BOOTCLASSPATH.
In adb just type: adb shell echo $BOOTCLASSPATH

Settings.apk does not run

Hi, I hope someone can help me with my problem:
I run an HTC Sensation, with the latest ICS leak, and have a mod I want to apply, which is an AOSP-ized Settings.apk.
The problem is that if I adb push it onto the phone (/system/app), it does not show in the main menu, like its not installed.
BUT if I first install the stock Settings.apk, boot the phone, reboot into CWM and then flash the modded Settings.apk, it works just fine...
Does the stock Settings.apk alter anything that the second one needs?
I am attaching the modded one if anyone would be willing to help me find the problem...
Thanks!
Kristof
I've got a similar issue.
I wish to install an AOSP settings.apk & settingsUI.apk but I can't find the directory to paste them in. I then made a folder and placed them in there and installed them via ES File Explorer and the changes weren't applied.

[Q] (Stock Deodexing) -- boot.img failure on update.zip flash? Fix, Replace? Re-Zip?

I have a ZTE990 avail.
Currently I'm rooted with no other roms installed, simply stock, and odexed.
I've tried to manually de-odex using baksmali, Xultimate, etc. All were a pain, all wouldn't work properly.
I found someone and downloaded someone who just simply uploaded a Stock_Deodex.zip rom. Sounded perfect.
So I boot into CWM, try to update and...
assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img","boot" android
Click to collapse
Since I have stock.. and am just trying to De-Odex.
Can I just unzip the Stock_Deodex.zip, delete the current (apparently faulty) boot.img, and replace it with one of the ones created with the cwm recovery, re-zip and attempt to update as usual?
Or since (if my understanding is correct), the only thing necessary for a system to become deodex is the files in /system/app and /system/restore.
Obviously when I un-zip stock_deodex.zip I have access to them. Could I possibly just replace the two folders (somehow?) and be properly de-odexed?
Any other options that I could use that'd be best?
Much appreciated to anyone who helps, thanks!

[Q] Q: Pulling a file from ICS Firmware

Hi.
I'm trying to pull GenieWidget.apk and .odex from a XT925 firmware I dowloaded. I presume its in the system_signed file as its the only thing big enough to be /system.
I searched quite a lot and apparently its not the same as on previous models; I can't just mount it using -o loop because it asks for a filesystem type.
I have a GenieWidget.apk from an AOSP build of my previous phone that works quite well but I prefered the one on the RAZR HD ICS and am hoping it will still work in JB. It was removed in general from ICS to JB updates so its quite possible that I just need to put the files back.
If someone can upload those files from ICS that would be helpful. I would, however, like to know how to mount or extract this file though and I'd appreciate any info on that as well. I have OS X, Linux, and Windows to work with.
Any help?
