[Q] Htc Desire HD Roms on HTC Inspire - HTC Inspire 4G

Hello my name is Michael and I'm new to the forums and I have a question. Knowing that the inspire is just a American version of the desire hd, can you put desire hd roms on the inspire? I've tried it once and read a post on a blog that you would have to flash a a special inspire kernel, but when i did that after the htc boot screen it went black. Is there anything that I'm missing or is it just that not all desire hd roms will work with the inspire?

Someone please help out! I was about to post the same question.

Not all will work. Even though there are a TON of similarities, they are not exact trade off's. A Dev that works on both devices with ROM's will have to answer this one. This should get you started.

Not all of them work. Sometimes you gotta play around and change the radio/kernel. But the best desire tons are on the inspire threads imo.

Talderon & emmissary Thank you guys so much for the help. I have been flashing differnt kernals when using Desire HD Roms and sometimes after the first HTC boot screen it goes black. But I understand why some will and some wont work. Thank you for all the help.

According to my "about phone" tab:
Mod version: CyanogenMod-7.0.0-RC4-DesireHD
Kernel version: 2.6.23.35-cyanogenmod-g0825ccb [email protected] #1
This is working great for me, and I have not noticed any problems with sound or stability thus far. The speakers are plenty loud, which seems to be a common complaint on rooted Inspires.

why not many ROMS for the Inspire?

why are there hardly and ROMS made for the inspire? it is a great phone, but does not seem to get my attention by devs?
Now that you're in the right section there are lots of inspire roms. The Inspire is a Desire HD at heart, creating specific roms for the inspire is double work for devs as the desire HD roms work just fine, especially since the source was released. You have lots of options in the inspire and desire HD development sections.

You sure can. I'm not sure about the miui but everything else is good to go, kernels too. Most roms even include the sound fix these days so no worries there either.

It's a "new" platform just released. Even though it's similar to the Desire. Going to take a bit. I had my captivate for 6 months and they're just now getting into some nice looking ROMs..expect the same out of Inspire , though I'm seeing faster footwork here.

Hooked on sense but dunno if to change?

Hi, my upgrade is in 3 months and I'm stuck at what to get, the phone i have at the moment is a HTC desire hd, so am used to sense UI, basically I'm stuck between 2 handsets either HTC sensation or xperia arc??
I like to put custom roms on my device and play around with it a lot, but the sensation bootloader is locked and I've also looked through arc dev forum on here and didn't find much by way of roms.
So am really stuck between the 2??
Just wondered if anyone could give some advice as to which one to possibly go for, if they got experience with the handset or just what they've general heard or know?
Thanks in advance to anyone that could help

I would stick with the DHD. its an really good device. C:
Otherthan would i take the arc since the screen of the sensation is crappy in my eyes.
Would the dual core play a major part to getting the sensation over the arc??
I don't really know much about dual core and wondered how much better it would be over a single core?

The audio quality suffers on some of them. but most devs support both devices.

from what I've read, the most common issue was the 'tinny sound' issue. If its in the inspire Dev section, give it a go, you might be surprised.
All the ROMs on the inspire thread have good people behind them, I like ninja, and others like others. Heck the fun part of having a rooted phone is flashing the heck outta them.
Try them all keep the one YOU like.
thanks for the input guys..so i guess if i wanted to flash a desire rom i could then apply the tinny fix for the audio?
most of the roms in the inspire section are actually desire hd roms.
2 major differences:
inspire section roms tend to swap out all references to desire hd in favor of inspire 4g branding
tinny audio fix

Before official AT&T GB, I ran nearly every GB RUU there was. They all seemed to work just fine. I'm playing around now with the 3.06.405.1 release (Sense 3) now and it is remarkably stable.
thanks a bunch for the info guys now off to flashing my butt of..lol

New to this forum

Hello,
I am new to the sensation forum. Originally from the Evo forum, thens switched to T-mobile and went to the G2x forum. Missed my evo so I got a sensation which is the same form factor. So far loving the phone. Much faster than evo. Better camera too.
welcome! hope that you enjoy the forums
Hello and welcome
Welcome aboard and Happy Flashing!
I am also new to this forum coming from Samsung Vibrant. I just received a Sensation and I am amazed how many different types of Roms are available for flashing.

You're gonna have fun trying out all the different ROMs. Luckily for you, most of the devs have relatively stable versions now, and CM7 has been released in alpha status for a while.
We have some weird people in here, don't let that bother you too much
Also new to this forum, just sold my mytouch 4g and bought this baby. Just got done with S-off, Super cid, and all that jazz (which was relatively easy).. I'm a CRACKFLASHER!! Haha.. anybody can recommend a stable Rom?

Hello everyone

Just switched to my millionth android phone, coming from a t989, picked up a sensation. Looking to eventually root and find a clean stable ROM. Looking forward to some suggestions, maybe tips and tricks.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using Tapatalk 2
Hi and welcome! You can take a look at Sensation general forums and they have the rooting guides there. Also look at sensation android development and the roms Are there. Before anything you need to know your h boot version in order to find the guide that is correct for you. In order to find that you pull out your battery, then place it back in and press your volume down and power button at the same time. A screen will come up with your information. On top will be your h boot version. Write it down. Then you can find the correct rooting guide for your boot version.l read through the guide a few times. I suggest to even print the guide out so you can refer to EVERY step with ease . I did this and trust me it helps a lot because you can't miss a single step. Before you begin familiarize yourself with the guide. It's worth the effort in the end. Before you know it you will be S-off and rooted . I do suggest you also S-off because you will have more freedom later and be able to flash a lot easier. This is my opinion. I'm S-off. S off is like security off . Since your rooting you might as well soff also. The guide will tell you how. I hope these tips help you out. And I want to say again welcome. Best wishes!

Thanks for all that awesome information, I'm very familiar with routing and s-off and all that. To be honest,I underestimated this phone. I have never seen so much development for a phone and I'm kinda overwhelmed with all the roms, as to which are popular and stable and the latest.

I am kinda confused though, is it normal that the phone signal shuts off with the battery door off?

I've got to say, I had 3 Amazes, this is my first sensation and I like it so much better, but I can't quite pinpoint why. It feels great in the hands, I love the groove asking the glass, and the thin-ness of it. I know speed for disc the amaze is suppose to be better, but this phone is real nice.
One thing I notice, it seems a little longer, yet a little more narrow as far as the screen goes? Maybe it's just me, coming from a 4.52 inch screen

Just checked my hboot version, it's 1.27.0000 so I'm going to start looking into the easiest way to perm root my sensation and see which ROM is best. Viper seems like the most popular.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using Tapatalk 2
You're right, viper is the most popular, but that's probably because team venom does so much work with sense and they have devs for a lot of HTC devices so they get things done and put a ton of features, by the way, be careful on juopunut bear. I know you've had the amaze and you've probably already done it, read everything very carefully because you do not want your new phone to be bricked

For ICS ROMs I'd have to say ARHD is by far the fastest and smoothest. Cm9 wasn't bad but I still find it laggy and buggy even in final build. I won't mention jellybean because you said you wanted something stable and I take that as no betas . Good luck and just remember that if you get s-off and super cid you will save yourself a lot of trouble with incompatibility issues.

REMEMBER TO HIT THANKS IF I HELPED YOU IN ANY WAY, IT'S POLITE AND APPRECIATED.
If you to try a sense rom really close to vanilla ICS I would go with virtual inquisition. I used it for many months, it was really good battery life was great. But development has seized for that rom.

I hate to be that guy that asks, but is there an all in one method I could follow for hboot 1.27.000 to get s-off and root with recovery? I've been searching I'm kind of overwhelmed lol. Could someone provide a link? Thanks in advance.
