While running Dolphin HD not too long ago it FC'd on me in the middle of browsing. Tried restarting it several times and had the same issue. The same thing happened when I tried the stock browser, so I rebooted the phone. When it started, alot of core apps and services started FCing: Google Services Framework, Device Management, Clock, Email, LogsProvider and several others. Phone seems to be ok now (without another reboot), but there're still some apps that are FCing when I open them. Google Services also FCs when I start/stop the wifi
I recently flashed InDroid 3.0 on my I5800 and it's been running pretty well so far. But what could be going on that it would just start FCing apps while I'm browsing?
not development related closed pls post ur question in the Q & A thread
Did you convert some filesystem to ext2 eventually? Or do u use any other lagfix?
InDroid with Lagfix? It has every partition converted to ext2. This filesystem has no journaling and so data loss is pretty possible. Allready read a thread in a german forum about the same issue with InDroid -> allot of fcs with random apps. That's why other roms are using ext4 or jfs.
EDIT: to slow ... but same intention.
I'm using Custom Lagfix. I have force rebooted a few times when the phone got really unresponsive.
Hi..I had exactly the same issues with Indroid 2.0 apps kept force closing continuously..switched over to kyrillos' rom..never tried indroid after that
hey even i had the same problem !!!
I was on indroid 3.0 and suddenly all the apps started getting fc's !
Finally had to hard reset to make it working , which it is still now!
Everything seems to be working fine now, and I didn't even reboot. Still want to know what was happening though.

Seems that my data for most of my wife's apps got corrupted somehow. All the apps are still installed, but about half wont launch. Deleting the DATA doesn't help, I must delete the application then reinstall for them to start working.
I changed the battery in my wifes phone to charge the backup, and now I got constant force closes. I deleted all those apps and reinstalled them and now those apps work. Also the touchwiz launcher lost all her icons, lost the sorting in the app drawer, and reverted back to the stock homepages. Also the newest contacts are missing, but I'm not sure if they were saved to the sim card or to the google accounts.
This is all on the stock software, no custom rom & rooted. The only thing I can think of is I converted from imnuts kernel non-voodoo to voodoo and I didn't flash the SD card fix afterwards. This was about 5 days ago... How can I stop this from happening again, I probably won't be near her to fix this the next time it happens.
I had to delete almost every app and reinstall, but everything seems better today.
It sounds like some app somewhere or some piece/step related to the kernal is your issue. I would suggest starting all the way over. Flash the stock version and fresh download all apps. This way you will not have to worry about her phone. Good luck and let everyone know if you find the bug. I just had a major bug with the new version of skype that includes video chat.

I installed the leaked skype version that works with 2.2 camera. I wonder if that could have been the cause?
Yep. Gotta reflash.

I'd been running rooted (Revolutionary) with the Verizon/HTC stock ROM (605.9) for awhile and fairly happy. Then I received the OTA push attempt about 2 weeks ago for 605.19... so I opted to defer the push for 2 weeks (June 1) so I could do some research and decide what best to do.
That's when the following problems began... I noticed right after the OTA request... that anytime I restart or reboot the Tbolt many of my core app defaults now go away:
GO Launcher... requires to re selected
Power widget... will not reload (but GO Calender widget is fine?)
Facebook... contacts sync have to be reset (but Google syncs are fine?)
Swype keyboard... must be re selected
Even though I could/can manually fix these disconnects, I decided to take the opportunity to try some other ROMS to see if that would correct the problem. Long story short... I have basically tried 4 different ROMS including 2 different stock ROM (650.19) variants. I am now currently running iKReaM.605.19.NOSeNSe.ROM.v1.0.RLS-R3Ds
which is a nice running ROM.
BBUTTT... with every clean and wipe and reflash, the above "default" disconnects occur? I have tried to search several sites for anyone experiencing similar problems with no success... I know this can't be a ROM issue because it occurs no matter what ROM I use.
Misc info: Several ($paid$) rooted apps that I use are... TiBackup, ADfree, Root Explorer, Superuser (DDChain), No Frills CPU, ROM Mgr... all of which seem to be working together just fine.
Thanks for reading and any thoughts would be appreciated.
I'm beginning to narrow this down to self-affliction... perhaps via something I've done in ROM manager and I keep restoring the problem (???). I deleted all backup data and have reflashed iKReam. One by one I'm adding apps back and have had no app "default" disconnects as of yet. Also I'm not going to reload GO launcher... since the default iKReam launcher (LauncherPro +) is working/reloading just fine and I don't want to chance it.

Sometimes weird things happen like this for the oddest of reasons.
Try running fix permissions in ROM manager.
If it doesn't work...
Did you also clear the dalvik cache when you flashed over to your new ROM?
Did you restore data only from your pervious ROM onto your new one?
Always make a backup before doing anything different, just in case.
If none of this works, I really don't know what to tell you man.
Hopefully this will bump your thread and someone will be able to help you out a little bit more.
ISSUE RESOLVED: DISABLE OC DAEMON SCRIPTS AND DON'T RESTORE DATA, WHETHER FROM TITANIUM OR IN APP FUNCTIONS.
I haven't been able to find anyone fix on the web, so I'm taking it to XDA
So far I've gotten these issues on these ROMs, stock.
-Core Droid
-Runny Xtreme Surprise
-RcMix
Certain apps FC when they try to access the web. Off the top of my head I know Dolphin Browser HD and Friendcaster for Facebook don't work. They don't immediately force close when I open them, they FC when they try to access the internet. Only when I try to load something on Dolphin or Friendcaster does it FC.
And I get random reboots. No idea why, although I seem to only get them when the screen is on but I'm not doing anything. E.G. if I leave my screen on it'll just start rebooting.
I'm not sure what's wrong- the first two times I had it on Runny Xtreme Surprise and RcMix was with heavy modifications. I ended up reflashing and not modifying or installing any apps (Except for Dolphin to test). Still had the problem.
I don't have this issue with Android Revolution or Redemption (which is weird, I have less stability on gingerbread than ICS...), so I'm pretty sure it's not any app causing this.
All three ROMs with this issue are very heavily modified Sense, which might be what's causing this. However, they aren't known bugs and seem to be unique to me.
Any help appreciated And yes, I must have either one of them- I really like the Sense 3.5+ tweaks.
TL;DR- Random FC+Reboot, don't think I did anything wrong. HALPZ
Well best would be the roms thread that you have had issues with and see what the devs offer .

Everytime you flash a rom are you fully wiping? A full wipe is recommend between flashes.
Also make sure you watch what you restore after flashing. Do not restore any system settings.

To tie in with CW if.you restore any apps make sure your restoring data not app and data..

I'm pretty sure I'm doing everything right, but I'll post a breakdown in case I'm wrong
Before flash:
Wipe Data/factory reset, wipe cache/dalvik, format system.
After flash: power off, reboot, wait a few minutes, setup phone.
I usually restore app+data, so I guess I'm doing that wrong , but I've tested this issue with a 'fresh' flash and the app downloaded off the market, no restore. Same problems.
On the Coredroid Q&A 'Towboat_man' said that it might be an OC/UV script issue. I'm going to reflash for the third time, and disable the scripts to see if it changes anything.
Thanks for all your replies
EDIT: Just reflashed (just in case), and disabled OC scripts. So far Dolphin HD, downloaded off market is working fine. I'll test this on friendcaster later.
Yeah sometimes scripts can mess you up. I always suggest trying a rom for a few days without adding any scripts or over locking. I personally never do any of that anymore and get perfect results. Glad you figured it out.

CRAP+ oh well
Well I ended up having the same issue with OC daemon scripts removed. Apparently this issue was two fold. One, the OC daamon scripts were causing random reboots and possibly my FC problem. The second issue was my back up. Somehow a few certain apps that relied of network access kept crashing when I restored their settings. They FC on on data restore, regardless of where that restore came from. In app restore functions could cause this, as well as titanium.
I'm not sure why this is so, possibly because my backups were from the Redemption ICS rom, whereas all the ROMs I had this issue on were gingerbread. However, I didn't have this issue with non modified gingerbread/sense ROMs like Android Revolution.
I tested this again, and gReader (by oinoin) also had the FC issue.
So long story short, if you have network caused FC's, don't restore data!
I have the Cappy and am using CM7.1. Earlier today I installed Autorap, a new app by Smule.
Within a half hour, the app caused various crashes and instabilities in my phone, including causing errors with the google framework itself.
Upon restart, it caused my phone to be stuck in bootloop such as the only response was to wipe everything and reinstall.
Be warned, everyone, as this might happen to you as well.
Thanks for your time.
Seriously..this **** messed up my jelly beans V2 also..... Dunno what to do now!!! Might have to reflash!
Well, it wasn't all bad. The refreash of CM7.1 is running smoothly. I cleaned out a lot of apps I wanted to, anyways.
I did lose data, but mostly some phone numbers i hadn't backed up to Google.
Still, an app that causes problems so that the device has to be reset is absurd. I will not be using any more Smule apps for the foreseeable future.
I hope they fix some bugs in kit Kat, because I've seen multiple issues and needed multiple reboots.
-Total lockup when first opening taptu (could be taptu). Been OK since reboot
- had"app info" stuck on the launcher under the search bar. Had to reboot to clear it
- hangouts totally crashed and would not start again without crashing immediately even after reboot. Needed to clear data to use again.
Rant, ugh, rant

Yeah, this is the way of almost all new software (operating systems especially). Fixes will come, we are the first and only officially supported device for 4.4 so we get to be a sort of testing group.

Did you also encouter a bug when a Hangouts conversation kept loading?
Didn't iOS7 had like 3 patches in just a few weeks after launch also?

I think that was my issue that kept it crashing. I had an MMS that didn't go through because of network. I resent it, and then it kept crashing until I cleared data

I also have issues with the new version of Hangouts, but I have sideloaded it on my Note II.
Since Google wants Hangouts (and G+) to succeed, I think they will fix these bugs soon.
On the subject of buggy software (to be expected as sw is new and as of now N5 is the only supported device) but I've had multiple sessions of Skype freeze and fc, unfortunately process com.android.phone has stopped, have reset the phone twice cleared cache and even swapped out handset due to first handset had latter error on first boot wifi is intermittent at best again probably drivers..Just a few apps I've noticed to not work nicely with 4.4
